Watching Joyce about to realize the shattered state of her pretty perfect princess of a friend, in whom she's had more faith than anyone since she stopped having faith in Jesus Christ...it's still not as yikesy as spending more time with Linda Walkerton, but it's real close. Once, I was 100% sure that there was no romantic or sexual desire in this relationship on either end. I'm only about 80% sure now. But I'm really hoping I was right, or at least that Dorothy isn't making a play for Joyce here. Because if Joyce rejects it, then that's kind of a sadder echo of Joyce and Becky, and if Joyce accepts it... I believe in love. It can heal. It can enrich. My own life is richer for having a partner in it. But I know what college love is like, and the problems Dorothy is having right now, it is NOT EQUIPPED TO FIX. Best-case scenario is that Joyce AND Joe become part of Dorothy's support system. Best case ain't always the interesting case, though!

I think that Dorothy and Joyce could be potentially be great or at least very interesting romantic/sexual partners. I think under the right circumstances, with the air cleared and honesty prevailing, a Joyce/Joe/Dorothy polycule could be really wholesome, fun, or both. Right now, though, in these circumstances, I think either outcome is, exactly as you indicate, a teeeeerrrrible idea. It’s 100% likely to cause suffering. Unfortunately I’m also pretty convinced Dotty’s making a play.
