Paul Newman

This is an incredible list. Pretty much all of them are amongst the greatest movies of all time

David Harvey

Great list of films! But my favorite is "Amilie" which is a very creative, quirky, and charming film. It will make you smile!

Craig Russell

I still say that any pre 1985 Mel Gibson or Arnold Schwarzenegger (yes, I had to look up the spelling), should have been considered!!

Bill Bryant

I liked the scenery and imagery in Crouching Tiger. Plus Michelle Yeoh is awesome!

Bartleby

Putting up a post to ask suggestions from us before the poll was a great idea champ!! 👍

John Lawton

I voted for Seven Samurai, as it’s very interesting to compare with its Western counterpart Magnificent Seven, which Dawn loved. But boy, at nearly 3.5 hours, it is hard to sit through the whole thing in one viewing!

John W Foster

Man, this poll is full of great movies. I honestly don't care what wins

Richard Stokes

I just loved Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. I find it to be a really beautiful film. And the fight scenes are so graceful. Was one that really was good to watch on the big screen I remember

Bartleby

Google is just as likely to tell you Crocodile Dundee is a foreign film because the first half takes place in Australia

Louis Marzullo

I took my nephew & his girlfriend to see it. They were 18, 19 at the time. They complained all the way to the theater that they were gonna hate it, not their kind of movie, blah, blah, blah. SUBTITLES?!?... They were dazzled, enchanted, transported, riveted, thrilled to the marrow. Went back to see it again... But I still voted for Cinema Paradiso! 🇮🇹😁

Louis Marzullo

Just realized 8 choices represent 8 different countries & 3 continents. Very cool!

Chicago Artist Jon

The more I look at this list the more I'm hoping for an 8 way tie. 12.5 percent for each.

Louis Marzullo

But it doesn't feel nearly that long, it's so dynamic. You know, like 'Sister Ray' doesn't feel like 17 minutes! 🤣

Richard Stokes

Wow that's impressive to get teenagers converted to it, but it is a captivating film in that setting

Bartleby

Directors cut of Cinema Paradiso is a MUST!! Probably won’t be this poll, but let’s hope Dawn gets to it at some point!

Bill W

Because after 7 minutes you press "skip" ? 😅 waka waka!

Eric Janssen

I voted for Amelie, because I thought Dawn had ALREADY seen The Magnificent Seven. One must always watch the Samurai first, but at least this way, maybe we can get Throne of Blood or Hidden Fortress on another poll.

Simon

Yeah, I also voted for Amelie. I think Dawn would find it delightful.

Edward Olson

Just here to point out that "Das Boot" is pronounced more like "Das boat" then "das boot".

JL Green

Hey Dawn. I really loved Cinema Paradiso the most, but the crowd pleaser will be Crouching Tiger... but I'm not mad with that choice either.

Eric Janssen

Suit yourself: I always found Cinema Paradiso maddeningly pointless (Pixar’s “Luca” had more sleepy-postwar-Italian-village plot!), although maybe if I’d heard of most of the iconic Italians films being referenced, I’d have more emotional connection to it.

JL Green

I hear you and appreciate your opinion. It's just my opinion because of the overall theme being a strong love for the tiny towns only art form which happens to be movies, which was also the only time everyone would come together. As generic as that sounds to you I found fascinating.

Louis Marzullo

Well, Cinema Paradiso has no chance. Time to change my vote! 🐅🐉😁

Bartleby

Help give Crouching Tiger a fighting chance because some how I don’t think Das Boot will be the foreign film Dawn will be the most passionate about. If anything it’s the foreign film on the poll Dawn would be the least into. LOL

Bartleby

My vote was for Pan’s Labyrinth for the longest but it doesn’t look like it has a chance this time around.

Tom

There is a newer much longer Cinema Paradiso that makes the movie considerably better. It's all explained
