Trixie, my beloved. I really like her design too, even if she's so annoying. NOTE, because I can't help myself: Common Head Canon, she's our trans rep, among other things, she has an animation error that makes her have 1 eye shine (Like almost every Stallion) instead of 2 eye shines (Like EVERY other mare).

To be completely fair to Trixie: boasting is part of a stage magician's job. Especially in a land of magical ponies, she has to *sell* her act; you wouldn't want to go to a magician who's going "Yeah, I'm kinda decent, I guess? I mean, it's a better way to kill an afternoon than watching paint dry", would you? Unless it's very clearly part of their act (self-deprication, like how Bo Burnham does it), or that just really tickles your fancy, then no, you probably wouldn't. Now, once the audience starts heckling her and she takes it WAY too personally, picking fights with them? And her *keeping* that persona, even off-stage? THAT'S why it's a problem.

The first time I watched this episode, I was certain for the first part it was going to turn out Trixie wasn’t really a unicorn; that all her magic was just stage magic. That got disproved pretty fast but because we didn’t see her horn for a while I was thinking.

Can you punch a Pony? Yes, there are many, many Ponies who deserve a good punch. Just, never do that to Fluttershy and your good. Even the rest of the Mane 6 could use... if not a punch to the face, at least a slap to the back of the head now and then. Oh Boast Busters... and the arrival of the Grrrreat and Powerful TRRRRRIXIE! Yeah Trixie became a huge fan favorite, in a very "I would punch her if I ever had to deal with her personally, but love seeing others have to deal with her" way. Though some just legit love her and her over the topness. (Side note, if you see any official merch of her, it will likely call her "Trixie Lulamoon" that isn't her actual name in show, that's just something they had to do for trademark reason as 'Trixie' was too generic a name to trademark on it's own.) We also get Snips and Snails (As in the nursery rhyme "Snips and snails and puppy dog tails are what little boys are made of") and, they did not go over so well. Not a lot of people happy that this is the first real male pony rep we got. But, well, things can always get better. Also, the mane 6 get a lot of flack in the fandom for 'heckling' Trixie when, no.. they really weren't. Yeah, they weren't impressed with her, but they were just talking quietly among themselves, not interrupting the show.... untill RD had to cover up for getting called out on her own ego. But other then RD the rest really were not messing with Trixie at all till she started going all "I am better then all you pathetic, small town hicks!" Which is where the defense of Trixie just putting on a show, and it all being an act loses it's cover as there is a difference between "I am amazing!" and "I am better then you!" On the magic front... I would just say take all the talk about how they talked about how magic works with a grain of salt, as while not wholly wrong, it is very much a case of early installment weirdness where they hadn't fully nailed down how things work, and so it's not exactly right either for how things shape out. But overall yeah, a fun ep that introduced a very popular, both in the love to hate, and just plain love camps, character, gave us a look at just how freaking OP Twilight "Element of Magic" Sparkle can be, and showed us just how freaking terrifying the fauna of Equestria can be. (Fun note, if you look at the Ursas closely, you can see patterns shaped like their namesake constellations inside of them.)

Don't worry Mosco, you can punch a pony (so long as it's not Fluttershy). And Trixie is a super punchable pony. The main defence I have seen of her is that she is a traveling performer and it's part of her act. Which is kind of a fair take. There are plenty of low-level standup comedian who use a very similar act. Doesn't make her any more bareble, but in any other town in Equestia her Usra Major story would have just been taken as a traveling performer's tall tale. In Ponyville however, a town right next to area Usra Majors live in, two idiots decided to go find one. ... Only in Ponyville people. Only in Ponyville.

Just to touch on Mosco's initial RWBY comment. I think it's a perfect example of the concept that, you can have the most flashy, modern, cartoony or realistic animation for your show...but it's nothing without a story. Same with games for me. If the story isn't there, then I don't care how good it looks. RWBY succeeded with cheap initial animation because the story was there from day 1. And it was so good people didn't care about the animation quality at the time. They wanted the story, because that's what matters.

Yep boasting but to be fair, her talent seems to be performing magic shows. Whereas twilight seems to have gotten some kind of user cheat code for all magic. Also I don't know the age of criminal responsibility in Equestria but those two morons almost got a whole town massacred if mama ursa had actually turned up.

I'm glad you're enjoying the show so much. Yeah this was the second episode to highlight the Everfree Forest as a dangerous place in Equestria. Apparently Lauren Faust origionally envisioned it to be an ever encroaching and looming threat to the citizens of Ponyville. Now whether that was the case as the show went on is spoilers I won't get into, but as you can see from this episode it is a place seen as unusually "wild" compared to the other tamed parts of the country for unknown reasons.

I am terrible at commenting so Im super behind but I am I just have to say I'm so excited MLP won the poll! I actually renewed Patreon for this (and to get into the RWBY stuff, I am so happy you and Elijah have been enjoying it, it is my favorite show). Its funny cause I was actually just thinking about restarting it, admititly I have only seen the first two seasons but they are great! I was defentitly one of those people that thought it was just a silly show and gave my brother shit cause hes was a brony but he put it on one day and I got absolutly sucked into it with the first two episodes. It is a fun easy watch and Im excited to get to see what you think of it!!

See, I have 3 categories of characters with egos—there’s characters like Trixie who have a big ego but are frauds, then, there’s characters like Papyrus from Undertale who are boastful but in a loveable and almost pathetic way, and finally, there’s characters who have a big ego but do have some merit behind their ego like Tony Stark who is a genius billionaire superhero. I must admit I do love some of the characters in the second and third categories. Not to get multi fandom on a MLP reaction, but I’m not sure if there are other MLP ponies that represent the other two categories. Maybe RD for the third category?
