Not really a spoiler but I am pretty sure that the Jax back story that he was telling was a reference to Breaking Bad

Reaper Scythe

One of Caine's adventure suggestions at the start was referencing Willy Wonka. I'm assuming the others were movie references, too. The heart kinda rings some bells but I can't place it.

I dont think it was necessarily Jax telling someone they were loved and appreciated and it didnt work...I think it was Ragatha being as upbeat as she projects now, and it not mattering with someone else. Like the lil frog and Kaufmo. And while I adore Ragatha I cant ignore Jax having a LITTLE BIT of a point in that. Constantly acting like things are okay and not letting yourself get angry and bottling up emotions, those arent good for anyone. Pomni puts it a little nicer later, but point still remains. Ragatha has her own issues to overcome too, nobody here is perfect and I really love that about the cast.

Dark Siri

I don't know the second reference, but the third one was to the movie, "A Boy and His Dog."

Stephen Mumford

When Caine's talking about having the "other Intelligent AIs running for a prolonged period of time" would be bad, he's probably referring to all the various NPC characters that populate the various adventurers, and it sounds like, from a programming standpoint, the adventures aren't designed/intended to run constantly. It suggests that if they run too long without a proper reset, something bad happens -- maybe errors start to creep in, or maybe some of them start developing self-awareness (like Gummigoo did in a much shorter time with his advanced AI a few episodes ago).

Jax’s cancer reference was a breaking bad reference. Also- when Jax said “I thought Caine couldn’t—“ I’m wondering if what he was gonna say is “mess with our minds”. Caine made him vegan this episode but in ep 1, he said he couldn’t get their minds. It could support the Ai Jax thing. Just an idea :)

Justin Payne

Love the video! So as far as Jax's backstory during the bar segment, the joke there is he basically recited the synopsis to Breaking Bad. There could be foreshadowing mixed in too for all we know, but at least on surface level that's definitely the reference he was making

Martin E Melcher

The reference Jax was going to say his back story was Breaking Bad. Not a spoiler just a reference they throw in for fun

David Johnson

I keep coming back to Caine commenting Zooble wants "the other AIs" to run longer. Why *other?* Does he think the humans are AIs? *Are* they *actually* just AIs? I mean, the theory is Jax is an AI is common - but what if they are *all* AIs and they just don't know it any more than Gummi-Goo did?

Mr. Waspman

When Jax was telling Zooble that "of course" they were a bartender and a tattoo artist, I think his implication is that those are jobs stereotypically associated with the LGBTQ community. He was being his usual asshole self, making fun of their Sexuality, similar to episode 3 when he said Zooble "turned straight" when they hold their breath.

No way could the former United States conquer New Zealand - odds are it's not even on their maps. But, New Zealand has to pay for the time they allegedly conscripted everyone on the islands over 6' tall to be extras in the Lord of the Rings. Even the women. They put beards on women! They bearded the women! There was a neon sign of a balloon dog behing Jax, and he acts doglike both times he "eats" something this episode, was surprised that he's missing a tail... clearly the show is trying to tell us Jax is a furry with ... issues.

Gab Gab

This is the closest we’ll get to Mosco reacting to an anime

Zefram Mann

The second one seems to be a reference to the video game Contra.

The Baker's Ruview

In the pilot Jax mentioned how he has keys to all the rooms. When he opened Kaufmo's room and he mentioned leaving bugs in Ragatha's room.

Christopher Herrera

I think ragatha ( ragatha may have selfish tendencies) and Jax are trying to use their experience with their past friends abstracting in the present with pomni, Jax doesn’t want to get close and lose anyone and ragatha is trying to make sure that any current friends don’t abstract

JamJarWorks

I read Ragatha's depressed state at the end as a natural result of being a people pleaser and not recognizing toxic positivity. When you put on a facade of optimism to try and be friends with everyone, it's harder to find people that are YOUR friends. You don't have that same intimacy you get with people who've seen you at your most flawed and vulnerable and still accept and love you for who you are. If you don't risk people potentially disliking you so you can be real with them, you're always going to be a little bit distant no matter how hard you try.

ArcticBanana

There's also the more mundane explanation that Caine might just be referring to the NPCs, since if he leaves the adventures open so they can do whichever ones they want whenever they want like Zooble suggested, that would mean the NPC AIs would be running constantly.

David Johnson

Yeah, but then why did he say "the other AIs" rather than just "the AIs?"

Anzac-A1

Jax really feels like a cat. Being a dick to everyone, getting scared by the corn (referencing cats being scared by pickles), his eyes being very cat-like in shape etc.

Rotom

the series is 9 or 10 episodes long! It was originally stated that the series is 9 episodes, but later on Goose said one of the episodes ended up much longer than expected and had to be split. We don't know if this means it was originally 8 and now it's 9, or if it was originally 9 and now it's gonna be 10 due to the split

AceOfSpades

The reference to what Jax said about the lung cancer and the junk chem student was referring to Breaking Bad. It could be some underlying storg to it but thats what Zooble caught on.

WyvernKing99

When Jax was laughing about Zooble being a bartender and a tattoo artist, I think it was a jab at Zooble being nonbinary, as those are jobs stereotypically associated with it. Wouldn't be the first time he's sunk that low, either.

Joey Quixote

What Jax was vexing over in the bar (I think) was that Caine has specifically stated that he cannot tamper with minds. Yet, in this episode, he turns Jax vegan. Speculation has been running rampant that this either means Caine can tamper with minds, or only Jax specifically because he's not a human player. It's an interesting discourse. The blank avatar i believe was spotted as early as Episode 1. Would that imply someone in the game lobby looking in? Or an admin having access to a blank that they could effectively use to check in on what's going on.

BlushAndQueer

Dang Jax looking good in that suit though 0_0

Waistband Hiker

Forget the Jax NPC theory, it’s legitimately one of the stupidest theories out there because it trivializes and trumps any actual nuance and depth to his character

Waistband Hiker

GIRL. YOU’RE LOOKING TOO FAR INTO IT! It’s character focused existential drama and comedy, there’s no major mystery to decipher that’s more important than the character writing

Mia Collup

Saw someone else say Jax is afraid of corn because it’s bad for rabbits? No idea if that has any correlation or if it’s actually true, I’ve never owned a rabbit but yk 🤷‍♀️

Nuk Limpear

Well, Caine and Bubble ARE AIs (as far as we know at least), so it'd make sense he'd say "other".

Nuk Limpear

Well, it's a spoiler for the very first episode, so no harm done, really. Mosco can still watch BrBa unspoiled if she wants to :p

Hulk Lover

This entire episode is just "The girls are fightingggg"

Connie Clemons

I watched this last night with someone I’m interested in and their nickname is corn. We thought it was pretty funny that Jax is afraid of corn. Their favorite character is zooble too.

K

So… Jax is a cat consciousness uploaded to this digital circus to make an AI out of, right? Anyone else?

Vex Valor

I think the reason why Caine doesn't want to keep other worlds open and let the AI go a prolonged time is that they could gain sentience and rise up against and he would struggle for control like how we saw him react to Gummigoo.

FumBigGy Tyden

That reference in the bar is Breaking Bad in case anyone was wondering. Haven't really watched it but I got the reference.

Caitlin

I think it can still be nuanced if he is tho as gummy goo was defiantly self aware. I hope it’s not true but I honestly believe in the theory as theres just so many hints.. like Jax’s head not moving in the bus (similar to only the ai) and Jax being the only character to break the 4th wall. Those I wanted to let slide but then I saw a post about how when ai curse they get beeped out but when humans curse they get cartoon noises. When I went through the episodes to see what Jax’s censor sounded like I realized he is the only character to never curse. And it’s Jax! Plus him realizing he didn’t have a tail mirrored gumming realizing he didn’t have a mom. I kinda hope he isn’t a rouge ai but I don’t know what else they would be hinting at

Caitlin

See for some reason I’m getting the vibe that Jax does want to be friends. I read it as Jax doesn’t want ragatha being friends with pomni and ragatha doesn’t want Jax being friends with pomni. I wonder if the frog was friends with both of them and they blame each other for them abstracting

Caitlin

I feel like I never see people talking about this but does anyone else think Caine definitely represents Caine from the Bible? The company is called C&A (Caine and Able) and gods punishment to Caine was that the earth would be unproductive and unfruitful, which reminds me a lot of the digital circus world where they don’t need to eat or sleep and nothing is really real. Then in this episode the all seeing eye bit in the intermission really convinced me of this because Caine has a blue and green eye and for some reason all the eyes were in this scene were his blue one. I feel like that implies that only that eye is all seeing and that’s similar to the Bible Caine having only one eye after god took the other

Scorrel

My theory is that Caine is malfunctioning and breaching protocols. He claimed in episode 1 that he can't control minds, but he technically altered Raggathas mind with Stupid Sauce and here making Jax vegan. Also, Jax's "file" might be degrading, just like how Kinger's memory is "corrupted" and only accessible when the game has nothing else to load (in darkness). If Jax is an NPC, he could have come from an adventure with a corn farm. He looks unhappy when Raggatha says she's a "farm girl," and if there was nothing but corn in his original world it'd make sense he'd be terrified of being trapped there again and therefore corn. Plus, bunny in overalls with a big smile and lazy eyes? Give him a cotton tail, straw hat, and a corncob pipe poking from his teeth. Boom, an NPC that Ribbit (name given by Gooseworx for the frog players name) may grow affection for and sneak out of the adventure.

TNR_Dragon

32:00 no it's just a reference to breaking bad

Kyasemi

In the context of ep6 I think I know what Jax was thinking about in this moment at 22:40, Ragatha in ep6 said that she was trying to get on Jax’s good side… what if that was AFTER his friend Ribbit(the frog character) had abstracted? She tried to comfort him by being overly optimistic but the wound was too fresh for him and her attempts felt too un-genuine and like she was trying to ‘take advantage of [HIM]’ while he was in a VULNERABLE STATE?!!!!
