**Please don't get too hung up on the theme of this poll!👍

**** VOTE FOR ALL YOU WOULD WATCH A REACTION TO!! **** I may in future watch more than top choice if others get lots of votes! Movies not chosen doesn't mean they will never be watched. They are still on my to-watch list so make sure you go upvote them on MOVIE REQUEST SITE

** How did I make this poll? On my MOVIE REQUEST SITE, I filtered by the Genre "Horror" and sorted "Chronological" > "Newer". I chose movies I was most interested in and those that had higher votes, from years 90's-present, except any that have already been on recent polls.

I marked them with 🫣 ratings for how scared I am to watch them lol 😂

I'm gonna have to go with "What We Do in the Shadows" on this one.

Dylan

Wow what a list. So many great horror films to choose from but as always I’m picking all of them cause it doesn’t matter which one wins I’m just super excited for Jen’s reaction to it 🔥🔥🔥

Arthur 'Two Sheds' Jackson

A lot of great stuff, but Grindhouse is a DOUBLE FEATURE 😁😁 but when Army of Darkness is on the poll just after Evil Dead II, it's gonna run away with it 😄

thansen

The Exorcist cured me of any notion another movie can genuinely scare me so some good did come from watching it. The Ring, Jeepers Creepers, Sleepy Hollow and The Frighteners are my favorites. Army of Darkness is winning and I do like that best in the Evil Dead trilogy. The rest are one and done.

nick bell

Love Sleepy Hollow

Rob Nichols

Sleepy Hollow is great, but I think I prefer the Disney animated version. Grindhouse is fun in that WTF kinda way, and yay Army Of Darkness!

Max du Coudray

Surely not Army of Darkness before Evil Dead II?

John DiGiantomasso

You asked about a serialized TV series to do. I recommended "Arrested Development." But my second choice was "What We Do in the Shadows." That is a ton of fun, too, as a TV series.

Clay F

Many good choices in this poll. My top 2: -Get Out (2017) -Let the Right One In (2008) I also voted: -Sinners (2025) -Weapons (2025) -The Menu (2022) -The Invisible Man (2020) -Midsommar (2019) -Annihilation (2018) -Hereditary (2018) -It (2017) -It Follows (2015) -The Witch (2015) -What We Do in the Shadows (2014) -Grindhouse (2007) -The Descent (2005) -Werewolf by Night (2022) I hope doesn't win: -Army of Darkness (1992) -The Frighteners (1996)

Amarant Coral

I am in for The Descent, Let the Right One In, and The Faculty . May add more votes to break ties in a few days. Great poll! Thanks Jen 🙏🏻

Rob Nichols

Jen posted Evil Dead 2 last night.

mikethemotormouth

And it's only Planet Terror that is kind of body horror while Death Proof is more of a thriller

Max du Coudray

Weird. I see the first posted three days ago but not the second.

mikethemotormouth

Again, I stress It(1990) is much more paced to your speed. It(2017) and It Chapter Two(2019) are really intense. Also a 3 hour one-off vs a 5 hour two parter? And aren't you already phobic of clowns? Do the former first and build up to the newer

Christian Rennie

Hands down Army of Darkness. This is the best "scary" movie for Jen because it isn't scary at all.

Bret Kay

Evil Dead 2 posted 23 hours ago. About to watch it right now! Jen posted Evil Dead 1 on Sept. 14

DrJonasVenture

Lots of great choices. Hereditary has become a favorite of mine. Toni Collette gives one of the best performances in recent years.

Miles E Coburn

And just as we told you about "The Exorcist", I don't think it would be a good idea for you to subject yourself to "Hereditary".

Amarant Coral

If you are not in the $7 tier (full length watch-a-long tier), then Evil Dead 2 won't show up in your timeline yet. You might be in the $4 Early Access Youtube tier, but not the $7 full length watch-a-long tier. If this doesn't apply to you just ignore me 😆 just theorizing.

Kristin

Army of Darkness, because this trilogy is worth finishing. And Sleepy Hollow because more of a spooky horror movie then it is a gross horror movie. One of my favorites.

Kristin

Full length, not the youtube edit.

Bryan Tuck

The Frighteners is a lot of fun. It's a really good mix of funny and scary, and it's more "roller coaster ride" scary than traumatizing. :) Of course, it's also an interesting link between Peter Jackson's earlier low-budget horror films and The Lord Of The Rings.

Banes

I imagine Army of Darkness will be the runaway winner haha. This list is great though - so many great ones here

Collinson

Wow so many good films. I really want The Witch as it's a personal favourite but I won't be disappointed with the majority of films here winning. Hopefully The Witch gets another chance at some point.

Over50Gamer

Ohhhh I imagined IT (parts 1 & 2) would have been on your "Hell-to-the-fuck-NO!!" list, Jen! Brave of you to put it on here. I put my vote in for it. Both movies really do go together for the full story. I voted for a few others, including Annihilation (which is an underrated masterpiece, IMHO)

mikethemotormouth

And that initial assumption is why I'm pushing for It(1990) instead. It's like taking a newbie into the world of metal: you don't give them Cattle Decapitation, Pig Destroyer and Infant Annihilator off the bat; you ease them into it with Sabbath, Metallica, Judas Priest, etc. We should want to lure her into the horror pool, not throw her into the deep end.

Over50Gamer

You may have a point there; my gateway into growl vocals was Kalmah (melodic death)

Jason Scade

+1 to finish the trilogy. YT audiences love complete franchises.

Jason Scade

I agree. Watching Hereditary is like being smashed in the spiritual skull with a malevolent, cursed sledgehammer. I'd leave it for a Halloween or three. However, Exorcist III (1990), is an excellent sequel. It's only a 15 cert, nowhere near as gross or intense as Ex.1. It's more a supernatural police investigation movie than a grotesque, balls-to-the-wall horror. Synopsis; Set 15 years after the events of Ex.1... Detective Kinderman, from the first movie, is now heading an investigation into serial killings that have the same M.O. as an unsub believed dead or inactive for 15 years. His investigating leads him to a semi-catatonic man in an asylum for the criminally insane... Kinderman is played by Oscar winning, acting legend George C. Scott (Patton, 12 Angry Men, etc. etc. etc.) Excellent performance! It's an incredibly tense, brooding and attention commanding experience. I do hope you'll consider it one day, Jen. It's a good wrap up to The Exorcist. And it's based on the novel Legion, which is the direct sequel to the novel The Exorcist, both by the same author. As a comparison for you, Ex.3 is significantly less terrifying than Evil Dead II. It's such a good story and it's so compelling, it's worth sitting through for non-horror fans. George C. Scott is excellent in it as a seasoned man of justice and reason who comes face to face incomprehensible evil. Brad Dourif gives an unforgettable performance as Patient X (you know Dourif as young Billy from Cuckoo's Nest [had a stutter] and also as Grima Wormtongue, who was Saruman's servant in The Two Towers). Brad Dourif is one incredibly gifted actor, his performance in Ex-3 is another reason why it is unmissable. Please, save 2 hours of your life, and forget about Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977). In the early 2000s, when I eventually watched it, for the first and only time I'll ever watch it, I was so annoyed at how crap it was, I wrote a letter of complaint to Warner Bros., complaining about the time I'd wasted and what were they going to do about it? Didn't get a reply. Was f***ing furious! Wrote another letter. For about 10+ years after it was made, Ex-2 was widely considered to be one of the worst films of all time and *the* worst sequel of all time. Which was very disappointing, as it had great talent onscreen (Richard Burton, James Earl Jones) and the director, John Boorman, can and has made great movies. He directed Excaliber, The Mosquito Coast, The Emerald Forest, etc. He also directed Deliverance (1972), which is essential 70s thriller/drama viewing. Four city guys take a vacation into the mountains and are death hunted by overly affectionate hillbillies. Stars Burt Reynolds, Jon Voight, etc.

Amarant Coral

I think mine for melodic death was In Flames back in 2002. Currently doing a deep dive on their 90s discography actually.

Byrd N. Hand

If it were just "Death-Proof," I'd vote for it. It's Tarantino's weakest film, but I feel that's mostly by design, given what it is.

Jason Scade

Toni Collette is an incredibly good actor. And sexy AF. 😍 I fancied her in Muriel's Wedding back in the day, to be honest.

Jason Scade

After 1 & 2, it's a Halloween episode of The Simpsons level of scary. She'll enjoy lots, I reckon. Yup, I reckon so.

Jason Scade

No, THANK YOU for being here! 🏆 Great line-up! I'm very excited for your The Omen. That film is long rumored to be cursed and some people involved with its making suffered dreadful events. Of course, bad things happen to people all the time, whether they are involved with making movies or not. But, long ago, I read that one of the behind-the-scenes folks from The Omen was involved in a fatal car crash, not long after the film had wrapped. And tragically unfortunate woman was decapitated in the crash. And the crash happened near a road sign that indicated it was 66.6 kilometers away from the town of Ommen, with the fatal accident occurring on Friday 13th. *Just checked, I'd remembered correctly. :| The Omen's Cursed Production story; https://collider.com/the-omen-curse-production/ We watched the latest Conjuring movie, it was okay. Not the best, not the worst. We also watched The First Omen, which is a prequel to your scheduled title. It was okay too, it was pretty well acted but I just didn't find it frightening. Earlier this year, we watched 'Longlegs' (2024) by Osgood Perkins, it was steeped in ominous malevolence, it's creepy, unnerving, unsettling. Frankly, it's satanic. Often, it reminded me of The Silence of the Lambs. It's a well crafted horror by a master. Not as disturbing as Hereditary, but similar. One of the film's posters; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longlegs#/media/File:Longlegs_film_poster.jpg Incidentally, Osgood is the son of Anthony Perkins (Psycho, etc.). As well as Longlegs (2024), he also directed another superb, slow-burning horror film called The Black Coat's Daughter (2015). It's a supernatural psychological horror. Really excellent. Synopsis; During the dead of winter, a troubled young woman embarks on a mysterious journey to an isolated prep school where two stranded students face a sinister threat from an unseen evil force. Poster for Blackcoat's Daughter; https://www.tvinsider.com/show/the-blackcoats-daughter/

Amarant Coral

Nothing stood a chance against it. The Evil Dead trilogy films have been blowing all the other films out of the water in each poll. Not to mention Army of Darkness is the #4 most requested movie on Jen's movie site out of every movie on the site.

Goddess of Empathy

I shall not be watching IT with you, I am too scared of clowns! 🤣

Stefan Loferer

Great list! I voted for quite a bunch of the movies. Hereditary is probably my absolute favorite modern horror movie and the most disturbing one I have seen. I'd also like to mention The Descent here. Awesome atmosphere and sound design. Loved it! But I think there are 2 versions with different endings: the original european version and an alternate american cut. The first one is far superior in my opinion but that depends of course.

Patrick

I think there's maybe only 4 on this list i'm not too arsed about and that's coming from someone who isn't big into horror. I think the one that really jumped out at me was The Menu. I think that'd be a great watch. Anything Robert Eggers would be fun too, although I think the heavy atmosphere of dread would probably be the end of Jen.

Summer

Maybe the next list will be fun halloween movies, I can think of a few now, Garfield, Charlie Brown, Hocus Pocus things like that

TigerMyth

I have to admit shock so many people want Sleepy Hollow. I don't think I have seen it since it came out and didn't love it. Didn't hate it. Just something I never felt the need to watch again and this list has a ton of must watch movies.

Kristen

I’m also shocked, didn’t realize it was such a well liked movie, like at all. I love everyone involved in it and found it very meh.

Kristen

I think the 2017 IT is too much for Jen, maybe start with the 1990? Also she needs to be more afraid of The Decent 😂

Erik D

None of the above gang checking in. Say no to fright month..

Flounder

Please react to JACOB’S LADDER. Based on the Tibetan book of the dead. Plenty of creepiness and jump scares to go around. TIM ROBBIN’S best performance ever. And an ending that will make you cry no matter how many times you watch the movie.

Byrd N. Hand

Unfortunately, while I've only heard it as rumor, Collette may actually be another one of those 'How dare you speak to me' actors when it comes to being around average joes. 🤔

Byrd N. Hand

Frankly, it annoys me when reactors aren't willing to push themselves and always just stay within their comfort zones. Playing it safe only gets you so far. 🤷‍♂️

Byrd N. Hand

Peter Weir directed "The Mosquito Coast," FYI.

Arthur 'Two Sheds' Jackson

The question is: Theatrical or Director's Cut for Army of Darkness?? I personally love the Theatrical cut. Most of the classics lines are absent in the DC.

mikethemotormouth

Right but what I'm saying is there's an escalation that needs to happen. To me, she's still straddling the line of horror novice and horror experienced. She still says she couldn't handle Texas Chainsaw Massacre(1974) which is not even an hour and a half. And now she wants to tackle the 5 hour remake AND she's an admitted coulrophobe? No. Not on my watch.

Amarant Coral

The Descent is my second favorite horror movie. I am a rare "American Cut" defender. The "European Cut" ending is definitely more poetic and well-liked, but I find the outcome of the "American Cut" to be really interesting to think about. I wish I could go into more detail, but this whole community is dependent on no spoilers 🤣 The Descent has a good chance of being watched on the channel one day.

Adam R

+1 for Hocus Pocus! Still one of my favs as a 90s kid.

Stefan Loferer

I think I know what you mean about the alternate cut.👍Have to give it a rewatch some time if I find it somewhere. If ANY version made it here on Jen's channel some day would be really cool.

jon bolton

My votes for here are: It Follows, Jeepers Creepers, Van Helsing, The Faculty, and Grindhouse.

Jen Murray

After looking into it, I'd like to watch the Theatrical because I've heard the ending ties into Ash vs Evil Dead, in case we ever watch that!

Nik

I would watch the TV show "What We Do in the Shadows". It's WAY better

Byrd N. Hand

I still don't think she'll have that much trouble with TCM after watching "The Shining," "The Exorcist," or "The Fly." I feel as though she's letting the title blind her judgment and believing the film is far more terrifying than it actually is. 🤷‍♂️

Byrd N. Hand

Well, I'm still waiting for her to complete the "Godfather" trilogy, the Harry Callahan pentalogy, the "Gremlins" duology, the Middle-Earth saga (i.e. the "Hobbit" trilogy), and the Hannibal Lecter trilogy (screw the POS that is "Hannibal Rising")... 🤷‍♂️ I'd also like to see her do "Incredibles 2," "Inside Out 2," "Monsters University," "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," and "Terminator 3."

Kristin

I actually really like T3.

Byrd N. Hand

Next to "Sweeney Todd," it's Tim Burton's most violent film. Perhaps that has something to do with it. 🤷‍♂️ For me, it's a mid-range Burton film, about on par with the extremely overrated "Ed Wood" (I really don't get why so many people seem to think that's his best film 🤷‍♂️).

Byrd N. Hand

+1 for "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!"

Byrd N. Hand

Just like rock music, I feel that horror movies largely peaked in the '60s, '70s, and '80s. 🤷‍♂️

Kristen

I don’t know if I would consider it his best movie, but I am one of the people that love Ed Wood lol. I am a huge Bela Lugosi fan though and enjoy Ed Wood as well.

Grga Pitic

I'll go with Resident Evil as Jen mentioned on several occations that she's played some videogames.

Clay F

Van Helsing (2004) [RT 24%] is 17th place.

Andrew Hafey

you absolutely have to watch Ash vs Evil Dead....SO AWESOME!!!!!!

mikethemotormouth

If the coulrophobe should want to do the 2nd place winner, FWIW, on the request site, a comparable number would like to see a reaction to the 1990 It(33 vs 38)
