In the Season 7 episode "Two Bad Neighbors" Homer and Bart are passing out flyers for the rummage sale when they see Apu washing his firebird in the driveway of what is presumably his house. I'm guessing with the hours he put in at the Kwik E Mart he wasn't able to maintain the house and yard as well and moved back to an apartment.

I'm sorry Henry, but given how aviation is one of the industries that emits the largest amount of CO2 in the air, and considered that private jets are the least efficient way to fly - since they carry fewer people than common airplanes - then, in the language of 2019, private jets are #cancelled

I had no idea that Snakes & Ladders originated in India, that's a great fact. I'm also happy to correct a terrible slander about the UK - we have some delicious food, it's just all stolen. You'd struggle to find a town without multiple Indian restaurants, and Indian food has been the UK's most popular take-out since the concept existed, so not having eaten it until 25 is a novelty to me. The UK's own Chicken tikka masala is pretty good, but some Dhansak and a Peshwari Naan is my personal heaven.

I always get this one mixed up with the Sweetest Apu

Damn, that dog pie story. I'm assuming yall edited out Henry vomiting, right?

I'm surprised that Henry hasn't heard of Blue Chew. That stuff's advertised all over wrestling podcasts. It surprises me even more that Bob is the one that brought it up, since I literally only ever hear ads for it on the wrestling ones.

I have a feeling that new jingle is going to be played a lot! In fact, it basically sums up the podcast's entire M.O. ^_^ Great work, guys. Thanks again for the excellent shows. :)

Eve of the Stars

I recall a later Jean-era episode completely sold out Apu's character with a running gag in the background implying that he ditched his family and changed his name to Steve Barnes or something.

My first exposure to Your Song was in Moulin Rouge as a young 2002 teenager, and having never heard it before, I assumed it was an original composition for the movie. That mislead isn't helped by how radically different the arrangement and style of that cover is, nor how hard it would have been to hear Your Song on the regular radio in the early 2000s.

Nick was a great guest and I'd like him back!

Zach Sharrow

Nick's energy, fluency with the Simpsons and the podcast lore, and interesting anecdotes mark him as one of the best guests you've had. Hope he can come back!

ok crazy theory but I bet that Justin Roiland was partially inspired by commercials like Gnip Gnop. Like imagine Roiland shouting "GNIP YOUR GNOPS!" and it sounds exactly like the trans dimensional television ad-libbing he does on Rick and Morty.

I really liked this episode! The redistricting sound drop is still making me laugh.

Homer says that he hates "I Love the Nightlife," but in the episode "Homer's Phobia," he dances very joyfully to it with John. I had hoped that Homer had overcome his homophobia by the end of that episode, but this line makes me think that maybe he says he hates it now because it conjures up the memory of having danced with a gay man.

Excellent new jingle addition to the show! This is still a pretty solid episode, but I didn't really remember it until midway through the second act, and then was like "RIGHT, IT'S THE ELTON JOHN ONE" by the third act, so I was definitely expecting it to be the one where Apu cheats (even though that makes no sense since they haven't had the kids yet).

I love the new jingle so much! But I also wish every guest would stop talking about “oh yes, the show is all downhill now” etc. It’s repetitive, but moreover I feel it’s pretty inaccurate - yes, there are bad episodes, but the show has remained pretty darn funny up to now! And honestly compared to the super sitcom-y episodes in seasons 2 and 3 I kind of prefer the goofy stuff from seasons 10+ even if they don’t all land.

It was Mickey Rooney who played an Asian character in Breakfast At Tiffany's.

I made it 32 years without hearing that hot buttered corn joke. Those were better days. 🤢 🤢 🤮

You guys missed Sideshow Mel's blowjob reference when he said that his girlfriend "refused to delight him with the French Arts".
