I was just reading about the Xia in Covert Shores book last night and thought it would be cool to get a video.

I wanna hear more about the PLAN … so either Han or Xia … I'll go Xia.

Anything as fierce as an Oscar must be discussed!

When is China planning on selling one of its subs (w/ designs) to, oh say, NK? Perhaps it will send one or more to the Strait to protect China's shipments. Especially if China starts buying oil from Iran. Diesel boats are dangerous for all involved. Maybe Iran needs some? Where you gonna go?

Mark Letcher

I voted Xia to before checking the current list. They don't have to be any good, if they can make them at a rate of 5:1 to their opponents (cost limits). Sailors are not an issue, and I'm pretty sure the PLAN doesn't have a VA. I've heard they make good manned mines. Is that true?

Hi, just recently joined here on Patreon, but a keen fan of the YT videos. My grandfather served in the Polish nave in the 50s any chance you could cover type XV in any of your videos?

Brandon Johnson

I always wondered how an Oscar would slip out of port, shake any tail, penetrate an ASW screen and salvo it’s cruise missiles. Would it be coordinated with Backfire bombers or a solo attack? Could AEGIS and fighters effectively deal with it? What happens afterwards and how does the Oscar escape? What would rearming time be like before that boat could go out again? C’mon Jive those of us who gre up during the Cold War want to know lol

Chronus

Hey Jive, any chance of another storm-stream when hurricane Dorian hits? I enjoyed it last time you did it. Thanks!

Mark Keogh

The thoughts of an Oscar firing from the opposite direction as an incoming Backfire raid must keep carrier group officers awake at night!

Brandon Johnson

Current events have shown how effective even primitive cruise missiles can be vs even modern air defense. Modern cruise missiles massed and coordinated would be tough to beat. This is one part of the cold war we are probably lucky never went hot! I think we would have had some unpleasant surprises.
