Unfortunantly, your cut didn't have the musical overture. It's more than 4 minutes long of a montage of the soundtrack. King Kong was the very first movie to have music written expressly for the film, ao I'm sure the producers would be proud of that. Many movies of this era included overtures, although they were usually reserved for longer films. They gave the late-arriving patrons a chance to find their seats, before the times when you were inundated with ads and previews.

Is this a reupload? Or was this put on YouTube but there was no full length?

David Martin

I had your audio plus the movie's, instead of just commentary. That means I can't listen to the audio on my copy of the movie if I want to hear your commentary. There are many, many sources of information of the techical breakthroughs pioneered by this film. Green screen is a digital thing. The creatures were stop-motion, steel models with movable joints that were then covered with "skin".

Kat released it on YouTube first. Not sure why. I wish now that I hadn’t watched it because I would’ve preferred watching the full reaction to this fantastic classic.

Thank you very much for posting posting this.

Your right, no greenscreen back then, but surprisingly, they did use a forerunner to greenscreen for a few shots called the Dunning Matte Process. The best example was the scene where Kong was tossing the sailors off the log. The Dunning Process rarely achieved good results in those day, and was at the time experimental, but the Kong crew managed to get some good results.

This is the second time I've watched your full reaction to this; the first was a few months ago. I love this movie. I first saw it when I was a little kid at the drive-in theater around 50 years ago. You should check out the 2005 remake. I'm not a big fan of remakes, but they did a great job on that one. I'm still waiting for you to start the Universal Monsters, but I'm beginning to give up hope.

No, she did upload a blurred-out full reaction to this a few months ago that I watched, but for some reason she removed it and reposted it with the whole movie in the lower-right corner.

This is the second time she has posted this; I don't have the best memory, but I would swear that the first time she posted this, she left the Overture in.

You know there is a cheesy 80's slasher called New Years Evil, right?

This Film is the real reason that I am and will always be a avid Horror Fan. I cannot put into words how much I am intrigued by your masterful reviews both insightful and hilarious. Continued success.

HI NATALIE!! Thanks for joining!! I'm so happy you like the movie on screen format. I've tried it with TV shows and people seem to prefer it, so now it's the new format for TV shows moving forward (All X-Files Episodes, and Firefly COMING SOON!), but I am just now trying it for movies and listening to feedback! The next few will still be need your own copy versions, but if people prefer it for movies as well, it will be the new format moving forward starting likely in February! I just have to make sure people are okay with the change of format before I commit!! I HOPE THAT MAKES SENSE!! THANKS AGAIN FOR JOINING!! KAT:D

My mother told me this story. She was just 10 years old when this movie came out, so of course she couldn't see it. But two of her older brothers snuck her in anyway. She said she held it together until the natives start to drag Ann to the altar. As Ann stared up at the altar, my mother peed her pants! I suspect she wasn't the only one in the theater who did so.
