I can’t believe we have 5 episodes left of TNG before it’s over. What a journey it has been and it’s been a pleasure to join you along for the ride Jen 🔥🖖

Is Worf the worst dad in Star Trek? Honestly there aren't many good dads outside of Sisko are there?

William Rosmer

based on the memes, yes yes he is the worst

SirJohnCard

Chief O'Brien tries to be a good dad, but the show writers make it challenging.

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

Another one in the "better than I remember it" column. I enjoyed the heck out of both the episode and your reaction.

Curran Dobbs

This episode has one of the few non-holographic fights Worf fought in TNG where he didn't get his butt kicked. The Worf Effect refers to the team muscle getting their butt kicked to show how much of a threat the bad guys are (similar to Red Shirts getting killed in the original series).

Geoff S.

The time travel device is used way to often in the Star Trek milieu. It seems like its used as a crutch or easy way to write a story a lot of times, but not always.

Vina

There is a clue that K'mtar was Alexander: they have identical head ridges. Also, idk if you noticed, but head ridge patterns are an inherited trait. You can see that Alexander's are very similar to Worf's. Likewise, the Duras sisters Lursa and B'Etor have nearly identical head ridges to each other.

TigerMyth

My brain has zero memory of this one. I think I have probably skipped it. By the time I get this far on a rewatch I am probably skipping the family wrap up episodes.

Kevin Sommerfield

We saw time travel In Star Trek IV The Voyage Home (Save the Whales!).

"What kid doesn't want to play with a bat'leth?" I loved your question, Jen! 🤣 I know when I was a teen watching Trek movies, I really wanted one of those d'k tagh knives. I know Worf gets crap for how bad he is as a father, but he really tries. His son is just too much of a different beast than he is. I'm speaking as a son that has never seen eye to eye with his dad, no matter how much respect we have for each other.

Brian Onderdonk

Dr. Mora Pol from DS9 who we met in "The Alternate"! Such a distinctive voice, I never made the connection years ago, but heard it immediately when I rewatched the episodes in recent succession. I love it when I recognize guest actors in different roles, I missed this one on first viewing.

TigerMyth

Kirk had several brushes with time... I am with you that this one is a bit weak and Worf isn't even super surprised that people can just pop up out of nowhere. And what happened to Older Alexander? Did he have a way to poof back to his time?

Fanchman

Looks like you did a good job in avoiding the guest star credits that spoiled the guest appearance of Quark. Stay vigilant - it may happen again.

Ian

Nice quizzical look in the thumbnail Jen 😀 and you say you're not photogenic what the frig ! Your awesome thumbnails say differently 🔥

Summer

This was better than usual, watching with Jen helps the good parts be better

Summer

Go back years earlier and save your mom! One of the biggest issues with the episode

Goddess of Empathy

To be fair, if he had saved his mom he definitely would never have become a warrior which was his aim. It was the poorly thought out plan of a grieving son. Also... a poorly written episode 🤣

Ronald Dumesnil

I can't wait to see your reactions to the TNG movies and my fingers are crossed hoping that you'll check out Picard too🤞🤞

Kristin

I just hope that she will watch the movies in air date order to keep the TNG and DS9 timelines intact.

Zapp Rowsdower

James Sloyan, the actor who played K'mtar/adult Alexander also played Dr. Mora Pol, the Bajoran scientist who studied Odo. His "lab father", so to speak. He also played a Romulan on a season 3 TNG episode, "The Defector". The one who defects from the Romulan Empire, offering Picard intel, only to learn he was given false info and he was a pawn all along.

Bobby Coolbreeze

Great episode that highlights Worf’s strained relationship with his son and the struggles of fatherhood. As far as time travel, it is regulated and not as common as you think lol.

Bobby Coolbreeze

We will have to let her know ahead of time for future episodes

Bobby Coolbreeze

I have a theory about that but it would spoil another show lol

Bobby Coolbreeze

Romulan Admiral Jerok from the Episode The Defector

Desmond

I think she will, since the airdate order thing she's using has the movies in the right place too.

Ronald Dumesnil

Oh that's right, thanks. Then she just has to pretend to wait twenty yrs and watch Picard 😁

Fanchman

I told her that there would be some this season, but she didn't want me to tell her a specific episode; so I just encouraged her to remain vigilant and avoid reading the guest credits.

Desmond

Yeah, time travel is not that unusual for Trek. They've done it before and they'll do it again.

Alexis Vorian

"I met a man in the Cambra system, he gave me a chance to change the past" wait, what???

Andrew Skow

I haven't received an email notification about a Star Trek post since 9/13. Not for the full lengths or YT edits. Got email notifications for literally everything else. Anyone have this problem?
