Charlie has been learning Instant Transmission from Dina it seems.

5099 5618 v2.0

She's a keeper, kid. Hold on to that one.

Sajuuk-Khar

They are so perfect and so gay

Simon Magid

these two are so great together I can't even :)

Astariel

Aww, that's wonderful!

Omnithea

That's adorable.

Packy Anderson

Was panel 1 a buffer preview image? It looks really familiar...

Star Ringer

Read that in the Super Smash Announcer voice

Star Ringer

If she keeps that up, it's gonna be hard not to

Tessea

Okay, I love Charlie even more than I did yesterday. She is one of the best, even if we don't always see it.

Packy Anderson

If it was, I can't seem to find it. 🙁

KiasyonSFM

Smooth Charlie, smooooooth

Tessea

*gasp!* Carla took off her roller skates? Is that allowed outside of Slipshine?

Dan Rabin

Clever strip all around. In panel 1, the camera is looking up at the two of them, with the shorter Charlie further away and taking up less screen space, crammed into a corner of the frame. Then we get alternating-single-speaker panels, with the height difference maintained. Panels 4 and 5 set up and execute a communication that only works visually, with Charlie affirming that she's with Carla (in multiple senses), and Carla showing surprise at Charlie's physical movement into the circle of her arm both in her face and in the fingers of her right hand being spread. As a bonus, Carla's skates are in the lower right corner of the two last frames, and if you compare Carla and Charlie's relative heights in this strip with the previous strip in which Carla has just arrived back in her room on the skates, it's evident that Willis has drawn Charlie coming up on Carla's face by about a skate-height's worth. All in a day's work for a careful artist, I guess, but it's nice to see the care taken.

Harold

@Packy Anderson: There was a Carla-and-Charlie preview panel with similar poses, but it wasn't this one (Carla was pointing, rather than holding her phone). That strip ran a while ago, I think.

Gale Tazzin

this is genuinely so romantic, especially harkening back to "I'm used to being everyone's acceptable losses"

Maude Reads Things

Awww! But how could anyone STAY mad at Charlie? It's unpossible

Shane Wegner

Blast radius? I’m guessing amusement. “Mom! Dad! Did you know genocide is wrong?!” “Yes, dear, we’d heard that. Are you taking your first ethics course this semester?”

Johanne

Awwww Charlie, wow what a declaration of love 😭

This strip made my heart grow three sizes this day. Have we seen *anybody* be this supportive to Carla? We've seen Ruth throw her under the bus re: Mary, Joyce being very weird while trying to be supportive, and in so many of her other interactions, she's always got her affective armor of audacity on. She's loud and bombastic and we do love that for her over here, but at the same time, that's gotta cover up how hard it is for her to be vulnerable because in so many situations it is simply not safe for her to be vulnerable. And this is probably the most vulnerable and open she's ever been, and Charlie's just... there. I can't imagine a better response. Hell yeah Charlie's in the blast radius, that's THEIR potential impact crater.
