Star Trek with Jen is always “must see TV” 🔥🖖 also I think that’s my new favourite thumbnail 😂😂

Rob Nichols

Being turned into a spider when you're so deathly afraid of them, yeah much therapy needed.

Julian San

I always loved this episode. Star Trek does horror!

Banes

I just rewatched this one after a long time. Oh, yeah, it's definitely freaky! Scary and kinda fun!

Bobby Coolbreeze

Funny thing about spot, i believe spot started out as a male cat? I least that’s what I remember? Lol As far as the episode this one was good and freaky like a horror movie.

Rob Nichols

They used whatever orange cat they could get on any given day. Lassie was always played by a male collie.

Curran Dobbs

I've been on a bit of a horror kick recently. A friend came over recently and we watched the movie Black Sabbath (1963) which was an Italian horror movie that the band was named after.

Lintrinsic

You aren't imagining it, Spot was always referred to as "he" until this season. Mind you, she's also been a different breed. And 3 or 4 different cats. Maybe he assumed he had a neutered Tom, never checked and ignored signs she was going into heat, or maybe something timey-wimey happened Most likely the writers either forgot or thought they'd get away with retconning it.

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

I like this one. Not only am I down for the sci-fi horror vibe in the second half, I also very much enjoy going back and matching our crews early behaviour to what they ended up turning into later on. Really gives all our guys a chance to do some fun acting. Dwight Schultz in particular is always a joy to watch.

Geoff S.

Would have been perfect if this episode had landed near Halloween. I love how no one mentions the guy that got his spine snapped in three different places at the end or who did it. I think Spot got a really good agent for this season. She is popping up in a lot of these!

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

Worf said just go ahead and cast all strength and protection buffs all at once 😬 Just a total tank, good grief.

Lintrinsic

Any semblance of evolutionary science is complete bunk in this episode, but nevertheless I have a soft spot for it. It's so atmospheric and weird with excellent direction from McFadden and so many creature effects there's a lot to like about it. There's a video on YouTube where Gates McFadden did a live directors commentary of this episode at a convention, but she may mention spoilers, it's been a while since I watched it so I'm not certain. Apparently there was an earthquake that interrupted the production. She would have liked to put Spider-Barclay in a harness and drop him into shot from above for that jump-scare. Dwight Schultz was up for it, but the budget wouldn't stretch that far. Good thing too. I think the entire audience would have shat themselves. Oh, RIP Ensign Dern.

phillip giroux

There would be so much poop all over the ship.

Lee R.

Never liked this one! It was just all over the place and "devolved" into ridiculousness. Worf would have killed or eaten a lot of the crew. Just glad as horny as he was that he didn't "mate" with Picard and his pheromone spray lol

TigerMyth

Lol. I completely forgot about Barclay. That got me good. Your scream didn't help. lol. 34:20. for the scream heard all through Patreon.

Markus W.

That episode gave me nightmare when I watched it as a kid 😱

Summer

Watching with Jen is the best

Summer

The cat is the best part

Lintrinsic

From the part where Worf opens the hatch and she looks at the nacelle, to him grabbing her to stop her from jumping was a hallucination. It's in the dialogue, and her clothes even changed. WORF: I opened the maintenance door at Counsellor Troi's request, then turned to see her standing too close to the force field. TROI: It all seemed so real to me. I can't believe that everything I experienced happened in just those few seconds

Opti_Frog

I have seen this episode several times before, and Barclay got me too this time. 😄

Jason Weiner

Nothing would ruin this show(and most) like a romance! Keep the personal BS out of ALL great shows!

William Rosmer

maybe i just like bad episodes too, but i've always liked this one

Summer

I am sorry you were not warned about the spider man

Summer

You mentioned you will be watching scary things, take care of yourself and laugh with Garfield holiday specials

Lintrinsic

No, Worf opens the door at 20:35, they get it on at 29:00. You're wrong. The scene with Worf and Riker was real, the shagging was part of the hallucination.

Curran Dobbs

I blame transporter accidents.

Desmond

This episode is not well regarded by a lot of people, but I've always had a soft spot for it. Mostly because it really freaked me out as a kid, and had decent creature effects.

TigerMyth

I get why people don't like it but it had a lot of creepy atmosphere even if the science behind it was weak.

Lintrinsic

She snapped out of it, standing at the door, in the uniform. There was no drifting in and out. It didn't happen. I don't know what research you did, but at a cursory glance Google AI says it never happened, Memory Alpha states from the end of act 2 to act 3 is an hallucination, with more discussion to support that on the episode talk page. You have this wrong.

Lintrinsic

Google AI "No, Troi and Worf did not actually sleep together in "Eye of the Beholder"; the scenes where they get together were part of Troi's elaborate, ship-wide hallucination triggered by Lieutenant Kwan's death."

Lintrinsic

You just posted spoilers and nothing that proved your argument.

Lintrinsic

Again, why are you still posting spoilers about the remaining episodes and movies? That in no way proves they boinked in Eye of the Beholder. Not at all. You got the timing of events in the episode wrong. You claimed the internet agrees with you and it doesn't. Not sure why you want to die on this hill in spite of all evidence, and post a load of spoilers that prove nothing, but you do you.

Marco Borromeo

One of my favourite episodes, although it falls into the 'not essential or adding anything substantial to the canon' - category, but it's just (very well made) fun. There are indeed some very nice long shots in this, incl. the use of light, etc. (I always wondered if McFadden's dancing background was an influence as well, leading to that..). As I pointed out before, the series' limitations - as much as I love it - are getting more obvious over the days and decades, and the older you get probably..: Thinking about it.. More then 1000 people, humans and non-humans on board, incl children and pets, and all of them transforming this way.. puhh.. That would be my dream as a former set designer.. Much, much more of a mess our ship would be than we saw it.. Well, with that budget.. 😉 Anyway, it's entertaining and well done. Given the usual, very short 43 min the episodes last.. I always had regrets as a teen watching this, not seeing more of Worf's appearance in the dark.. I was so curious.. I could imagine that episode must have had an even more intense impact on you Jen, since you just became a mother.. besides the 'spider shock' moments.. Anyway, always a pleasure watching your reactions and Star Trek in particular..🙏🏻

Over50Gamer

First Spot, then Alyssa?? What in the hell are they putting in the replicators!? 🙀 Sorry... after that intro, i just had to.

Over50Gamer

After the episode: I think I recall Gates saying she really wanted to have fun with directing this one and go full-on Halloween horror vibes. She definitely succeeded!

jon bolton

I don't know why this episode has a bad reputation, i love it. Okay i admit i also love a number of others most fans hate, but with those i can understand why most people don't like them, but not this one.

William Rosmer

so, fun fact cat litters can have multiple fathers.

William Rosmer

honestly if we saw worf better it'd probably have been less effective.

Joe Concepts

I always liked this one. The series is winding down, and they tried to do a horror episode. I thought it worked well.

Joe Concepts

I really really wish they didn't have an excuse for Picard freaking out because he was being affected by the disease. I know the guy is a calm and collected person, but come on, a jump scare in the dark by a weird scary creature... it's not reasonable that Picard would ACTUALLY be scared? Why not? OR maybe Data just said that to make him feel better.

Marco Borromeo

True of course. You might see episodes differently when you're younger😉

Curran Dobbs

Same. I like this one. Granted, some of the science is a stretch, even by Star Trek standards, but still, I enjoy this one as one of the "Fun horror episodes.

Curran Dobbs

Probably easy for people to guess but Dr. Crusher gets taken out of the plot early on to free up Gates McFadden to focus more on the directing.

Bernie Zwicky

Do you have any plans for doing the “Voyager” series, which followed the “Deep Space Nine” series? I thought it was a great show and a lot of fun to watch!😊

Summer

I hope so there is a lot Jen will like, it has 117 votes on the request site last I checked

Bernie Zwicky

Good to hear! May I ask…what request site? I’m a full member, but I’m not familiar with that.

Clay F

VOY 1-1 starts immediately after DS9 3-12 per the air date schedule. Including Voyager won convincingly in a December poll. https://www.patreon.com/posts/ok-big-tv-poll-117772887 Yet, I don’t know what’s been decided. I like Voyager. I would welcome a reactio to Voyager, but that’s a huge commitment for Jen to add Voyager.

Struzzylive

Man her scream is making me RP on that lol
