Yes! Currently in Normandy for the D Day anniversary so I'm well in the WW2 mood. Can't wait to watch this 😁

Ach du lieber Gott, Dawn spricht Deutsch. (via Google translate)

One year you will need to watch the "Longest Day" on June 6

Robert Inman

Remember Dawn, these U-Boats needed to run on the surface with their diesel engines most of the time. They could go faster, 10-20 knots, charge batteries, and see good distances for targets and danger. When submerged they might hit 5-6 knots on their electric motors, and we're limited to maybe 2 days because of air and battery life.

Also The Downfall. Another wonderful German WWII movie.

Most movies give a good depiction of you 'being there', but this movie REALLY makes you feel like you are right there, in the moment. You feel all the claustrophobia, the fear & panic, the realism. WWII is a touchy subject in Germany, but so many of the best WWII movies get made there; Das Boot, Stalingrad, Downfall. Really enjoyed this reaction!

Robert Inman

After all - this was a story about the men put in incredible stress, and it had little to say about the war's standing. (Other than a bit of distain for posturing by people removed from the crew's realities)

Eric Bonham

I haven't watched this since it was first released, so it was almost like watching it for the first time again.

Chicago Artist Jon

If ever in Chicago, I highly recommend visiting the captured German U-Boat exhibit U-505 at the Museum of Science and Industry. It's very cool. You get to go onboard.
