I’m not a huge Tim Burton fan, but I love this one. I still think of Winona Ryder spinning in the snow when I’m sad. And when came out, everyone was like “Wait. That’s the pretty boy?” Digging it. Oh, and the obligatory “You look very beautiful today. Next time can you watch The Warriors? In your high heeled shoes and a low-neck sweater.”

And I really loved the live stream the other night. I watched it On the Road.

I saw this in the theater, and remember thinking that I had just seen something totally original. A plot that had never been done before. And I think it's Danny Elfman's most beautiful score. I once had the opportunity to tell him that (I was working a show he was doing). But I didn't. I was walking past his dressing room, the door was open and he was reclining on a couch reading a stereo magazine. I wanted to stick my head in and tell him how much I had liked this score (which was new at the time), but I thought to myself, "Just leave the poor schmuck alone. He's just trying to relax and read a magazine for a few minutes." So I didn't bother him. Celebs are just people, too. In an interview he said he was surprised how many people liked this score, since it was basically Eastern European folk music. And it dawned on me that it was. It's old European romanticism. And the movie sort of is, too. The castle on the mountain is also a metaphor for Edward. Dark and foreboding on the outside, but beautiful and sweet once to get closer (Edward is also obviously Tim Burton's surrogate). I always tear up at the end. It's also my favorite of Burton's films. It was Vincent Price's last film (I also got to attend a lecture he gave once on the place of Evil in literature and film.) Price was a gifted actor, gourmet chef, and art collector! Depp and Price became friends during filming. Price counseled Depp to "buy art."

The great thing about watching you Kat is my buddy came over and watched this and we watched the season finale to Welcome To Derry. When that dude threw in that reference to another Steven King movie. My friend and I looked at each other like holy smokes. That show was good girlfriend hated it. We watched this movie with Cassie last year. I think you showed a lot more respect for Tim Burton. She is not a big Tim Burton fan. Well my gf and I have to finish Scrooge when she gets home.
