You might remember from late last year, when I was sick with COVID, that I published a chapter of a thing written while cognitively compromised. Well, I'm at Inkhaven for the month of April, and have at least some time to stretch out the writing muscles and do some low-stakes writing. (I'm also working on AGARES here, two chapters done of Book 2 so far, while mapping out the future of the serial. I'd like it to be idea dense, and the best way to do that is to make sure that it's structurally packed full of things, and then add more things as I go.)

Anyway, here's the second and third chapter, hosted on AO3 for now. I'm writing this quickly and without much forethought, at least by my standards, and I'm resisting the temptation to sit down for a session of worldbuilding (though, uh, there is already a document). No promises that this will ever have anything more put toward it.

Already my favorite series, I have great expectations for this one!

I like it a lot! It's got a vaguely Reckoners feel to it but grittier, like early Worm.

Very interesting. Very very interesting. Wonder if the demons have decenters or if they are alien enough to all work together.

>Well, I'm at Inkhaven for the month of April Woah, is this what they did with the old rose garden inn? I live like 3 blocks from there and I was wondering what the plan was for that property.

Title checks out. Wonder if that world has X-Men. Think it'd also be funny if it became a recurring gag for side story protagonists to always be named Emily. First chapter didn't particularly do much for me, but I can see it's headed in a few interesting directions with the second and third. Still sorta puzzled about the central conceit of demons taking over despite superhero resistance, but it's probably more allegorical than anything anyway.

Yesssss very happy to see Alexander Wales doing a superhero story, and love mixing it with mad otherworldly demons

I am a fan and would love to see more of it.
