On the episodes, I would say do the world of remnant and the Ruby short together, and then start Vol 4. It really sets the groundwork for just how Evil Ruby and Yang's Aunt Salem really is and why she hates Ozpin so much, who knew losing a pet show would scar someone so badly

I never noticed the clock imagery under Ozpin until now! That makes SO MUCH SENSE in hindsight. Also, yes, Jaune and Pyrrha were an amazing slow burn romance. Until Pyrrha got burned up.

Don't worry we all were traumatized pretty hard by this volume. Ruby episode one: Pyrrha! (Happy, joyful) Ruby episode twelve: Pyrrha! (despair, sadness) These sneaky writers! And thus, we have finished the prologue of the show. What a way to end it. Also, Ruby whose semblance is speed, was too slow to save the day. The whole reason they had Cardin push Jaune into one of those lockers in V1 was to set up Pyrrha doing the same. Pyrrha, The Invincible Girl based off Achilles, her undoing being shot in the heel. …. And because I’m a horrible person: She was in-Cinder-ated. Get it? Like incinerated? Get it? … like I said, I’m a horrible person. “I don’t know. And I don’t care,” she said caringly, caring very much. The reveal that the Narrator from the first episode is an actual character is so satisfying. Such a fun twist. She's voiced by Jen Taylor, who is most famous for voicing Cortana in Halo. Be sure to watch the V4 Character Short before going into V4 proper.

O wow. You didn't even know who achilles was so thats a even bigger surprise for you. The stories of Achilles that is most famous is his death. His entire body was invincible except for his heel so he died when shot in the heel with an arrow. He also spent time hiding as a girl so he didnt go to war. His mom disguised him as a girl named Pyrhha...

I think they are speaking from a bureaucracy and paperwork perspective, not to mention cost. As an indy project unless you have backing by a big name and a dedicated team of lawyers or just a lawyer who are paid to handle the paperwork... It's probably best to go non-union for the first few projects. I come from the medical industry and we get nightmares about bureaucracy and paperwork, and if we could, we would avoid it at all costs

I dont think thats where her name comes from. It just a similiar spelling. The name means "flame colored" or "red" and was also the name Achilles took when hiding as a girl undercover to avoid the war. The etmolgy doesnt seem connected.

I can't stress how glad I am that Elijah was there for Mosco for the finale. V3 really is the point where we get to the story of the series, and what's at stake. Can't wait to see her reaction to the character short, WoR, and what V4 has to offer! I hope she's doing better now. This was recorded right after ep11 so Mosco has been given more time to recuperate from this. And remember people, don't go spoil for her! No implications or hinting either, we want her blind reactions, not her going in and expecting things because you people had to write something vague!

Yea the term comes from a roman conflict that involved a king named Pyrrhus around 300 bc and the name Pyrrhha is older and associated with Achilles before this. That said seems like both names come from same meaning.

If I remember correctly, you pointed how Pyrrha was the first to fall off the circle at the end of the opening... I don't remeber if Elijah told you out of it or if you did it yourself, but yeah... That was a sign put here just for us clear as day... Just for the creepy lady at the end, she is the same one that start speaking at the first chapter of volume 1, just before Ozpin take the voice over talking about a more honest soul (while the camera stop on Ruby). So about the three first volume, she have the first and last word and is part of the universe as a character, not just a voice off, how cool is this on a writing point ? Huh ? That's so cool and such a great reveal. RWBY still have some reavel at this level to come and I can't wait to see you experience it ^^.

You have so much RWBY ahead and you already know how much Elijah likes it. And to think, that's even with what you recorded on this day. Did not look up the spelling of her name until today. I assumed Pyrrha's name was a reference to (pyro) fire. In retrospect, even Pyrrha Nikos' name was serous foreshadowing. Especially with her Greek bronze age warrior themed character design. Nikos denoting "victory" in the Greek. Look up "Pyrrhic victory" if you had not made the connection, either.

Funnily enough, she's a reference to Achilles' cross-dressing disguise when his mother tried to keep him away from the Trojan War, also named Pyrrha. The Pyrrhus thing is technically coincidental AFAIK, though certainly not contradictory to what happens

Pyrrha returns as a half-Grimm half human under the command of the main villain, Ms. Evilpants. She's Ozpin's ex-girlfriend who's angry he left her for Glynda. The reason she looks like that is because the tried to get breast implants to compete with Glynda and there was a lab accident. Anyway, Grimm Pyrrha and Cinder form Ms. Evilpants' new fashion advisors and help her plan to destroy the world with excessive use of puns.

I like that one of Mosco’s big things is “Never explain the plan! It means the plan will fail!”. Because it meant that she had to give Cinder’s team begrudging props for causing chaos so effectively at the Vytal Festival.

AGH somehow I forget how catastrophic the ending of the Beacon trilogy is every single time. Global communication is taken down, the entire world is drawn into panic and dread which makes Grimm worse worldwide, and all the girls are forced to return to an even unhealthier version of their situation prior to beacon (which was each already bad). They’re all in so much pain and so lonely, and the worst part is that people in this world can’t even let themselves feel too many negative emotions because they’ll attract Grimm.

But anyway, thanks for soldiering through that episode despite all the current life issues. The timing couldn't have been any worse. Hopefully you feel better soon especially since the next episodes will be dealing with the fallout of V3. Not to spoil anything but it does get much better (and worse at the same time) and we're all here for the ride!

Her name is Sapphire, and she is based on Sappho. She is hella gay, and was cursed by the gods to only be able to fall in love with straight women. Her name is Dora Lee, and she is based on Dorothy, from "The Wizard Of Oz". She's also Cinder's stepmother. Her name is Moeder, and she is based on Darth Vader. Pyrrha was shot in the heel with the first arrow. Achilles was the perfect warrior with a flaw that caused his downfall and dies. Losing Pyrrha is always so hard. She is one of my faves as well, but she has death flags since the beginning. I started watching RWBY when only volume 2 existed and theorized she would die because many theorized she was based on Achilles. Theorizing that did not make it any easier. Mosco watching Elijah's react to this episode would be fun because she was in it. lmao

Pyrrha Nikos lost but not forgotten her name meaning Flame colored Victor of the people her battle was a Pyrrhic victory although Becon fell, her actions were key in saving vale and likely most of the protagonists, but the cost was too high. The story is not over and as a mysterious man once said "What's your favorite fairy tale?"

yep... and I know it's not the most comforting thing, but why Pyrrha? because the emotional stakes needed to be high enough for the audience to care as well as for our heroes to know that what they were facing was no joke. that even the best of them could and would fall. I love Pyrrha, and I do hate what happens to her in canon, but I also understand why it did. and like OP said, she had death flags coming. but that feeling of missing Pyrrha is damn near universal for any RWBY fan, so welcome to the club

I wasn't really a Pyrrha fan during the Beacon Arc (Arkos was one those fine ships for me), I like her now way more then before. - I wasn't really into the whole „successful gifted kid" stereotype... But dang this episode still stings even without that emotional connection that most of the FNDM had during V1-3.

it's been like 8 years since i last watched this show, I think i made it some way through Vol 4, maybe 5, i dunno, but i pretty much checked out mentally after Vol 3 because this episode absolutely broke me. I was in high school, & a friend of mine put me on to the show. i told them i was at the end of season 3 just before the last episode, but they thought i FINISHED volume 3 so they accidentally spoiled the ending, so i already knew going in to the episode that the character i LITERALLY just declared to be my favorite was about to be eliminated. I was listening to like tribute music videos & stuff to mentally prepare myself and i don't think i've ever cried that hard about a fictional character, nor will i EVER AGAIN because ever since then, like i said it broke me, so now if someone dies, especially if its a character i like i kinda just laugh, like, i don't even feel the same way anymore

A gifted young prodigy, seemingly out of everyone's league in terms of prowess, burdened with increasingly more pressure to perform well and take on more responsibility. I think similar things may have happened to [REDACTED] but they never got the support and love of a great group of friends. Fly high Pyrrah, you were simply too pure for this world.

With Pyrrha’s passing I had a theory I was entertaining. But one that seemed less and less likely as Volumes piled on without a change on her status. The theory was about a potential way for her to return. It harkens back to Vol. 1 Chp. 3 or 4 where Pyrrha used her Aura to unlock Jaune’s. So I thought MAYBE that intimate connection to Jaune could be a way to bring her back from The Beyond. But since we are supposed to now have a Vol. 10+…maybe? Now I see you already proceeded to Vol. 4 so late advice. But maybe between 4 & 5 give “RWBY Chib” a watch for a palette cleanser.
