Reaction's been up five minutes, I wonder how many people have already been pointing out the Monty reference in the OP once they heard Mosco's going to react to it this time...

Stephen Mumford

Oh, boy. I am commenting here pre-watch, but this has been the singular episode I've been waiting to see Mosco react to, to see if/how quickly she recognized the monster inspiration for this particular Grimm. When I first watched this, I was stunned that they did a deep dive on Scottish mythology/folklore and chose the Nuckelavee!

Dre

RWBY’s version of the Nuckelavee (a Scottish mythological creature btw!) is so tame compared to the usual illustrations of the creature. At least with the Grimm version you don’t see his guts and organs hanging out. 😭😂 Happy Halloween!!! It came early it seems.

milkystross

Its so funny watching you and Elijah both immediately hate Tyrian when I immediately loved him

MtVesuvius

Cinder's redesign was in the opening on the volume, before the intro sequence would have played.

EDHPlayer

The Nuckleeve Grimm! My second favorite of them all (my favorite comes in V6)

PheonixCantra

Speaking of spoiler openings when you get to it avoid Volume 7's until the 4th episode

Vince

Shout out to Jessie Grelle, man, her manic voice work on Tyrian is fucking first class.

Elias Cristerna

Mosco, what is it with your homeland and terrifying mythological horse creatures? First the Kelpie and now the Nuckelavee.

Dre

I can’t remember the channel, but there was one reactor who hated Tyrian initially yet grew to love him by the latest volume. Which tbh. I can see lol. I like the religious fanatic shtick he has for Salem.

Todd Lucas

Klein's inspiration stumped me for the longest time. for a while I swore he was based on Jekyl & Hyde with the eye color and personality changes...but then I finally decided to go to Google University... And discovered his full name is Klein Sieben (German for seven) literally translates into "Small Seven", and he is based on ALL of the seven dwarves from Snow White....personalities and all.

Todd Lucas

And Lord...I have been waiting to see your reaction to the Nuckelavee since you started watching RWBY! Well. Worth, The. Wait!!! :)

Dre

Oh! I think maybe because Qrow is in such a rough state he mistook Jaune for Tai briefly? Because if you remember a few chapters ago Qrow was mumbling to himself because he was reliving a past memory (one where he was talking to Tai about either Summer or Raven not coming back home).

Martin E Melcher

Just as a bit of a non-spoiler aside, there is a slight time discrepancy between Blake's story and everyone elses. Blake's is a few weeks to maybe a month before what happens with the other 3 (mostly to account for travel time)

Fred Smith

Little bit surprised she didn't recognize the Nuckelavee, but I guess a grimmified version of a mythical creature you may or may not have heard stories of would be kind of rough to get from jump. A Grimmified Bigfoot would just look like an Ape.

CheetsAC7

Glad to hear you love RWBY and everything about it. It's set the bar real high for what I like to see in media these days.

CrowOfAFeather

WOOW Mosco, you should feel bad for that joke lmao! xD Honestly, you could've watched the intro after ch5, but better late than never! I'm glad you're taking the steps to avoid getting spoiled :) It's funny that Nora tells Ren to not look, but you can see her smirk a little right before it cuts back to the Grimm; she kinda liked that he checked her out though haha! Glad to hear that you've got much to record so much (and according to your trello you've come quite far already! :D) but I don't see the last WoR episodes, which you can watch now after V4. You can definitely ship Ren and Nora, she's made it no secret that she likes him ^^

Spadeas

I wondererd if you will notice that what Ruby said, was in a way connected to what happened on screen, seeing what you said about Ilia, I guess you did ^^. Also, to make it even more great than the scene already is, even the music play a role here, at th start we hear the song "home", wich say in short that home is where your loved ones are, then when we switch to Weiss, we heard some notes of "this life is mine", wich is a Weiss's song, again we switch to Blake and heard some notes of a song about her ect ect. You said that you love when a show care, this is an exemple of that, both Ruby's monologue, the visual on the screen and the score, act together to deliver the best scene that we can ask. Also side note, when Ruby talk about "monster that we don't know if we can defeat", on the screen is Cinder burning an illusion of Ruby, but wich is the monster, does Ruby is the monster to Cinder or the reverse ? I know RWBY fan love to point that out so maybe other already did, but it's better to tell more than never ^^.

Ann_Temki

Now that you’ve seen the intro it’s ok to reveal that the last line spells out: Move Onward Not There Yet “Monty”

Isadora

The Nuckelavee: "Hi :D" *Mosco.exe has stopped working*

Wilhelm Hedin

I always see Ren as Ace. "Do nothing to the cook".

David Johnson

What I like about RWBY, is that both the good guys *and* the bad guys suffered in the Battle of Beacon. Usually only the good guys suffer damage (so they can come back latter after getting "Even Stronger") in the first big battle, then the bad guys in the final battle. But here, both sides came out with losses and long term injuries.

Vlee

Is Orkey not apart of Scotland, or are you just being more specific rather than generically saying Scottish folklore?

Kadaver

She’s gunna hate when they gotta fight three nuckelavees later and they merge together. RIP

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

The last eye is Qrow...the other eye was Raven, but she decided to be a murderous thief and stopped helping Ozpin

Wil DeYoung

The ending credits song is called "Armed and Ready" It's a very fitting name for a song about Yang.

Evil Queen

Can I just say how much I love that Mosco is giving us so much RWBY content! Ugh this is great 😌 🖤💛🤍❤️ appreciate you Mosco!

Diesel Marcus

Mosco's reaction to Yang's progress in this episode were mine exactly as well. I was freaking ecstatic!!!

EmberPanther

“Take a page out of Adam’s book.” How dare! /j (As a huge Yang fan and a Bumblebee shipper, I approve of this flavor of humor 😂) Ok, “quick” detail/confirmed by creators breakdown: The grim featured in this finale was confirmed to be based on/inspired by the Nucklavee (which is absolute nightmare fuel) and is widely agreed to be one of the scariest grim in the entire show. Also, it is 100% ok to ship Ren and Nora! There is a song from Volume 2 where Nora talks about how she is in love with Ren, doesn’t know when that started because they have been together for so long, and has no idea what to do about it. In fact, there is actually a sweet instrumental version in the background of not only when they are on the airship and cuddle, but also a snippet during their backstory when Ren gives her the hammer. I never thought Ren “looked” after Nora saved him, I always saw it as Nora teasing him a little, especially since her face afterwards was a bit of a smirk. (I also heard the nickname “The Good Heteros for them, which made me chuckle) The ship that both Blake and Yang took on their journeys was confirmed to be named “The Pride”, and the first mate was confirmed to be RWBY’s first officially nonbinary character! Also, no one should blame you for struggling with Yang’s new look, anyone who is even slightly attracted to women would struggle to focus. I have jokingly called it her “Modern Lone Ranger” look, since it is very reminiscent of an updated cowboy aesthetic, and Bumblebee (her bike) is the closest thing to a horse you’ll probably see moving forward. In the background of show, we hear instrumental versions/snippets of certain songs on the soundtrack, and since you haven’t listened to them yet I can give a quick breakdown/summary, since they are all intentional and important to the themes of the show. During the beginning of Ruby’s speech at the end, we hear the song “Home” playing, which is about how whatever happens your home will always be with your family and friends. During this Volume, whenever Ruby does something particularly awesome or impressive, you can hear hints of her theme “Red Like Roses Part I” in the background, and when she and Qrow were working together you can hear both her theme and his (“Bad Luck Charm”) intertwined in the background. During Yang’s scenes in these episodes, we get instrumental versions of her new theme “Armed and Ready” (100% intentional pun, Yang approved), which essentially talks about her journey of healing and her struggles with PTSD, resolving with her essentially saying “I’m back idiots, prepare to die”. There is also another part you may find very interesting where she talks about when she lost her arm: “My eyes are open wide, I’m racing to her side. There’s nothing that I won’t do for her!” Fun extra note, during Yang’s Volume 3 Chapter 5 2v1 against Team FNKI (the rainbow cat Faunus and the trumpet player), the music switches from the more generic background music to a Jazz version of her original theme “I Burn”. During Weiss’ scenes in the finale, we hear an instrumental version of her new theme “This Life is Mine”, which is the song she sung at the concert this Volume, and it is essentially a giant middle finger to her father. It specifically talks about how she wishes she had “saved herself” from his influence earlier, but she is going to live her life to the fullest and how she wants to. Throughout the first 3 Volumes, Weiss’ background music was primarily “Mirror, Mirror Part I”, but as you get toward the end of Volume 2 and in Volume 3, we start getting more of “Mirror, Mirror Part II”, so a nickname some fan have given to “This Life is Mine” is “Mirror, Mirror Part III”. In Blake’s scenes we get the instrumentals of two specific songs. When she is reflecting on the violent White Fang, we hear the song “From Shadows”, which is a song from Volume 1 about the anger and frustration of the Faunus turning into the violent White Fang, specifically a duet between her and (gags) Adam while she was part of that faction. Then when she pulls out the original White Fang flag and when Sun is being supportive, we hear the song “Like Morning Follows Night”, which is a duet between Blake and Sun where we hear Blake singing about her guilt and grief, and Sun singing about how he refuses to let her isolate herself while she is struggling. During the scene with Team JNPR in the hotel with both Jaune’s weapons and Ren’s dagger against the wall we hear the song “Cold” in the background, which is a song from the end of Volume 3, and a tribute to both Monty and Pyrrha. The lyrics specifically talk about struggling to accept and process loss, and how no matter how much it hurts, continuing to live and fight will help keep their memory alive. I am glad that you were able to save the intro until you could avoid spoilers, and for the next Volume my suggestion would actually be to wait to watch the intro (as much as it pains me and others) until the finale. The main reason people are probably freaking out about the intro is because unfortunately some reactors skip it entirely, and that is very tragic because not only is the animation amazing, but the music is top tier.

Mordred pendragon

a small note, ozpin is also partially based on Odin, in Norse mythology Odin has two ravens that are spies for him (the last eye)

Diesel Marcus

47:34 "My name is Lie Ren, you killed my father, prepare to die!"

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

Even if Yang wanted to go see Blake(and after the scene at the end of v3 I doubt she would want to) in the same scene she said she has no idea where Blake ran off to, so she is going to try to find either Ruby or Raven(barf)... I really hate Raven. She is on the same level for me as Weiss' dad.

The Glacial Arcana of Kassandra Vexus

I want to say Salem's comment about the last eye might hint to last chance so like she is telling Tyrian (may have spelled that wrong) that he has no more chances and that he is on his last one, mainly from his reaction as she paired it with saying she is disappointed

RavenFairy

This episode freaks me out too

Eric Smith

*rattle rattle SKREEEEE! (Translation: stop SAYING that!)

Rod

Agreed

KellyBunny

you know, I'm starting to think "I'm fine" might be code for "I am very not fine"

Geass

The Nuckelavee is a creature from Orcadian folklore. I suggest you don't look into it, as Rooster Teeth really toned it down.

Ever Mite

Fun Fact! The Grim is based on the folklore of the Nuckelavee, a monstrous creature from Ornkney! So glad it doesn't live anywhere near me.

Celly

Renora is one of the least fought about ships in RWBY. I'm not sure any ship involving Ren or Nora could ever get traction like this one has. They aren't actually related, Mosco, and I don't think you should feel badly about shipping them. I do! I always have since volume 1! When it comes down to it, only Kali and Ghira are truly shipped by the point you have viewed thus far. In truth, I find Ren and Nora truly have shipped. They have spent a decade together, Mosco, and care for each other likely more than any of the other characters in this cast-heavy show. They belong together and need to be end game. Also, have a closer listen to the music in the bedroom scene while Ruby writes her letter. There are multiple stylized versions of songs that belong to each of the girls. Its one of the most impressive sequences of music I've ever heard. Also, I sent you a picture in Discord I think you might treasure, Mosco. When this came out, a redditor photoshopped The Invincible Girl into the cuddle scene with Nora, Ren, and Jaune. Miles Luna, one of the chief CRWBY writers and the voice of Jaune, cried his eyes out upon discovering it and begged for the identity of the creator. I'm not sure he ever found out who did it ;) As I've said before, I took Pyrhha's death - and the death of the Arkos ship - harder than most. I couldn't finish volume 3 for weeks. My best friend gave me a vial of gold glitter on a chain similar to Pyrhha's chain. I've worn it around my neck pretty much since then.

Taigan

On to Vol.5! There are at least a couple moments that I wish Elijah could be there with Mosco. You know the ones I mean. 😉

Mare

Most Orcadians (Orkney) identify themselves Scottish.

K. Grinn Tighe

The moment between John and Qrow in the second episode, where they didn't speak But shared looks, when Qrow grabs John's hand was man speak for " bring them all home safe, You got this right?"

Austin

Callbacks & Goofs for V4EP11: * Blake saying "My hero." in this episode is a callback to V4EP3 "Of Runaways and Stowaways", when Sun is caught by Blake and says the phrase and later in the same chapter, where he also catches her and asks Blake to say it, though she never did. * Kali crashing through the door while she and Ghira were eavesdropping on Blake and Sun is a callback to V4EP8 "A Much Needed Talk", when Sun was eavesdropping on Blake and Ghira. * Salem asking Cinder if she wasn't the girl who wanted power is a callback to V3EP7 "Beginning of the End", in Cinder's monologue. When Weiss moves in to hug Klein at 09:32, she drops Myrtenaster (Her Weapon). After their conversation, Myrtenaster appears in her hand again at 10:04 even though there is a large distance between Weiss and her blade and she is not seen picking it up. At 7:43, Jacques's desk has a blue placemat centered on it that disappears when Ironwood slams a hole in the desk. Callbacks & Goofs for V4EP12: Starting at 2:46, Crocea Mors (Juane's Sword), goes missing until Juane gets Qrow to safety. Ren is pinned head on against the building despite the fact that he stood on the tree without the building behind him When Ren falls after the Nuckelavee (Monster) releases him, he falls higher from the building than he was pinned. At 7:42 Nora has Magnhild (Her Hammer) on her back. At 7:55 when Ren pulls his dagger from his boot, the sharp side of the blade is outward, facing the same direction as his knuckles, but, in the next scene the blade is pointing inward, the opposite direction as before, with no possible way that he could have turned it. At 8:17 Magnhild is in front of the house Nora and Lie Ren are hiding under despite being flung into a different trajectory and not being seen in any of the shots that show the area behind Ren. It is not visible at 6:48 either. During the brief scene with Cinder, the camera pans completely around the room showing only Emerald and Mercury present, but then immediately cuts to a shot of Salem watching Cinder training. When Ruby is writing her letter, she is using her right hand despite being previously shown to be left-handed (other writing, how she fights) and Monty stating that she and Weiss are left-handed. This was probably an oversight. During the scene with Cinder, a hallucination of Ruby is shown in her Volume 4 attire, even though there is no known mention of Cinder or Emerald having seen her since she wore her original outfit. Oscar's Aunt is listed twice in the credits.

BGTitan

Episode 11: "The last eye is blinded." I have so many thoughts on that line but I'll wait a bit longer before I say anymore on the matter. This is arguably Sun’s best scene in the series for me. While I don’t particularly care for the methods on how we got here, I agree with the sentiment completely. The FNDM would like to introduce you to the Nucklavee. Our latest horror of a Grimm! Have fun! Episode 12: The Nuckelvee is definitely a fun Grimm. Drawing from Scottish mythos (as you probably know) and then animated so twitchy. Crwby are so good at doing horror when they do decide to dip their toes into it. Boop playing again when Renora are on the airship! Someone sedate me they're so precious! Something I think you might of missed is that Yang at the crossroads was her either deciding to go to Ruby or her deciding to go find Raven (Bandits), something she's been trying to do for most of her life. Tai asked her which one she was going after last time we saw them and we never got an answer. Still don't have an answer. And with that, we're finally out of V4. Not a bad Volume but definitely my least favorite of the series. Just a lot of things that personally don't work for me, pacing being a bit off, and the floaty fights at the beginning. But admittedly it was a necessary volume. And it's only up from here!

Alex Welford

Oh yeah, the clicking drove me insane, it just didn’t stop

Ryan

Chapter 11 A wonderful crescendo as three of the girls break free of their symbolic prisons, and then Nikki's here! I wonder if E-lijah is online and giggling as she watches you squirm... Chapter 12 Boss fight! To be fair, given their height difference, I think this is probably one of the first times Ren has looked up at Nora. I love the skip in the music when Ren takes Nora's hand. Almost like it's diegetic... I know Yang's new look is supposed to be more cowboy / biker but I still read the purple sash as knight's garter and nobody can convince me otherwise. Her arm and gauntlet are her shining armor - her bike is her steed. And back in season two her explanation of why she wanted to be a Huntress is a word for word description of a knight errant. --- On to volume five! Say, who did you say your favorite character was? No reason...

Cinder's Apologist

My two cents is that Salem meant her last scout was rendered unusable. Watts and Hazel are busy, Cinder is recuperating, and now Tyrian is out of action for the moment. I'm not a big fan of how Sun ended up following Blake and frankly don't blame her for reacting as she did. But still, what he told her in chapter 11 is exactly what she needed to hear. It's a great moment story-wise. I know that Nuckelavee fight wasn't fun for your ears, but I beg you to look closer at Nora's face after she says "Stop looking!" Because SHE WAS SO SMUG! So don't give Ren too much trouble for that; Nora was just messing with him. Oh speaking of which, by all means jump on the Renora train. It's a great ship and I'm sure you will enjoy what is in store for them. As for Yang... I'm cackling at how you are already struggling with her new outfit. It's definitely a fan favorite and a great design. However, I urge you to go back to the scene on the ship and look closer at the photo of the ship in Yang's hand - specifically, the name of the ship. Trust me ;) Hooray! You made it! I feel like v4 gets undeserved hate because it's such a shift from the Beacon arc, but... that's kind of the point. Team RWBY is scattered to the four winds and they all have their own arcs to work through right now. Fair warning: volume 5 is a bit of a doozy but you are in for a treat!

Cinder's Apologist

yeah it's fair to ask how Emerald would know about Ruby's outfit change, but I just chalk that up to animation simplicity for the sake of not having to try and rig her Beacon outfit in the new engine lol

Luminaxtea

I never realized until now how many leitmotifs play during Ruby's letter monologue at the end of chapter 12. Just goes to show that you can watch RWBY a million times and still find stuff with all the little details packed within.

Phoenix_mercury

Salem was talking about Qrow, him and raven served as Ozpins "eyes" with getting information ect, raven defected years ago and now Salem's been told Qrow is poisoned

Phoenix_mercury

She's already aware of it, was talked about in the discord, also this was assuming she wasn't already familiar with it

Phoenix_mercury

1, you spelled his name right 2, the comment was in regards to Qrow(he and raven served as Informants, aka "eyes", for Oz and raven defected years ago and now qrow is poisoned

Phoenix_mercury

I feel like that one is just because Nora likely has a habit of finding ways to swipe food mid cooking ect lol🤣

Phoenix_mercury

Pretty sure she did n just didn't say it as was chatted about in the server

Phoenix_mercury

Same🤣🤣🤣🤣 my lil chaos gremlin!

RetroBeastto

Amazing reaction and analysis to this series. Before moving on to Volume 5 be sure to watch the Weiss, Blake, and Yang shorts along with any world of Rement Shorts to get some lore and such.

The Glacial Arcana of Kassandra Vexus

I see. yeah I have seen people say it was maybe because he messed up and she was done giving him chances but maybe it could have been both as she did say she was disapointed.

James S

I take the line about the “last eye” as being about Qrow, who acts as a spy/scout for Ozpin. Raven used to be another eye/spy/scout, but since she abandoned the cause, Oz has been without that eye/spy, and Qrow being out of action now means that he’s essentially lost both of his metaphorical eyes.

DKscribe88

Lol, "and I have to take my whole life with me!" I hear ya. I also babysit a dog named Roxy for my sister and it's typically for an average of 10 days, so I gotta take a full suitcase with me. It is nice to have a shorter commute to work during those days though. As for the reaction, loved it and can't wait until you get to V 5. It has grown to be one of my favorite volumes and judging from some of Elijah's reactions, you're gonna love it! I'm so glad she convinced you to watch the show!

Ryan

He did. That's his tragic backstory. He used to be a fashion designer but in his hubris he mocked the gods for wearing socks with sandals and was smote for his blasphemy.

Konrad Dunbar

I see that Blake is to Elijah as Yang is to Mosco lol XD it's totally okay to ship them! a lot of people shipped all of the partners together (weiss x ruby, blake x yang, jaune x pyrrha, ren x nora) simply because they were the ones who made eye contact with each other during the initiation test at beacon, so it's especially fine to ship renora here from the context clues!

Arashi

"The last eye is blinded." Okay, this one is a reference, but it's a bit of a deep dive. Odin had two ravens he used to see the realms. Hugin and Mugin, Qrow gets a lot of jobs/tasks from Ozpin to gather information. Qrow /used/ to work with his sister, who has since departed ways with Oz. Odin (Oz) was down to one raven (Qrow), who is now 'blind'. As for Salem still being disappointed... well, she gave him a task and he failed to complete it. Anything else is an excuse because she Gave Him A Task. Give a warm welcome to Nikki the Nuckelavee. And by warm I mean burn it with all the fire. Nikki gets the 'coveted' position of 'Nopeville express' along with two other Grimm types you get to later. Animation note you were probably... a bit distracted to pick up on. Nikki's jerky animation was done by the animators playing around with the shots (I assume they mean in Maya engine separately) and Kerry liked it enough to reflect it to the whole thing. Yay? Still the music going from a reprise of Boop into Home for the last part with Ruby has never once failed to cause tears. Home is a very slow song, but it just fits them all so much. The 'other letters' are unlikely to have been intercepted. Remember Ruby honestly thought she could walk across the continent in two weeks. Also letters were already 'unreliable'.

Curtis Murphy

Why? I can only think of 1 big spoiler and you don't need to wait until episode 4 to watch it. The first episode as usual

Curtis Murphy

And most of the "spoilers" are just a look at characters that will appear. I'll never understand how getting a glimpse of a character spoils anything. Okay, if you want to wait until Blake's parents appear, fine, but the others I don't get. The villains appear in the first episode before the opening. the rest of the stuff has no context so what's the spoiler?

CRuhl_Para_TPT911

Not sure how the Grimm Nuckelavee (right out of your own folklore) may ultimately dispose of humans/faunus it kills and consumes, but one of Ren’s father’s arrows was found, and it is riddled by weapons that failed to kill it. It’s like they are kept part as trophy’s, part just forgotten annoyances which come loose and fall off to scatter around it’s lair. You wondered before about Kline and his,…peculiar nature. Well, if Weiss’ mythical inspiration is Snow White, where in that tale do we have representations of personalities and attitudes? So, if many members of Remanent’s defenders are taken from “The Wizard of Oz” Qrow is The Scarecrow, Ironwood is The Tin Woodsman, and Professor Leo Lionheart is…? I don’t think Qrow knew about Ozpyn’s abilities, particularly based on his earlier statements and saying the Oz was always wise and knew a whole lot. But Qrow is THE intelligence agent of the group and he has seen a lot. So with no body recovered, but this unknown kid approaching him out of the blue, talking to a voice in his head, knowing about The Cane,…”well guess that means it’s a Wednesday, good to see ya Oz.” I’m caught up with you now at this point in regards to the show. To get control of the White Fang may not necessarily involve killing Adam, much as you may want it, but getting a) the current leader, Sienna Khan, to see reason; and/or b) convince the rank & file White Fang that Adam is a total psycho who doesn’t care who he burns for his “revolution”, including making any member of the Fang an unfortunate martyr for the cause.

Hi-Viz

Tbf you wouldn't have been spoiled on team villain and Cinder since the intro is always after the first episode

John J Ronald

Fun fact, the post credits scene is also a mini cast reunion for Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) with the English voices of Edward Elric (Vic M./Qrow) and Alfonse Elric (Aaron Dismuke/Oscar). Pipsqueak was a common insult that got under Edward's skin, who was very sensitive to comments about his relative height, something they make fun of here, with the roles reversed, given how much taller Qrow is compared to young Oscar. Maxey Whitehead took over the role of Alfonse Elric in FMAB because Aaron's voice had changed; Aaron was a prepubescent boy in 2003 when he recorded for Alfonse in the original FMA. Now he's a grown man but still voicing a 14 year old possessed by the soul of an ancient wizard.

John J Ronald

I've watched the Mini-Boss finale so many times and it took me awhile to realize Nora's hammer placement is wildly inconsistent after the Nuckelavee throws her and breaks her aura. Her hammer goes flying off to the left of the screen away from where her body lands and she doesn't go recover it before tackling Ren and shoving him under the house for cover. Next the Hammer is suddenly folded up and on her back again briefly as she chews Ren out for his recklessness. Lastly, it lying on the ground just in front of the house and she picks it up as they emerge from underneath the house with fresh resolve. A lot happens off camera while the focus is on just those two under the house and it is possible either Ruby or Jaune went and placed the hammer in front of the house during all that, but they seemed to have their hands full fighting the Nuckelavee, and it wouldn't account for how the Hammer was briefly on Nora's back under the house. Obviously these are just uncorrected animation errors and you really don't notice them the first few times through....but if you've rewatched this battle with as many RWBY reactors as I have, you notice them after awhile.

John J Ronald

My theory as to why Cinder/Emerald/Salem know what Ruby's current outfit looks like is the fact that the Grimm see all....whatever the Grimm can see, Salem can see. Salem is a magic user and could have produced an illusion of what Ruby looks like now for both Emerald and Cinder to observe and memorize. It indicates Salem has been tracking RNJR's movements this whole volume.

John J Ronald

The sound design in RWBY is so good; next volume also has excellent musical underbeds like that.

John J Ronald

I think the look exchanged between Qrow and Jaune was basically Qrow "telling" Jaune: "Protect my niece."; and his look back "got it." When this chapter first aired I definitely thought Qrow had quietly died while the combat raged on the town square....was fully expecting that kick in the nuts. Relieved when it didn't happen. The unspoken exchange between Nora and Ren on the airship. He takes her hand and she is startled briefly, looks at him for confirmation, as if to say "for real?"; he blinks back his "yes, really." and only then does she slide up next to him and put her head on his shoulder as his (now confirmed) girlfriend.

John J Ronald

Sidebar, the Ruby x Jaune ship is called Lancaster and I think it's a cute one. Jaune makes Ruby feel comfortable, and he can make her laugh. If the world wasn't going to hell in a handbasket I think Ruby would potentially date Jaune. I like how they support each other...his words of encouragement mirror Ruby's encouragement she gave to Jaune back in Volume 1.

Wilhelm Hedin

Doesn't he have an eye in the well of the fates too? To be all-seeing?

Christopher Groenewald

This applies to Weiss and Yang as well. Ruby's journey to Haven in V4 lasts almost a year, almost as long as V1-V3 combined. V5 lasts just a few weeks. Almost all of Blake's story from both V4 and 5 happen before Ruby reaches Haven at the end of V4. Weiss's entire story from V4 and 5 happen while Ruby is at Haven and Yang reaches the "Just Rite" gas station a few days before the battle of Haven at the end of V4.
