I watched this show and honestly i forgot about that twist. Honestly great episode, i think it feels a bit... older than some other episodes because i feel like perception of pranks kinda changed. And i feel like this one tries way harder to have "modern" dialogue. But yeah, i forgot if in episode like that they managed to have some nuance. I feel like other show like that would just go with "we do a prank on somobody who doesn't enjoy it and we need to apologize" but here Pinkie is already aware of where the line is. Also i forgot about this little element of Twilight not trusting Pinkie. I like it, shows that Twilight is still pretty new to this friendship stuff, and she got a mini arc in episode not really about her One thing that i think is worth mentioning: among differences beetwen this show and some other show covered on the channel/patreon this one was very much made to sell toys. Or rather, this franchise was always about selling toys, some versions just did it in a way that wasn't too painful. But there is still a lot of moments where one can play "are elements of this episode just a toy commercial?"

Don't have much to say about the main point of the episode. But the early comments about spike seems interesting. His fire clearly has magical properties and instant teleportation of objects to anywhere seems powerful. Dragons in myth and lore are usually the epitome of physical and magical strength one step below gods. However the strength is individual never groups. One on one dragons can fight anything. Maybe Celestia plans to raise spike in pony traditions of friendship and harmony gaining an incredibly powerful asset over the long term.

Fun fact: Rainbow Dash is by far the most shipped character in this show, having people who ship her with pretty much the whole cast...which lead to a lot of jokes about her having been shipped with "everything but the kitchen sink"...which of course led someone to write a fanfic where Rainbow Dash fell in love with a literal kitchen sink...it was weird.

So, general consensus is yeah, Gilda is totally acting like a jealous ex-girlfriend who wants RD back in her life. However, I don't think she is actually her ex, but just because RD is too oblivious and socially unaware to realize that Gilda feels that way about her. Speaking of Gilda, we have Griffon's! Easily the second most popular race for fan OC's after Ponies. As to the lesson, I really respect the show having the moral that "Sometimes, people are just toxic AF and you are better off cutting them loose if they won't knock it off." Glad you are already embracing the madness that is The Pink One! Waiting a week per ep is going to be so tough, but eager for more!

Funny you mention Kelpie Pinkie Pie when Pinkie and Fluttershy's voice actor, Andrea Libman, and Tara Strong did the voices for the Kelpies in that DuckTales episode. :-p Pinkie Pie has been described by the creators of the show as "the Missing Loony Tune" given her rubbery, bouncy antics. Each character in this show has a lot of hidden depths that will be revealed as the show goes on. Nine seasons is a lot of time to develop everyone. The glitching is still happening. Seems like it's about every five minutes or so things just freeze for a few seconds. And it's in the same spots since going back or reloading the video doesn't change where it stops.

The "character zooms away, pursuer just amiably hops along in their wake, yet is ALWAYS there when the character turns around" is a straight-up Looney Tunes bit. I can't identify the exact LT short it was in because I can't even remember which characters were in it, but the gag definitely originated there.

I'm so glad you paused to look at Pinkie's hiccups! You've started noticing that Pinkie Pie does these wild Looney Tunes-style reactions and gags (like Pinkie's animation during the hiccups or having a random flying machine). At one point, the showrunners said that that's by design! The animators were instructed to use those types of gags sparingly with the rest of the cast (like Twilight's reaction to the hot sauce in Ep. 1), but Pinkie Pie has access to the full spectrum of cartoon hijinx!

22:05 is such a bonding moment for the Brony community - most of us wanted to like Gilda because of the cool design, and then she revealed her true colors. Just wait until Season 4, when she leads a Griffonian army to destroy the ponies - it's epic. Super sad how Dash dies in Twilight's hoofs! Still, it was epic to see Fluttershy compel the Griffons to surrender by unleashing her true chaos powers.

It’s subtle, but there’s a reason no one gets mad at Pinkie’s pranks. Half of them get thrown back on her, or are little more than minor jumpscares that cause no damage. Case in point: Spike- down for the prank and Pinkie also ends up with hiccups. Rarity- a few sneezes that will go away when she cleans off her nose, plus Pinkie Pie gets powder on her nose. Also, free flowers once she shakes the powder out. Twilight- slightly more trouble since she was doing a science experiment and the ink went away, but since no one got hurt and she smirked, she can at least understand the logical humor behind it. Applejack- jumpscare because she probably wondered if apple blight had hit the orchard, but laughed when she figured out it was paint. One good rainstorm from Rainbow and it’ll be like it never happened. Fluttershy- only minor confusion about the fake turtle because they didn’t squirt her with water. Rainbow Dash- also a prankster, can understand the hilarity. Gilda, on the other hand, caused an old lady to panic, insulted the vegetable cart, snatched an apple that was probably grown at Sweet Apple Acres which cuts into Applejack’s livelihood, and yelled at sweet Fluttershy when she was walking backwards while Gilda could have just moved out of the way or flown away since she had tons of time to see and react. Rainbow’s pranks are a little more mean, if you care to assign an adjective like that, but the buzzers only cause temporary shock, lemon drops I wouldn’t defend because contaminated candy can cause chaos, the dribble cup doesn’t run all over a person just the floor, relighting birthday candles kind of defy logic so it would be a cool sight more than an annoyance, and the pin the tail game, well that was just a slip on the cake. Overall, if I was gonna be pranked, I’d prefer Pinkie Pie. Gilda wasn’t even pranking, she was just rude

I commented this on another episode, but speaking as someone with AUDHD, Pinkie definitely at least has traits of ADHD—I say traits due to the controversy of fully diagnosing fictional characters. I think I saw a YouTube video once assigning the Mane 6 diagnoses.
