Originally, megumi wasn't dooming everyone. Only himself and Haruta. He explained that multiple sorcerers can take part in the taming ritual but if all sorcerers die during it then the shikigami would just disappear. But because Sukuna didn't want Megumi to die, he had to keep the attending sorcerers(megumi and Haruta) alive and take care of Mahoraga himself which in the end did indeed doom everyone. Lol

to answer one of your questiions, the reason some segments of the episode looked different was because they were added after the episode was released. I might be wrong but I remember someone mentioning that the animators were unsatisfied with the amount of animation in the fight, in the blu-ray version and the current one they added several more scenes to the fight to help it flow better and add a bit more action.

This episode was the epitome of sensory overload. That fight is just hard to follow at points. Brilliant ending. Poor Yuji, the trauma keeps piling up.

To clarify, what Megumi said is no one has *subjugated* Mahoraga. As he also explained, while any number of people can participate in the subjugation ritual, it nullifies the ritual at the end if its not just the owner of the technique doing it. So its possible people in the past *have* killed it but no holder of the Ten Shadow's technique has ever successfully beat it alone to subjugate it. Which is why Megumi was planning on using it as a last resort by forcefully making someone else participate in the ritual cause as Silver explains if both the Ten Shadow's holder and the other ritual participants die the creature being subjugated disappears. It's essentially a "Fuck you" button, which is *likely* how it was used in the past to fight the duel against the Gojo clan head in the past with current Gojo's same techniques. The Zenin clan head that fought him forced them both into a subjugation ritual of Mahoraga and it killed them both and vanished.

Also I think I read somewhere that the use of the intro is supposed to basically be Sukuna singing to Itadori. Itadori is "his special" and that's basically what it was supposed to be the whole time. May be a fan theory though but I like it xD

Others have already mentioned the fact that this isn’t even the full fight. Just what they condensed to fit into the episode. Also, just in case you were curious, the estimated casualties for Sakuna vs Mahoraga is over 3000 at the low end And then like the evil bastard he is he willingly switches with Itadori at the end so he can immediately see what he just did with his body. Sakuna is absolutely diabolical and I love it. Only character that comes close to him in evil (in my opinion) is All for One from MHA. Which is also a must watch
