The red string unwinds from its button and the folder falls open. Ministry stock, green board, the stamp still sharp: REQUISITION 101/D — SUPPLEMENTAL POLLING & MATERIEL — DARKEYEV2 BOARD, PATREON. Classification: Routine.
Alright, there we go: a proper poll for this month, just a couple of days off its start.
I might, maybe, perhaps, perchance, have some time this month to do things. That said, I would like to use it by working on - or at least to keep on brainstorming and testing out - the next game idea. Last post I was closer to Interweb... now I'm leaning back towards Frontier Gourmand! It's a more interesting setting, more ambitious of a gameplay, I've been enjoying myself writing it, and want to do something investigative in nature. Its main character is also not looking bad herself:
OBJECT - mirror
A small thing in a painted porcelain frame, hung at someone else's height - too tall - beside the coat stand. It's currently giving you your face and shoulders, and you tip it a degree to get the rest of what's on offer.
You face is looking thinner than the face you used to review dinners under. Cheekbones you never really wanted, and the jaw has a line to it as well, which some women would pay for - not you. The eyes are still blue, the skin still pale, if a little paler. And the hair is keeping its platinum, the dye doing its work for the cover, except at the parting, where a sly eighth-inch of red is starting to tell the truth about your original colors. Ugh, how annoying. You'll have to see to that this weekend.
You step back for the figure. The dress is good, at least. Dark green, severe, cut by a tailor who understood the assignment and worth every ration coupon of the salary that paid him, and it fills where it should fill, because you are still, thank heaven, a woman of some substance. But... alas! It is less substance. The old glory is gone from the bust and the hips both, rationed off you ounce by ounce, and when you reach for the shelf the blouse still pulls across your generous chest, but it's not the same. You smooth the skirt down over your stomach, frowning at not finding a curve there.
You look fine. You look like a ministry official of good taste, which is the job. But somewhere under the tailoring there is a larger woman who ate much, much, much, much better, and you intend, you very much intend, to get her back.
:)
But then, you might ask yourself, what do we need a poll for? Well, we're going back to the system that was in place when working on Spirit of Hunger: the options are extra, bonus stuff: maybe a set of drawings, some sprites, that sort of thing! No writing options this time around, not after a whole month of it, and also this project.
Alright, have at it!
