Ok I haven't started the reaction yet but I've seen rwby countless times and I genuinely cannot remember what "it's huge" might be referring to in these eps lol. I guess I'll find out

Fred Smith

They spelled out Blake's semblance because people kept thinking she was flash-stepping when she used it and not generating a clone.

Ep 9: I love Oobleck. His reasons for being a Huntsmen are so good, man. It's also just a great scene of taking this comedic character and giving him some depth. Also: “But you hadn’t told us to listen to you yet. So, I didn’t.” “She’s not wrong.” I can’t. Love that Oobleck doesn’t ask Ruby because hers is obvious. She told us back in V1. She wants to help people. She wants to be like the heroes in the books that protected people who couldn’t protect themselves. Oobleck sees that. Ep 10: The conversation between WBY was so needed. Really bringing into focus what their goals were while having them realize that being a Huntress is bigger than that. Also, Blake (aside from Weiss) is actually the member of the team that we’ve seen use her semblance the most. She does it a lot in her trailer, during the Nevermore fight last volume, and during her fight with Torchwick in the V1 finale just to name a few instances. So now we have all four of our girls' semblances. Ruby's speed, Weiss' glyphs, Blake's shadow clones, and Yang's kinetic damage boost.

God I absolutely love this show rwby 4ever seeing people's thoughts on it is always great ☺️,also ruby is so freaking adorable I love her so much, not that I don't love most of the characters ofc.

Rachel Mae

oh I guess it was in reference to the underground section of Mountain Glenn? I love their talk around the campfire (personally I think it's one of the most important scenes of v2) so much and the depth these episodes give to Oobleck. Also a very good episode to keep subtitles on for. Oobleck speaks so fast it can be hard to miss what he says at the end there 😂

So what I love in particular is this first glimpse into exactly what the Grimm are. We get more later but right now we know that they are attracted to negativity and take the forms of animals yet we also know that they are not animals. They disappear into smoke when killed and don't seem to hunt for food. At this point a lot of theories started cropping up and the particular one that I like, that hasn't been necessarily disproven yet, is that Grimm take the form of fears that humans hold. For Beowolves and Ursa it is a fear of predators, Deathstalkers are a fear of scorpions or insects. Nevermore are crows which are considered bad omens and, thus, feared. A lot of the Grimm that you see are in the shape of some type of predator, which makes a lot of sense, but its when you see things that don't necessarily have a natural analog that this theory is strengthened.

In terms of Ruby having Dyslexia, she does not (at least nothing confirmed so headcanon away)

No Elijah this time? Is she in time out for making Hamish twerk? Or does she only want to sit in on episodes with Cinder in them to make sure you behave? Chapter 9: I don't know if Ruby is dyslexic but I defintely feel she is neurospicy in some way. Ruby get's all the best comedic beats. "Get back in the bag..." "Oooh ...let's kill it!" Chapter 10: Ooh, the slow drip of lore. Little crumbs to lead you out of the forest... Child soldiers are taboo in our world, but in Remnant there are literal monsters that could attack at any moment, and it seems that combat training is just part of the curriculum. Just like media literacy and internet safety should be in our world, but instead we get taught to line dance and yo-yo tricks. Remember in the pilot, Ruby says she designed and built Crescent Rose herself.

Isadora

I can't unsee Ironwood with his pants down lol.

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

If Dr Ublek was describing the girls. Weiss would definitely be the longer one....this is why we listen to the soundtracks after each volume...plus the songs are great

Benjamin Sones

Oobleck didn't ask them why they wanted to become Huntresses because HE wanted to know their answers. He asked them because he knew it was something they hadn't yet asked themselves, and he wanted them to think about it (which they did). He didn't ask Ruby because he knew that she already HAD thought about it and already knew her answer.

Terrafan

EXACTLY! So glad to see others understanding this point. I see so many amongst the "critics" who deride this point...without getting ANY of it's context.

DKscribe88

Watership Down has scarred many a person. Both the book and the movie. The Netflix series is a bit watered down (no pun intended) but still good too. Love the book. Sounds like you do too. Have you read The Firebringer or The Sight by David Clement-Davies? Very similar vibes to WD.

Ryan

And that's why you should always keep safe search on when browsing RWBY fan art! ... ... ... I'll see myself out.

Bryan Forquer

Everyone seems to forget that in the previous episode. Ozpin clearly told team RWBY to stay close to their huntsman and do exactly as he says. So Ruby should've listened to Oobleck when he told Ruby to leave her bag behind.

Some points that need to be brought up even if you’ll most likely not read it LOL 1. Zwei is a pretty smart and resourceful dog. He may not have poseable thumbs but there’s no doubt in my mind that he can work his way around a calculator and do the Xiao Longs’ Taxes. He is probably their personal accountant 2. From what was revealed in the White Trailer, we know that Weiss’ main theme is Loneliness even if Hatred is easy to associate with her. She’s got other issues to work out obviously but Loneliness is what’s really eating at her throughout her life. 3. We don’t have a confirmation regarding whether or not Ruby is Dyslexic. We do, however, know that she reads often (almost as often as Blake), and that she was inspired by Yang, who read to Ruby when she was much younger. We also know that both Ruby and Yang have some kind of mechanical prowess since it was revealed in V1 with Ruby’s conversation about weapons with Jaune. She revealed that Signal students were required to forge their own weapons. 4. These episodes is a primary example and one of the earliest examples of CRWBY revealing Yang’s intellect and that she’s no slouch. She was the one that provided some background and on Mountain Glenn (also corrected Ruby aside from Blake). Keep the Yellow Trailer’s quote close to your heart every time you think about Yang because it has so many layers and details. 5. Too early to tell you who Adam is named after. But once you’ve seen Blake’s arc play out, you’ll most likely kick yourself like some of my friends did when they had that “Epiphany” moment.

Lavender Onyxheart

Zwei is absolutely trained, he's a huntsman's dog after all, he even has an activated aura, and probably a semblance if him being compressed into a mailing tube is any indication

In reference to why Oobleck referred to the grim as “creatures”, the grim are also referred to as, and were introduced as, “the creatures of grimm” in episode 1. So the name would suggest that grimm is simply the thing that creates the creatures. However, no one wants to say “creatures of grimm” every time, and just “creatures” is too vague of a name so the vast majority of the time they’re simply referred to as grimm throughout the show, though Oobleck calling them “creatures” is also a correct way to refer to them.

I don't think Weiss meant 'kid' in a condescending way, at least she doesn't anymore. I think is was more 'she's younger and should be protected from the darker parts of the world that we have seen.' Ruby has seen darker things, but she still has a kind of 'childish' wonder at being able to help that kind of makes other want to protect her. "Weiss, it's your... Ruby?" *me in the White Rose camp* Too right! *thumbs up*

Jason S

25:32 My theory here is that Obleck didn't ask the girls those questions because he wanted to know the answer. He asked them so that the girls find the answers for themselves. He didn't ask Ruby, because unlike the rest of them, Ruby already knows what she wants to be.

Vex Valor

I am a big fan of Ruby being dyslexic headcanon. Blake's fairytale is a little harder to tell from the others in the group, but it's pretty clear which one she is if you are very familiar with the fairy tale enough. It's not from the bible.

Phoenix_mercury

Exactly, the questions were just thought exercises to get them thinking

Suplee215

How dare you call Zwei untrained. Pretty sure he has more training than special forces lol.

Suplee215

Even here theres good egidence zwei is trained. He can use a can opener...

Symbolic Remnant

32:24 The thing you say here is very important. He is technically the first man ever on screen in RWBY (Black Trailer). Whether that name means anything, along that line or another line of reason, is a matter for later debates, but I love that you opened that particular door… it will make me sound less crazy at some point

Geass

I'm dyslexic. I frequently put the wrong word in and don't always catch it before I hit post. This has been an issue for me for a while, even before the internet as we know it.

Silverbell_TTV

I actually did read Watership Down once, when I was a kid.

Wilhelm Hedin

I love Oz. I would also love an audio book read by his VA.

Christopher Groenewald

Like Obleck said. "I am a Huntsman because there is nothing else I'd rather be." At this point in the story, this answer applies to Ruby as well and I'm sure Obleck is sharp enough to see that. The other members of the team weren't in it to protect the world from grimm. That was just a bonus, and Obleck wanted them to realise that. They couldn't be huntresses if they didn't understand why they wanted to be huntresses in the first place. Ruby's different. She's a pure of heart spirit that just wants to protect others and make the world a better place and being a huntress is the best way to do that. She's the only one sure that this is where she belongs with no doubt in her mind about her goals in life. This becomes ironic later down the line.
