"I only did what I had to do to survive... in a style befitting a French monarch." - Homer Simpson

When Springfield's new concert hall goes bust, Mr. Burns buys the property and turns it into a for-profit prison. Homer fails to get hired as a guard, but finds a much more lucrative path within its walls by becoming a full-time snitch.

I was actually quite familiar with Frank Gehry's work as a preteen due to this episode and an episode of Arthur in which he guest starred as himself (in his furry Arthursona) to help Arthur and the gang rebuild their treehouse. He just happened to be visiting while working on a project and overheard their dilemma, so I promise you it makes more sense in context. I think I prefer his appearance there because it includes him very diplomatically telling Buster, Arthur's not so smart friend, that he cannot in fact build a treehouse out of pizza.

I honestly l never even thought to eat the shrimp tails. Henry is a unique dude and we all love him ❤️

the writing on these episodes is so messy at this point. at least season 18 has some good episodes, such as homerazzi, marge gamer, etc. the ice cream one is fun too even if homer is a massive jerk in it

I took Officer Krackeny as being a parody of Clancy Brown's prison guard character in The Shawshank Redemption. They even wear the same outfit!

Ebiten no Shippo is a shrimp tail that was left behind, uneaten, in a tendon. She felt discarded, so she has a dream of becoming an idol singer to become popular. But shrimp tails are delicious! And fried shrimp heads? With beer?! The best!

Henry, I also eat shrimp tails. When I told my husband he was horrified. I also eat pumpkin seed shells. They taste great but don’t digest well. Oh the secret things we eat.

I was actually driving to see a movie by myself when the discussion of that topic came up. I used to have reservations about doing it, but once you break the seal and realize you'd be missing out on things, it gets easier. Plus, it's not like you're supposed to talk during the movie, so it's not really that social of an activity. I've even started going to concerts solo as well. In case you were wondering, the movie I saw was Rose of Nevada, Mark Jenkin's latest (director of Enys Men) on 35 MM at the Harris Theater in Pittsburgh. I loved it. It's not quite exactly like The Lighthouse, but if you enjoyed that, I can see liking this.

I thought it was kind of awesome that Chief Wiggum caught Smithers cruising for sex in a park and didn't arrest him. Makes Wiggum seem oddly compassionate. I also had a good laugh at Bart learning the same dance as Snowball II. But yeah pretty weak overall, that 'joke' at the end landed with a thud.

Your honor, I have committed the crime of seeing a movie by myself. I went to the only screening my theaters had of The Day the Earth Blew Up. It was an 8pm showing on a Wednesday at a theater that was still hard to get to because Hurricane Helene ravaged the road to get there. I was one of four people in the entire audience, surrounded by guys making quiet idle remarks about the animation and jokes. It was so poorly attended I was scared that the patrons could hear the crunching of my snacks. At least I couldn’t feel too bad about being alone. It was a poorly advertised film clearly sent to the fewest theaters to die quietly. But at least I couldn’t be singled out for seeing it alone. Although I think it was the last film they were showing that day because as soon as I left the employees were hastily closing the theater down; judging me for intruding on their progress as I wait outside for my uber to arrive. Maybe not the best situation but at least I did my cartoon duty by seeing the pig and duck movie on the big screen.

Just had to hop in and say that going to the movies by yourself is good and correct. I remember feeling embarrassed the first time i did it but when I was in college I would sometimes have multiple hour breaks between classes but not have enough time to go home. So I'd pop over to the run down theater near campus and watch a movie before going to my next class. It was a lot of fun.

Due to my background I've been around many shrimp-eaters all my life (especially tempura) and I've never seen anyone eat the tails. I find the idea horrifying (and I'm not talking about tails that were specifically prepared in a way to make them snackable)

I love this episode! I will shout “Snoopy Stationery” whenever I see Peanuts merchandise. I also loved the design of Fat Snowball II/Smokey.

I go to the movies all the time by myself. I don't get skipping a movie because you have no one to go with you.

I never really thought about whether or not to eat the shrimp tails and now I'm confused at where the tail starts and ends for most? If I'm eating shrimp cocktail or preparing shrimp for a dish, I pull the shell off by gripping the "fins" and whatever comes out I eat. Sometimes that includes the little tail ends which remind me of Ren's nerve endings from that very famous bit on The Ren & Stimpy Show. Sometimes a hunk of the tail meat comes off with the shell. When that happens, I don't bother to peel the shell further to get at the insides, but when you get that perfect pull and it's all shell that's left in your hand it's pretty satisfying. Are non-tail eaters just referring to those bits at the end or when eating shrimp cocktail are they just biting the exposed meat and leaving whatever is in the shell behind?

56:35 I misheard this as " they should have used the prison warden from Pokemon". That took me out for a hot second. Lmao
