The kingdom of Mantle is defunct, the Atlas academy is still very much functioning. They elaborate more on what that means in the future (also Cinder is from Mistral, which is where Haven is)

CrowOfAFeather

Cinder said they were from Haven :) Mantle was the original kingdom before it eventually became Atlas. More on that later! So happy to see you watch these, Elijah really should too! ^^

There is a book I own called 'RWBY Fairy Tales', which tells all of the fairy tales in the show, including 'The Four Maidens' and the ones that Pyrrha mentioned, "The Girl in the Tower", "The Tale of the Two Brothers", and "The Shallow Sea"...and some of those were made into animated shorts called "The Fairy Tales of Remnant"...which I would not recommend watching until you finish chapter 2 of volume 6 for spoiler reasons.

Geass

Rooster Teeth posted a series of 2D shorts featuring different fairy tales from Remnant. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble finding all but the first one. I also got a book from Rooster Teeth about the fairy tales. I wish I had sent a copy to Elijah before she shut down her PO box, but maybe someone else did. I can't keep track of everything she got.

Eric Smith

Chapter 3 of volume 6, isn't it?

Ann_Temki

I love how charming the Four Maidens story is, especially the very storybook animation style and given that it even has a physical copy it really does feel like a real story you’d read to your kid before bed

Evil Queen

I really appreciate how much Mosco and Elijah have gotten into the show. One thing that Mosco does well is pick up on small details and what’s being said throughout the show that correlates. I’m impressed at what she notices as she watches this. Thanks for the reaction! Those shorts are important to understanding the depth of the show honestly.

Flufux

I won't go into specifics here because of spoilers, but an argument could be made for the ending of chapter 2 to be what specifically that short would spoil.

Ryan

They show the moon behind Ruby because she broke the moon during a particular intense game of fetch with Zwei. The moon is actually an egg - it hatched a giant space chicken that can travel through time.

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

The kingdom of Mantle has been replaced by the kingdom of Atlas. Mantle still exists as it's own city though, but is now a part of Atlas. Names mean nothing when it comes to the 4 Maidens. If Winter ever was to become The Winter Maiden and Summer Rose was to become The Summer Maiden it would just be a coinsidence.

BGTitan

Ah, the WORs and their consistently ominous endings. Whatever would we do without those. While the idea of the whole system going down when one goes down may indeed be poetic, Oz, that does not stop it from being a horrible and inconvenient design by Atlas.

Arashi

There was lots of laughter at the idea of Winter being/becoming the Winter Maiden when the Maidens were brought into the series. Most then pointed out that couldn't be right or else Ruby would have been named 'Protagonist' or 'Weapon-Nut'. Lots of "Could Winter be... *gasp* the Winter Maiden?!?! That was hidden so well! Like Alucard actually being Dracula!" No, no... she's actually the Summer Maiden and Ruby's mother with a bad hair dye job following a time travel coin giving her amnesia.

Goliver the weird Druid

The names of people have nothing to do with the maidens power, people are named after colors and things that are connected to colors and art.

Curtis Murphy

I always had the Head Canon that, the system was originally set up to fail if one of the towers went down as an insurance policy. Because it was just after the Great War and trust wouldn't have been very high despite the Treaty. So Atlas gave the world the system but made it in a way that all the towers needed to be working to insure cooperation. BUT, people being people, got used to the way things worked and never bothered to update the system over the decades

Annieme

Not me accidentally watching this in the order it was recorded (v4c1 first, then this. Lol)

Myrtenaster18

Here are the stories: The woman in the tower, Tale of two brothers and The man with two souls

Lt. Waffles

I want to say a lot of things about the map, but they're all spoiler-y so I need to wait at least two more volumes for the lore to catch up.

Lt. Waffles

What interesting titles, aren't they?

Vince

[vibrating] OOOOOOHHHH WERE REALLY IN IT NOW BOIS

CRuhl_Para_TPT911

“The Four Maidens” was endearing with the animation looking like pages taken from a storybook.

Taigan

I’m only up to the star of Vol 5, but I’m betting that by the end of the series, the four main characters will become the new four maidens: Ruby: Autumn Weiss: Winter Blake: Spring Yang: Summer

SauceyRed

After seeing your pfp I read this in Fizz’s voice LMAO

Chibi_Witch888

I'm so late & don't know if it was mentioned at all. But if you enjoy the art style of the four maidens short, then you'll enjoy the rwby fairy tale shorts which are super cute! (mostly)
