I want to say that I love Carla's storyline. She's in a pretty unique position, as she's always been presented as someone who, by her own description, stands out amongst the cast for liking her parents a lot. We know they've been very kind to her, have supported her, and have backed that up with gestures both grand and small. But, she is being presented with the human cost of her parents' work, and finds difficulty reconciling these sides of them. It's a very real conflict, just on a grander scale than most of us would ever encounter. Like, there are plenty of people who probably have a beloved parent who has cheated on a spouse, gotten a DUI, or some other awful thing, and they had to reckon with that being another very real facet of who they are as a person. It's tough.
