Damn you're quick! Already on season 3! 😂

Rather jarring contrast to see Mosco gush about this show (which I agree with, mind) after listening to [other YT reactor] take a massive dump on it all through her Knights of Guinevre reaction. Different takeaways, I guess.

Nik(goggledogs)

I love how the first thing on everyone’s mind is to roast Mosco on the season number

Lando

I’m actually so Sus of the baker. I can’t say fully why yet as a later episode got me thinking but yeah

Jared Bichler

The question is: was she really kidnapped, or was this a recruitment? How to better to vanish? Become Faceless.

Jared Bichler

Red alert! Red alert! (Pulls out knives) NO WITNESSES!!!!

Jared Bichler

You can tell Daemin's going to be the Sokka of the group.

Jared Bichler

Could the Faceless be planning to go to another Haven? They just stocked up on food and mounts.

Jared Bichler

Maybe the Faceless want to inspire rebellion in Ellora by depriving the people of food.

BakaSama

I think I know exactly who you mean. I’m genuinely curious if she’s actually watched the shows or just going by the trailer. I personally find the art style different, but it suits the setting.

BakaSama

Glad to know I’m not the only one who got that vibe.

Robert Morgan

I assumed that Pavi's leg was stone with her saying that she made it herself.

jessie H

Between him and Pavi I think. Poor Jae is the Katara, and Nisha is Toph

Catradora fan

Yes there was a spirit called Koh the Face Stealer in Avatar, you are correct 😁

Catradora fan

To quote Bow's dads refering to the Faceless: "WHO ARE YOU?!" 😅🤭

Oh for sure. That "you know I'm always looking out for you benders" line felt loaded. Uki's family talks about what a disgrace being a Brigade deserter would bring to the family. We also hear how exhausted she is from the Brigade, and Uki had been to the shop. So maybe one day, Agam hears her complaining about being overworked and approaches her to leave and join the Faceless, and to help her save Face (haha get it?), Uki gets "kidnapped".

Vex Valor

Nisha is pronounced the same way you pronounce fish. I am interested in what they are doing with the bandits. They seem like deserters and there must be a lot of them out there to need that much grain.

Couldn't say. It might be something as banal as personal taste and the new story direction (Avatar as a fugitive, rather than a hero with a clear goal) rubbing them the wrong way. I know that the new setting in Korra rubbed me the wrong way hugely for a number of reasons (mainly correlated to societal and technological advances) I intentionally obscured the name because I didn't want to risk coming across as either naming & shaming or as trying to start beef in the comments over something ultimately futile.

Since you asked, a quick grammar/ terminology lesson, which might also be relevant to some of your other series. Prosthetic/ Prosthesis is an umbrella term for any device meant to replace the structure OR function of something missing from the body. While most people think of this as just replacement limbs, it includes dental implants, glass eyes and artificial joints. You can keep using this term through any upgrades/ substitutions, even if she uses bending to make a leg of water/ clay, or gets a Guinevere-style robotic option. Technically, the object is a prosthesis (plural prostheses) and prosthetic is the adjective, but if you're not a medical professional nobody really cares if you use "prosthetic/ prosthetics" as the noun. It is much easier for most people to say and remember "prosthetic" than "prosthesis", and it is not rude or offensive to shorten in this way. It's also a great plural term for if you or your audience don't know the names for each different type of prosthetic, or if you wanted to discuss more than one type as a group. "Mobility aid" is a different overlapping category for literally anything used to help someone move. Crutches, walkers, canes, artificial legs, wheelchairs, service animals, etc. The difference is a prosthetic must replace a missing part, while mobility aids can be additive. In this case, Pavi's leg is both a mobiity aid and a prosthetic. For the sake of completeness, artificial limb is a smaller more specific category that only applies to replacements/ supplements to arms and legs. None of these terms are any more or less affirming on their face, so you can freely use whichever one is easier for your brain, as Pavi's device sits at the middle of this oddly-shaped Venn diagram. For anyone curious, as a point of etiquette, all of these categories should be treated as a part of someone's body. A good general rule is if you do not have the familiarity to touch someone's inner thigh or remove their clothing without asking, you shouldn't be touching any of these devices either, even if you think you're helping. On top of being rude, unexpected movement/ contact can be startling and result in injury for someone with compromised balance, and some devices can be easily damaged by untrained folks. (Sadly, those are usally the most expensive devices.)

Julio Castillo

I think the term you were looking for was "Peg Leg", which is the old-fashioned way of describing a simple wooden leg.

7:20 So I'm disabled person who's done activism work in the past and currently works in healthcare. Typically we'd call it a prosthetic limb/prosthetic [body part]. Artificial limb can work but typically brings about imagery of more high end/unaffordable technology for most disabled people (think Yang's arm vs. Pavi's new leg in terms of tech level). Technically it's a mobility aid, but we don't typically use that term when referring to something that's physically attached to us outside of certain circumstances. For example, I know a woman with a prosthetic leg and she'd call it a prosthetic 98% of the time. The other 2% is normally mobility aid but in the context of talking about mobility aids in general (for example, we'd had a conversation about the importance of shock absorbers in mobility aids that impact the ground, like my crutches and her prosthetic).
