Facts are like salt. They can make things better...or burn if applied over a wound.

Andrea Andrew

Sal wishes she could land a Dorothy. Danny really was with Dorothy that long?

Harold

Find you a girl that matches your increasingly unhinged

5099 5618 v2.0

@Andrea Andrew Maybe Danny is her Dorothy? I could see them Rule 34-ing each other.

Fart Captor

I once again feel she should kiss other women about it

Harold

"So, Sal, tell me a little about yourself." "Ah got stabbed a few years ago by yer ex-husband's new stepdaughter. Who also kinda dated Danny for a while." "...Well, that's interesting..."

Beck Chonigman

How do you fumble a dynamite woman like this?

Lazuli

oh karen

Harold

Karen's autistic, by word of Joe, so that's 100% accurate

Lisa

Really starting to understand why Karen and Dina got on so well.

cat

there was something about this punchline where I went "idk, the verbiage of this feels a little too millennial. I feel like an autistic woman of Karen's generation would compulsively mask more." and then I realized I was still thinking of the Dumbing of Age crew as being the same generation as me because I was 18 and just starting college when I started reading. then I realized Karen's probably in her early to mid forties which would make her only about ten years older than me and therefore also a millennial and now I'm sharing this because if I have to think about the passage of time so do all of you.

Harold

@Beck Chonigman: By being a chronic philanderer who fucked up his son's entire perception about himself, human relationships and his role in them

Maude Reads Things

Karen has done nothing wrong, probably, in her entire life.

Logibear

"And she's gotten increasingly unhinged ever since" - Danny, I love you, but I am almost certain you weren't the tether to her personality.

GundamBradley

I'm positive he did, once he got to know her more.

Logibear

Instructions unclear, I'm now dating a ranch slider.

GundamBradley

For what it's worth, Danny's still probably in the upper echelon of cast member romance achievements. That's... not saying a whole lot, given how awful the bottom have have been doing.

Jim Avery

Sal and Danny do look really cute together, don't they?

Harold

@Crunchos cereal: Richard Rosenthal: "THIS IS THE BEST BIRTHDAY EVER"

Maude Reads Things

Yeah, he was. Danny thought they were going to be high school sweethearts and last forever and ever. It's why he came to IU in the first place. Unfortunately for him, Dorothy no longer found his clinginess or his weird mom endearing and she was annoyed when he suggested she'd give up her ambitions and just settle for here. I miss that Dorothy. I'd really like her back.

Michael Flannagan

I really don't understand why Danny doesn't open every conversation with "I banged a superhero."

Jamie (QueenofSodor)

i could be wrong but didn't joe sarcastically call joyce mom at one point pre-timeskip when she fussed at him over something???

Logibear

Oustide of that though... the observation isn't incorrect.

Bad Poetry

They do! It surprises me that they have become my favorite couple. Two people that shouldn't work, but kind of do anyway.

AE Gonzalez

“Sal’s actually my second girlfriend since Dorothy. Arguably third if you count the last one as two.”

KiasyonSFM

Joe's mom is a top 5 character in DoA already.

Bad Poetry

No indeed... Clingy high school boyfriend is a tether, but not the good kind.

Tessea

I mean, she's not wrong. That's over 10% We need to get her in a room with Dina's parents at some point. For science. Adorable science.

Tessea

As well as Joe and Dina.

Tessea

Well if he hurts Stacy we know Amber and/or Mazie can wreck him. I think she's had enough of bad father figures for one school year.

DramaQueen

She’s a social train wreck.

DramaQueen

That boy needs to learn how to shut his mouth. Just nod, smile, and change the subject, it’s none of her business. Gossiping about your ex with a parent is a bad look.

DramaQueen

Surely a grown woman would have more tact than bringing up an ex in front of the new girlfriend. She’s probably around fifty with a kid in college, most women have been having kids later and later.

DramaQueen

There is so much TMI going on in this conversation lol.

Shane Wegner

“A happened after B” isn’t necessarily “I assert A caused B”. He could also be implying “maybe it’s just as well I got out when I did”.

Shane Wegner

We don’t know beyond all doubt the shadow in panel 1 isnt Dina. Or maybe she’s behind one of the windows in the other panels.

plant.mimic

@ Shane Wegner That's how I took it

Maude Reads Things

I think it's sweet Karen is worried about Danny getting his heart broken by his first girlfriend too. That said....c'mon, Karen. Danny spent the first day post breakup not going to class and sitting in his room after a blunt but not particularly mean break up. If Dorothy had cheated on him on the news, he'd have spontaneously combust by now.

Jesse

"Facts are meaningless! You can use facts to prove anything that's even remotely true!"

Sajuuk-Khar

Sal with the dunk on Dorpy from half court, sailing through the air like she’s Michael fucking Jordan

Empress of Robots

Hat boy needs to be REALLY CAREFUL about who he calls unhinged...

Andrea Andrew

That Dorothy still exists, Maude. Joyce inspired her to find her true ambition. Don’t be homophobic.

Harold

@Jamie (QueenofSodor): And whether this Sal was on it and what her number was

Harold

"Also, Ah gotta twin brother, an' he's dated Dorothy, too, twice. Fact, he was still datin' her when that front-page thing happened. He also kinda dated the girl who stabbed me, for a little while." "...Should I be taking notes on all this?"

Harold

Joyce, when Dina finds out about what happened with the suit: "Gimme three steps, gimme three steps, Dina, gimme three steps towards the door / Gimme three steps, gimme three steps, Dina, and you'll never see-a me no more"

Harold

And now I've got "Hat boy needs therapy, hat boy needs therapy" running through my head

5099 5618 v2.0

@Shane Wagner Given how things went with Walky and how he responded to her and Joyce getting together (and how), I think it's definitely for the best he wasn't dating her at the time.

5099 5618 v2.0

@Michael Flannagan And her arch-nemesis. Can't forget that. He hasn't had them fight over him, directly, but the strip isn't over, yet. Bonus: I suspect previous-timeline Danny would find current developments regarding this Danny delightful.

5099 5618 v2.0

@Harold "Nah, there's a wiki. You can bookmark it and check the link for updates. Amber keeps it pretty current. 'least I think Amber's the one doing it. She and Amazi-Girl kinda share a body." "...what?"

5099 5618 v2.0

@Harold Alternately-> Stacey O'Malley: "THIS IS THE BEST REVENGE EVER!"

5099 5618 v2.0

@Tessea "Hey, we saw you walking with your son in the dorms and we just wanted to say we *love* your vibe ;-D"

5099 5618 v2.0

@S-K And she's just getting started. Next shell refer to [ Amber | Mazie ] as "the round girl" whenever she comes up

5099 5618 v2.0

@Harold Like that old Gauntlet game? ("Green Elf needs food badly!"?)

Harold

@5099 5618 v2.0: "Wait, what? I thought YOU were Amazi-Girl!" [Sal grits teeth, shakes fists] "BILLINGSWORTH!!!"

Harold

@5099 5618 v2.0: Oh, sure. The first time that particular crackship was suggested, I dubbed it The Richard Rosenthal Mutual Depreciation Society.

Harold

@5099 5618 v2.0: No, like the comedy sample in "Frontier Psychiatrist" by The Avalanches (2000). "That boy needs therapy / (Psychosomatic) / That boy needs therapy"

Harold

I believe the preferred nomenclature is "Thicc Dorothy"

Maude Reads Things

No, she doesn't. Dorothy hasn't had a spine like that in a long time. The last time I saw THAT Dorothy was 'future commander-in-chief'. I don't care who she's dating, but I don't find 'Oh, she was ~inspired~ to find her true (read: more nebulous, less 'unrealistic') ambition by ~TWU WUV~' and so she's gonna stay in Indiana' to be better just because the Twu Wuv is a girl. She can have a girlfriend and still want to be President.

5099 5618 v2.0

@Harold (/Three months later) Joe: "Hey, how's my favorite girl-sized Jaeger?" Amber: "we're not siblings anymore, Joe. You don't have to keep talking to me." J: "Actually, we are. You hadn't heard?" A: "...heard what?"

5099 5618 v2.0

@Harold Preferred by Sal when she's on her nerves, tho?

Harold

Facts are simple and facts are straight / Facts are lazy and facts are late Facts all come with points of view / Facts don't do what I want them to Facts just twist the truth around / Facts are living turned inside-out Facts are getting the best of them / Facts are nothing on the face of things - Talking Heads, "Crosseyed and Painless" (1980)

Andrea Andrew

Dorothy has a spine. So cope, Maude.

Kelly (they-them)

@Fart Are you one of the other women she should kiss about it?

Maude Reads Things

Not like she used to. And I dunno why you're being rude about me not being into this storyline. I don't have a problem with anybody enjoying it, I'm just stating I don't and why. So you can feel free to cope yourself.

Andrea Andrew

Fair enough. Agree to disagree, and sorry for being rude.

Maude Reads Things

It's all good. I know they're your favourite ship and you're REALLY excited they got together and I honestly do love that for you. Who hasn't gotten heated about someone raining on their parade before? I'm sorry I got heated too. For clarity, my issue is less with Joyce/Dorothy and more about Dorothy's giving up her political ambitions - if she'd given them up because Walky inspired her to start a tv show or she got with Amber and gave them up to superhero or dated Jacob and decided actually she's good just being a lawyer, I'd be annoyed too. That's unrelated to Joyrothy and related to overall media tropes that annoy me.
