LET'S GO VOLUME 6!

ELS_Art

Hey it’s uploaded again. 🤭

Dre

AND WE’LL CATCH THE DREAM TOGETHER SOMEDAY SOON WE’RE RISING LIKE THE MOOOOOOOON

Sarah Stephens

Argus Limited was shown in theaters and i managed to see it. As far as i know that was the last time they did a theater premiere for a rwby season.

Ryan

Adam Short: You and Elijah had the exact same reaction to Adam's face non-reveal. "It's time a got what I deserved..." Chapter 1: We are on a train, "toot, toot!" ... Doing a dynamic fight scene on top of a moving train as the season opener is a flex. I hope they did the animation on a static train, and the background and snow in layers. Otherwise the layout and animation would have been twice as hard as it needed to be, and depending on how fast the train is going, they could get float point precision errors in longer shots. Lionheart dying in defense of the school is the "official" report. Propaganda! Yes, we are getting a beach episode. Don't worry, all the characters (except Ruby and Oscar) are over 18 now, so you can look respectfully. And you'll be at Elijah's when you react to it. So she'll be there, giggling as you get flustered. Good call not watching the intro - it contains shots from the beach episode. ... It appears we are no longer on a train!

ELS_Art

The giant set of armor was a Grimm it was a Poltergeist like the one in the opening of Volume 4 that RRNJ fought in the woods.

Robert Hunter

In regards to Adam's face reveal, not to tell when it will happen. That's all I can disclose at this time.

Magikltrevr

Adam at the beginning of the short, "It's time we got what we deserved." Adam at the end, "It's time I got what I deserved."

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

We see Ruby use the ability she used here with Weiss in volume 4 when she used it with Nora fighting the Geist Grimm

Albedo12

The mystical beast in question is a Manticore - body of a lion, face of a man, tail of a scorpion and (sometimes) the wings of an eagle.

Lindsay

Honestly after the next two episodes you can watch the intro. Most of it is them on this train and the rest of it doesn't spoil anything except for what we find out in the next two episodes. It just shows characters we know and assume will be in this volume. It also deliberately gives you a hidden character that you are supposed to be guessing about if they will be in this season or not. They wanted you to watch the intro before the season for this one in particular they were very intentional with what they gave away. DO NOT watch the intro for seven right away though!! It will spoil so much visually

TheCasualNerd

So a bit of clarification on Weiss summoning since it isnt spoilers 1) it is only grimm, remember that ghost thing possesing the rocks they fought back in v4? The suit of armor was one of those. And 2) its not just any grimm or necessarily based on final hits. Its grimm she's defeated that forced her to grow. So just one-shotting some weak grimm wouldn't cut it, nor would the rest of the team doing most pf the work on something strong and letting Weiss stroll in to finish it off. She has to earn it through a tough battle

Zirkumflex

What else is Ozpin hiding? Probably way too much, like the time he had a messy divorce.

Timothy Emeigh

With the Adam Short, clearly that is back when Ghira was still leader. That puts it at latest when Blake was 12. While there is unavoidably that nasty element of Adam and Blake's relationship (in that he was likely some degree of an adult at that time and knew Blake, which evolved into some degree of a relationship before she ever turned 18), I don't imagine it had quite yet started, given Ghira was disgusted by Adam for anything other than the violence. And I imagine an older-teen to young-adult making moves on his 12 y/o daughter wouldn't have gone over well.

Magikltrevr

As much as I love Volume 6, the intro is incredibly spoiler heavy. I agree with not watching it.

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

Sun was 100% pursuing Blake as a love interest. I think the writers were sick of the fandom bickering over something so trivial as ships when it came to them and her and Yang, so they just said let's forget about them so we can get going. Blake is the one who heard a choir playing when he first appeared and winked at her. Of anything she went from I like this guy to mesh, but again. He was totally head over heals for her until this episode.

Symbolic Remnant

Ah! Ah! Blake kissed him! Blacksun confirmed! *Meme of bronze medalist going wild popping champagne on the podium*

Timothy Emeigh

In regards to Leo Lionheart) As you picked up, there was that sign on the bar back in V5 when Qrow was looking for huntsmen. Mistral isn't particularly kind to Faunus. As you also pointed out, the official story is making the Faunus Militia out to be the heroes (they were, sure, but explicitly mentioning it and making the huntsmen to just be "helping" is a strategic move to boost the Faunus perception). In a culture with no shortage of bigots, that would be undermined by making the truth of Leo come out as true. We know it wasn't because he was a Faunus, but a racist could easily see what he did and spin it into a "Look at the cowardly Faunus! Give them a ounce of power and they'll abuse it! It is all lies, deception! You can trust them!"

Geass

For the Adam short, it is worth noting that he didn't kill anyone until situations demanded it. When they were attacked in the woods, he used non-lethal blows against their assailants until that last guy tried to kill Ghira, which forced Adam to use a ranged attack to save him. It was a decision made in a split second. While I don't blame him for that, it was the start of his slide down a slippery slope. There is a reason why Batman doesn't kill people, it becomes easier to justify killing more later. It didn't help that Sienna reinforced his actions. The short shows he got worse over time. Even his mask changed, starting pure white and getting more red as he went along. Keep in mind that Blake mentioned he wasn't always the monster we knew him as, he slowly changed over time.

BGTitan

Yeah it's amazing how the animation and fight choreography can improve when you don't have someone siphoning the animation money into their own pet project. I still say V4's fights were worse (that Sea Grimm fight still haunts me) but that was when they really were super new to using Maya and had to build the show from the ground up in the new engine. So I give them slack because it couldn't have been easy. V5's fights started to improve but the ones in Haven's lobby were... definitely not their finest work. I still think Blake vs Ilia fight and the Maiden fight were great. Especially the camera angles in the Blake vs Ilia fight. Some fun camera movements there. Special shout out to Yang beating the bandits. That was also fun. And yeah, I wouldn't watch the V6 intro until episode 9. By then there's nothing you wouldn't have already seen. V6 Character Short: Seeing Adam and Blake while they were still together and him gaslighting the hell out of her makes me want to deck this dude in the face. "I just get scared when it feels like you don't believe in me." Ugh, I hate him. But CRWBY heard our cries and gave us an entire fight scene with Sienna. What a baddie. Speaking of, I like seeing the subtle difference between Adam and Sienna here. You can see that, while she’s okay with using necessary violence, she’s not killing the guards. She’s mainly just knocking them out. And we saw from the robots earlier how easy it would be for her to do so. Adam on the other hand... Ep 1: UGH it is so good to see the girls all together again! Ruby used her semblance with Nora back in the first episode of V4. It became that red and pink twisting blob thing. I do like the added detail of the rose petals having touches of white because of Weiss though. The bunk bed set up makes me wanna cry!!! AHHH!

Rachel Mae

oooh yea time for my second fav rwby volume! When I started watching rwby it was during the hiatus between 6 and 7 and I remember getting to the end of 6 being like WHAT DO YOU MEAN THATS IT (my friend who got me into the series neglected to tell me it wasn't completed and I knew nothing of Rooster Teeth lol)

PheonixCantra

I felt that way after every volume.

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

The giant suit of armor was a Geist Grimm in the suit, so the show made a huge mistake in having her summon the Geist Grimm in the suit. It makes no sense, so we just go with it and try to forget about the how.

Zero Blazer Gaming

Weiss can summon any Grimm in the state of witch it was in when she defeated it. The armor was possessed by the same type of Grimm that Team RNJR took down at the start of Vol 4. The one that the team used as payment for Jaune's armor and weapon upgrades.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

He explicitly states he's doing it as a friend.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

No it won't. No intro is "Spoilers", it's all stuff you're meant to know from the beginning.

Albedo12

Mosco reacting to RWBY: I will avoid everything that is not the actual show, including the titles, as I consider it spoilers. Mosco reacting to Hazbin: I will once again, without warning, be talking about a character by name that has not appeared or been referenced in the show yet, but *I* know about.

Migli

i mean we've never had any reason to think she wouldn't be able to summon a geist in whatever form it had possessed when she defeated it i don't see how that's a huge mistake at all

CrowOfAFeather

I understand why people pick on V5, but it wasn't like the fightscenes were less than stellar by choice. "Good to see you can fight again. I'm sorry, I have to!" And I will remind again that their budget was tampered with and the crew did the best they could and still delivered a character-driven volume that had a lot of positive despite what people like to claim. It was NOT by choice. Back then we got a new volume each year, so CRWBY were still new with using the Maya engine, PLUS having their budget steadily becoming smaller. "Alright, the fighting is already looking a lot better. This gives me hope-" Aaand again...^ Really didn't mean to come off as negative here, but I really gonna have to bring this up every time. I love V5 for what it brings to the table and CRWBY for what they managed to do with what they had. We've seen Ruby use her Semblance on others before; she did it with Nora in V4 against the Geist Grimm. Sooo since this isn't explicitly stated n the show, I'll just drop it; the suit of armour Weiss summons is a Geist Grimm that had possessed said armour. She fought it as a test by her father to see if she could go to Beacon instead of Atlas academy, because her dad is a dick. You got it right the first time, the big Grimm is indeed called Sphinx.

Migli

i wouldn't say he was head over heels for her until now if anything that ship sunk after v4 and that point on he was just trying to be a good friend to blake

Albedo12

AS a casual viewer, I think it's enough that we saw her kill it in the White trailer.

Moonas

Winter said summon let u bring enemy on your side - read - if u kill it u can summon it. That's it. She killed Knight in her trailer, board in school and queen on the ship.

Moonas

Summon let Weiss summon anything she killed. She killed Knight in her trailer, board in school and queen on the ship.

DKscribe88

I assumed the giant suit of armor was possessed by a geist grimm, like those rocks at the beginning of volume four. If that is the case, Weiss could summon anything a geist possesses.

Ryan

Poor Glinda doesn't know she's the rebound...

Suplee215

Adam went from violent but got a point Revolutionary to cult leader at some point. And im not completely convinced that toxic personality wasnt there to begin with. From what we see, Sienna had a better handle on how much violence is too much and what is required. There always was a part of adam that wanted to destroy and take what's his. And validating that type of behavior can encourage the worse behavior he showed in the show. Becuase its already proven that he knows what's best for the faunus. The fact that his idea was picked over the belladonnas prove it in his mind so clearly. Ghira was wrong in how passive he was too but I think theres a clear middle ground and thats more ornless what Sienna stood for. Fight and maybe kill the first guy and then give the other members a chance to surrender once initial show of force was shown. Of course its risky, but its a lot easier to make peace by that stage. The current plan Ghira has should honestly be the blue print though. The faunus were sent awah tk be out of the kingdoms hair and not a part of anything important. It is real easy for the discrimination to stay the same with that. The faunus need a seat at the table. World events effect them justbas much as anyone else and saving Haven went a long way to making that happen

Suplee215

While Jaune is new to having his semblence, theres a reason his tutor was teaching him how to use his aura and stuff. He got the basics of how to access it once it showed itself down I think. I dont think thats the end of his power and he can still grow kt, but it might appear less drastic of a change than Ren's. The semblence just getting more powerful and having more range seems common.

Kitsune Kokoro

It's not just "anything she's killed", otherwise she'd be able to summon random Beowolves and such too. It's enemies that have really pushed her. Significant foes. Meaningful fights.

Lindsay

Okay sure but she doesn't like to see things in the intro before they happen in the show. My comment was to her and her preferences.

CrowOfAFeather

It was a fleeting teenage crush during Beacon at best that never blossomed into anything deeper. Sun liked Blake far more than she liked him, sure, but it was never anything serious. Afterwards he follows her because he's her friend, and he didn't help her out just to earn brownie points or win her heart. The feelings died after V3.

BGTitan

See, that's not quite right. The Boarbatusk didn't push Weiss. It wasn't significant and yet she summoned it. Winter summoned a Beowolf and a whole flock of baby Nevermores. It doesn't have to be a significant Grimm. Weiss just likes to summon the knight (Arma Gigas).

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

OMG...that is now. This is why they did this. This fandom is full of insane shippers who have such tunnel vision

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

I never liked Adam as a character, but I gotta respect the short for how it presents him starting as an extremist with good press and sliding further and further into evil and ruthlessness . Also that song, "Lionized", does a great job of getting in his headspace. And I get such a kick out of Blake's Bizexual Background(TM) at 9:50 :-D

EmberPanther

It is a bit amusing to me that Mosco has now discovered Bees Schnees. I will take it.

LucidDreamWolf88

I could be wrong but I think sun and blake was platonic mostly

Sam

The suit of Armor Weiss summons actually Is a Grimm, its one of those Geist Grimm (The ghost like ones Ruby fought in the beginning of Volume 4 that makes a body by possessing objects) Which was possessing one of the suits of armor in the Schnee Manor

Geass

I never considered the possibility of Weiss summoning Cinder if she killed her before. The armor was possessed by a geist, but most of its body was something other than a grimm, yet she can still summon all of it. Cinder is now part grimm, so I can't rule it out.

Cali Jester

Mosco down the Poly RWBY hole.

BakaSama

NGL, every time Mosco starts talking about Weiss x Yang, I keep expecting Elijah to pop up out of nowhere and shipping wars to commence. Next week’s RWBY reaction is going to be a blast to watch and I cannot wait.

Arashi

Adam Short Rather amusing you did the same thing Elijah did in the Adam short when he arrived. There's also the fact that since they threw away Sienna in the show, they made the Adam short to make more use of her model. Which isn't as helpful as they may have thought, since it just shows us /more/ of what we could have had. Argus Limited: Recall that Ozpin had said that Semblances are not static and can evolve. This would be an example of that. In a way, it's only Weiss and Ruby who really have abilities we can 'see' being refined. Beacon was destroyed, not Vale, though Vale was certainly damaged. Although why there's a train station terminal for Vale when Mistral is a whole other continent is not something they wanted asked. (That's a loooooonnngggg train ride. Under the ocean too, how very scenic!) :p While I get the 'fuck Leo', recall there's only so much they /can/ say. Either they say he was 'working with the terrorists' which would harm faunus in Mistral and counter 'the attack was halted by Ghira and the faunus militia' or they say he died defending his school. It's not like the whole world knows about Salem after all. Weiss' knight armor was a large suit possessed by a Grimm. Same style as we saw in the first chapter of Volume 4. Same one she fought in her teaser trailer before volume 1. Also, just getting the 'killing blow' isn't the trigger. Winter said "Recall your foes, the ones who pushed you from who you were into who you are'. While flowery, it probably means Grimm fights that are difficult or 'notable'. This fight isn't really something she's going to recall except for the ending crash. There does seem to be some degree of training with Semblances, but this is 2 weeks later and Jaune did know the 'path' to get it going. In world lore, he probably spend most of the 2 weeks working on that. Meta-wise, it's a case of 'we have it, we're gunna use it'. :p For the Opening. I would say that it's 'safe' after chapter 6, definitely after chapter 8.

Arashi

I would say we don't know /why/ Winter saw a fight with a Beowolf as notable. Could be a fight at the tail of of a long series and she was low/out of aura thus in actual danger from a Beowolf. Maybe someone else was or the fight was notable due to a 'mistake' made. Sure, there's the usual 'you learn something from every fight', but summons may be a case of you learned something that changes your views. The Boarbatusk Weiss beat due to Ruby, thus was notable because of Ruby allowing her to kill the Grimm. What you fought may not be as significant as why you fought.

Luna

Fun fact, the suit was actually the kind of Grimm from volume 4 chapter 1

CB Jones

I'd point out that this isn't the point that Adam stops doing what's best for the White Fang, he never was, it's that this is the point he can no longer hide that. Sienna pointed out (before he murdered her) that his actions in volume 3 only made things worse for the WF and the faunus as a whole. His sole appearance in Vol2 is to reassure Cinder that even though she just got a bunch of his people killed that he'll make sure they keep following her orders. Adam wants power and to hurt anyone he feels has wronged him, as Blake said, he's the embodiment of spite. For a faunus with a gift for violence the White Fang was a place he could get both. The continuous thread in the Adam Short is that he's only ever doing what he wants whether that's killing humans or gaslighting Blake, and that at first the things he wanted aligned with what Sienna and others in the WF wanted enough for him to be rewarded and promoted. And once they stopped aligning rather than questioning that Adam just kept doing whatever he wanted to regardless of who he had to tread on. He put himself in charge of something he never really understood, because he never cared to actually empathise with other faunus, and couldn't understand why it all crashed down around him.

Cinder's Apologist

I like to imagine the Adam short happened to give us more time to see Sienna after how she got whacked in v5. sure, it is helpful seeing that rise to power - and to be reminded of how he is just a spiteful little bitch. don't forget what Blake said: Adam was not interested in equality, only vengeance for "what the world did to him"... in other words, to make humanity suffer and nothing more. and he hijacked the movement to suit his whims. ahhh yes, it is always good to see the girls back together, even if Blake and Yang need a little time >.> I love how both you and Elijah assumed Ilia was going for the kiss there. valid! also the "Wrong tree" always gets me; smooth way to confirm Ilia is indeed only for the girls ;D so the funny thing about Sun and Blake is that one of the showrunners, Miles Luna, later went on record stating that he regrets how they played along with the 'tension' between them because it led to a lot of people thinking Blake and Sun would become a romantic thing. but as you can see, that was never really in the cards - and it's good! unfortunately, some folks just didn't like that, but I say that's the comphet lens not being removed. as has been said by others, Semblances are like muscles: you have to keep working at it. once you have it, you can use it but you gotta keep working with it to stay in top shape - or to evolve. Semblances do change and grow, depending on the person. you're already seeing this a little with Ruby (she also did that trick with Nora at the beginning of v4 btw) and with how Weiss is now summoning things. oh and that suit of armor was a Geist - the Arma Gigas as it's known; the Geist is a ghostlike Grimm that inhabits other things, like the suit of armor in the White Trailer or the giant boulders in v4. you are in for such a treat this volume... and not just because the animation keeps getting better and better. there's a LOT of lore to come, and you are likely not prepared for how hard it's going to smack you upside the head.

Cinder's Apologist

I love them all. Bees Schnees, Freezerburn, Bumbleby... just throw the ladies at Yang and I'm happy!

Cinder's Apologist

agreed. no love lost for Adam; I can't even get into the "he had a cool fighting style" cuz like. that's literally what RWBY is about?? EVERYONE HAS A COOL FIGHTING STYLE. so to speak. but yeah, just an extremist who was able to ride a wave of popularity into seizing control of the movement

Vex Valor

I really love that RWBY does do friendships between female and male characters. Sun went with Blake to help her and never expected or tried to make it romantic. The friendships are valued before the possibility of romance with all of our focal heroes and I appreciate that.

Raiku Yuri

Weiss getting the final blow isn't the requirement for her to summon it sadly. back in season 3 Winter mentioned you needed to look back to enemies that made you push yourself. Weiss's two summons are the Armor Gigas that she had to defeat as a test to go to Beacon and the Queen Lancer that she had to solo fight; both of which were challenging opponents that made Weiss push herself.

Jyoster

Mhmm. The other Summon being the Boarbatusk, and that one was her accepting the role she's been given and pushing to become a better teammates for Ruby.

SportySpice

I think Sun probably had some romantic intentions in early V4, but they are gone pretty quickly when he realizes Blake needed a friend. He was still trying to be Blake’s “hero” in V4 and they butt heads all season, but Sun very much accepts his role as “sidekick” in V5 and his character works so much better once he settles there. And they felt pretty definitively platonic when Blake talked about how she wanted to help Ilia the same way Sun helped her — that she viewed his presence as “not giving up on a friend”. It was such a specific framing from the writers. Im glad they went that way. Blake learns to let people in before she goes back to her team to finish healing. V6E1 proving immediately that it wasn’t a lack of ability when it comes to new era RWBY fights — I wish some logic/inference would have kicked in for you to get curious about the context for V5’s fight choreo shortcomings (like, we all know they were not trying to disappoint their fans and clearly they have the ability and demonstrated it in V4 and early V5, so logic says something must have shifted to cause such drop in quality). But in any event, hopefully you’ve got that out of your system and can just enjoy the V6 fights without the digs. I know you’ve seen a few ahead, but it’s funny you mention Bees Shnees considering they have one of my favorite moments soon (when Blake and Yang tease Weiss about ransoming her for a ticket to Atlas). They may not be back to normal yet, but they do fall right into ragebaiting Weiss.

Phoenix_mercury

yeah also letting leo be remembered as the person he was vs the person he became, due to a force the world knows nothing about

morthasa

I'd say that making out Lionheart as having died a hero is not so much for his sake as it is to avoid admitting "Yeah, one of the headmasters in charge of our system was a traitor and we never noticed! Tehepero (๑>؂<๑) !"

Arcanity

To publicly denounce Lionheart they’d have to fabricate a new story as 90% of the context is a secret. The only known bad guys are the White Fang and I don’t think there’s a way to to tie your only Faunus Headmaster’s betrayal to an extremist group trying to blow up a school without it becoming wildly inflammatory.

Wilhelm Hedin

I don't remember all of my greek myth but is it a mantichore?

Wilhelm Hedin

Always looking forward to these reactions! Keep checking in in hope of an episode even tho I know it's not out yet...

Hollyhock

Mosco said she liked Bees Schnees though, i think she gets the bumblevision

Konrad Dunbar

this is one of my all time favorite volumes, definitely top 3! Yeah back in volume 4 we saw ruby carry nora, but this time with Weiss it changed the colors of the petals (white rose fans screaming in the distance)! I wish Ilia had gone with them a little bit tbh, it would have been interesting to see her interact with weiss and witness whatever is going on with Yang and Blake!

Stephen Mumford

Pretty sure that's the inspiration for them, yeah. Scorpion-tailed flying lion creature fits the bill pretty well.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

Adam's manipulation of Blake in his short is so creepy, especially when there was a large part of the FNDM that didn't quite get it at first. Weiss doesn't have to be the one to deliver the finishing blow on the Grimm, it just has to have "driven her to push herself beyond her limits". And yes, it is Grimm-specific. The suit of armor was a Geist, the possessing Grimm from Volume 4. Right on the money! The big Grimm is actually called a Sphinx. The smaller ones are Manticores.

Erinyes

This "don't watch the intro stuff" is absolutely crazy to me. It's not like trailers where they were created by the marketing department and might show parts of the show that the creators wouldn't want spoiled. They're literally created by the same people that did the show and are purposefully showing you things that they want you to see prior to seeing everything except the first episode. By not watching them when you're supposed to, you're completely taking the impact of the opening out. Volume 6 in particular has several shots in the opening that just will not have any impact unless you see them prior to knowing what they're about.

Dragonrune

It was mentioned that the summons' the Schnees do are from past enemies that they defeated. Not just those that pushed them.

Angelus Lupus

I love how both Elijah and Mosco were on the same wavelength with the "Wrong tree" moment!

Eric Smith

Trying to avoid spoilers, but Weiss killing the Grimm personally is definitely NOT a requirement (just can't give the example yet)

CheetsAC7

Talking from a writing perspective, Blake and Sun (romantically as end game) just doesn't largely make sense from as early as Volume 2. As characters and personalities they are fine together, but narratively Sun is always placed in positions that push him farther away from Blake. He should have been there with Adam in V3. He should have talked to her in V2 regarding the dance. There needed to be more scenes with the two of them building up that relationship. Missing these scenes with her, especially in the early stages, tells me Sun is as they intended from the beginning; a boyhood crush that changed into friendship for Sun. So I do agree that Sun has feelings for Blake, and Blake was likely open to the idea but was focused on her own pursuits first. I do want to call out making claims like "the writing changed because of xyz". Please don't disrespect creators like that. Opinions are fine to have, but please don't perpetuate falsehoods that hurt creators like this, especially when you aren't proving it. We all remember how toxic the fandom was on both sides, but there isn't anything suggesting they rewrote the characters because of it. We already know through very early creative stuff from the VAs that her relationships were known very early on, but being kept under wraps.

CB Jones

Miles not expecting veiwers to get that invested in them being romantic does higlight how Sun and Blake make such an interesting case study for how audiences interperet relationships in media. Even looking at the Beacon dance, held up at the time as a clear sign they were going to end up together, the entire sequence barely involving Sun in any meaningful way. Sun asks Blake to the dance and gets shot down, then he just disappears from the plot. It's RWY that initially try to help her and then Yang who empathises and opens herself up to Blake to finally convince her. Sun only shows up again at the end after the character arc has been resolved and is told she's only "technically" going with him, but her first dance is spoken for. I feel like on close inspection it's barely romantic at all, but with such a prevalant trend in media of "any male & female pairing who share more than 2 lines of dialogue are destined for oneanother" (something that in all fairness RWBY kind of does with JNPR as well) large parts of the audience seem to take the little moments of them being on screen together as confirmation of something more.

Kadaver

I think Weiss can only summon foes that have no soul, so no humans. Grimm and animated armor only.

LikeCat

Those are both Grimm... The Arma Gigus (the armor) is a Geist Grimm

Vince

Adam and Vox have a lot in common. Just because they’re not *wrong* doesn’t mean they’re justified.

SQX Barto

Ruby tried to carry Penny in volume 1 or 2, but it wasn't totally "semblance-involved."

SQX Barto

I think the next two episodes should be paired up. (But probably Elijah has already told you that.) CRWBY, in the past, didn't want a beach episode because the girls were underage, especially Ruby. (In anime, beach episodes are mostly an excuse for fanservice, which is not really RWBY's style)

John Hannon

If I had a nickel for every time Blake was there when train cars uncoupled I'd have 3 nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird.

Vic Walker

Well, I know it's not a thing you could know without searching it up or someone else telling you... But the armor from Weiss trailer that she can summon, is a Grimm. That ghostly one that can possess things, you saw one being defeated by team RNJR starting Volume 4. In Schenee's house there are multiple big armors like that, it resemble a bit Weiss grandfather's. Remember Winter training Weiss before she got permission to study in Beacon? Well, fighting that Grimm in the trailer was exactly her final test, she could only leave Atlas if she could defeat it.

Vic Walker

And terrifying too. If one headmaster betrayed his own kingdom, what can guarantee it's safe to trust the rest? It would benefit Salem's plans A LOT, placing doubts between humanity and faunus around Remnant.

Keji89

That grimm is known as a "Geist" (eng phonetic Guy-st):, which is German for both ghost and spirit. im ,ost JRPG's movig armor monsters are said to be haunted or possessed. So the Geist possessing the armor makes total sense.

Concerning the grimm attacking the train, the smaller ones are called Manticores. In fantasy genre a Manticore is usally depicted as having a lions head and mane, with bull horns, huge bat wings on it's back and a scorpion tail. The bigger one commanding the manticores is a sort of chimera, though apparently it is more of a Sphinx, at least that is the grimm's offical name. A Sphinx usually has A Human/catlike face, with a cat/lions body. It has feathery wings on it's back like an eagle's. Although in RWBY's version they decided to remove the normal lion's tail and decided to add a touch of a traditional chimera, hence why they gave the Sphinx a snake head as a tail. A traditional chimera would have entailed a second head of a goat/ram minus the wings (although some chimera variations have wings). And yes both creatures can, sometimes, breath fire.

The way I interpret the Adam short at the end, dropping his mask symbolizes his persona dropping - showing his true self now. Adam does have good reasons for how he feels about humanity and what he and the Faunus have been through. But how far do you go until your good reasons become only an excuse? Yeah, he was angry and spiteful over what happened, but none of that ever excused what he did to Blake, wanting to kill all her loves ones, and more. Now that he's lost even the support of the White Fang, his true self is showing. He's spiraling further down.

You'd follow Adam when he turned a peaceful protest movement into a terrorist organisation??? He and the other White Fang members were murdering people. That's not the right way to fight for your rights. That would be like trans people murdering JK Rowling and other transphobes to fight for our rights but all that would do is make them hate us more and want to take away our rights more.

I think she means that she agreed with Sienna when Adam was working for her, not Adam himself. You're right that violence isn't the answer but Ghira's methods were also far from perfect. I don't think it's fair to say either idea is wrong or right. Sienna was being violent, but for about as good a cause you can get while also clearly not wanting to go too far since she didn't let Adam kill the guard for no reason. Obviously Ghira's peaceful approach seems better but the show itself says it wasn't getting results fast enough and it's difficult to argue that an oppressed group needs to be patient with its oppressors (especially since we hear about how terribly faunus are treated + many would be killed before any change, an this is assuming that almost all the people treating faunus terribly would even stop). Both options suck but it's not like any oppressed group has a choice but to pick, and both are understandable in their own unfortunate ways.

That song in the last fight, iirc, became my favorite when I first heard it, and to this day it's still somewhere in my top 10, such a banger!

And it's worth mentioning that it's not about Weiss dealing the final blow on the Grimm, it's about fighting and ending a Grimm that has pushed her to her limits, as explained by Winter in Volume 3 "think back to the enemies that challenged you to push yourself, the enemies that created the person you are now."

Ruby did the carrying other people thing at the start of volume 4, she combined with Nora to attack the giant Grimm in the forest
