This is the movie I was talking about in the post yesterday! Certainly didn't hate it, just wasn't best movie ever!

Manny

I'm with you on this, but, I'm Air Force slanted. Not the best aviation film. The Navy Makes Movies, the Air Force kills Migs, and SAM sites.

Louis Marzullo

Dawn: The Great Santini. Who's with me??

Bartleby

Tom Cruise’s two greatest performances. “Born on the Fourth of July” (1989) “Interview With the Vampire” (1994) Two classic films.

Manny

Val Kilmer really does have throat cancer

WouldYouKindly

it's a good flick not great but i reckon the last Mission Impossible was the best, yet it flopped so what do i know lol....sad about Val Kilmer.Thx as always.

Louis Marzullo

And "Eyes Wide Shut". Because, Kubrick. And to hear Dawn say "What?? Whaaaat??", like, ten times 🥰

Louis Marzullo

So glad this was the one you were talking about & not The Poseidon Adventure. Then again, you may hate The Poseidon Adventure! 😄

JL Green

Yaaaaaa! You see why will always appreciate your opinion? It doesn't matter if you have a different feeling from mine, it allows me to see things from a different perspective!!!

john ruddick

I 100% agree with you opinion. Its alright but it's kind of a remake of the original. The action is well done but the script is poor really. Funny at points but not great just an ok movie but more of a nostalgia ride really. Oh and the birds are the real victim....... 🐧🐥🐣🐤🐦 😭

john ruddick

My favourite plane based movie is "Flight of the Intruder" it's not that amazing but it's a true story and really shows how brave some of those pilots were.

Manny

Haaaa.....sorry bruh..United States Marine Corps.....Department of....who??

Louis Marzullo

"You do appreciate beauty, don't you? There you are, $600,000 on 4 teats. I bet not even Dawn would pay that much!"

Manny

Department of the Navy....it says it on their official emblem. AND I think they still have to play Anchors Away, BEFORE they play the Marine song.

john ruddick

I'm sure she would find the money somehow!!!! For the love of moos!!!! 🐄🐃🐂🐮

Louis Marzullo

Ouch 😖. I think this helps explain Jessup's hostility towards Kaffee in A Few Good Men & that remark about Navy uniforms.

Manny

Not me man, my dad flew P2V Neptune's during the Cold War......when we grew up and were Los Angeles coppers, we called him the Great Santini and he was embarrassed by it (mellowed with age) "I was never that bad"......"yea dude....you were". He passed on in '85, I wouldn't be able to watch it.

john ruddick

The cast is a standout one and the action is very 1970's a good fun piece of nostalgia. I think Dawn will enjoy it not love it but see it as a foundation for all the other disaster movies that come after it.

john ruddick

A good flight simulator is DCS btw it's free and available on steam!!!! It can be very realistic. It would give you a good idea of how hard it can be. 🤗

Ragnar Miersch

My heart quivers every time I hear Dawn say "I love an old man". I'm 66 and it's good to know there's at least one person out there that will "Love me Forever".

Bartleby

I’m just relieved she wasn’t talking about 12 Monkeys. That would have been devastating if Dawn didn’t love that one.

Bartleby

This movie is what you call Back to basics. Or Back to fundamentals Which Hollywood was in desperate need of post Covid, failing box offices and so many misguided decision. This film won’t stand out if you’re in the midst of watching many classics. But it was exactly the movie that was needed for the movie industry and to remind the audience of what the cinema experience could offer.

Bartleby

Val Kilmer’s greatest performance. “The Doors” (1991) Based on the true story of the legendary rock band.

Louis Marzullo

You should have saved this for the livestream, Ragnar. It would've gotten one of Dawn's best "Aww's" ever!

Zack Gallardo

Still love "the saint" with Kilmer. Such a cool bond style film with gadgets and tragedy and cool science themes

Louis Marzullo

Dawn, who do you miss the most: Giuseppe, Goose or Vito?

Louis Marzullo

53 years old & "Won't Get Fooled Again" can still make any scene instantly go to Mach 10. LONG LIVE THE WHO 🇬🇧

JL Green

Understood 👍🏾. A very enjoyable film, but best movie ever is a matter of taste.

Manny

Maybe, but it's annoying that there has never been a film about the Wild Weasels, or General Robin Olds, or Thud Ridge, Route Pack 6. Some heeroric $#*+ I must say. I mean you gotta love the Weasels motto "You Got To Be Shitting Me"

Chicago Artist Jon

“ if both sides have robots that do it the same then nobody wins” When I was child during the Cold War with the Soviets that was called Détente, French for Relax, and it was good thing. No one can win, no reason for war.

Wreath35

I agree with you. Not a bad movie, but maybe 1st one it's better.

Nathan Wolff

It's okay Dawn. I don't like Tom Cruise either.

Louis Marzullo

Dawn, this was one my favorite outros. Love how you self-correct in mid-sentence! Also, so glad you realized where you'd seen Rooster before... Tom Cruise. Yeah, he's kind of the male Gwyneth Paltrow, isn't he? Just has that certain quality/look of perpetual smugness (John Ruddick has some stories). Scarlett Johansson's husband is a comedy writer in the U.S. named Colin Jost. Very conventionally handsome guy. He pokes fun at himself all the time. One of his best jokes: "I have a face that looks like I just go around screaming "DO YOU KNOW WHO MY FATHER IS???" at people all day" 😄. That's kind of Tom's face but of course with him it would be DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM??? Anyway, the reaction was enjoyable for a "not really my kind of movie" for me. I'd rather just watch actual footage of real fighter pilots doing their thing. You were plenty enough engaged & invested, which is always the best thing that can happen (unless the film really sucks ass). P.S.- how many robots do you reckon you need for your farm & what would you have them do? 🤖

Matt O'Keefe

My dad generally disliked Tom Cruise. Thought he was cocky. I think he is fine. This movie is fine to me too. Maybe better in a theater. I have seen the original too many times It is ok at best to me.

Al

Val Kilmer was suffering ab illness in real life, Not an act.

Chris

No matter what kind of crap some people might give you, you have every right to not give it "best movie ever". Everyone to their taste. I thoroughly enjoyed the original, and so enjoyed this sequel as well, but that's just me.

Al

The thing about flight simulators - you can't pull Gs.

Bartleby

What nonsense is this? Dawn has seen Tom Cruise play all of two characters. Both times in films in which the story specifically requires a super cocky character as an integral part of the script. So slow your roll cowboy before you try and take the lead position in a conga line of a hate train.

rude alf mcglesga

If you put a blonde wig and lippy on (john wayne, lee mavin, clint eastwood, charles bronson, james cagney, humphry bogart, edward g robinson or clark gable or spencer tracy) they would still look like men, ridiculous men but still men.

rude alf mcglesga

Now think about a blonde wig and lippy on tom cruise,
