Arisa is the first outside character introduced after the triumphant return on the first day of classes.

—“And what about the other girl?”—“A-another girl? What do you mean?”—“You know, the second late notice that arrived at the school. Imamura Midori.”—“Oh… who?”—“…”

Without further interruptions, let us continue.

STORY

On one fateful night, amid the cold of the gloom and the thunderous crackle of distant lightning, a small basket was abandoned at the foot of the threshold of a humble family farm, far removed from all civilization.

Mr. Daichi, a 45-year-old man, quickly called for his brother Daiki to accompany him to the entrance, shotgun and rosary in hand. Nothing good could come from a doorbell ringing beneath the darkness of a collapsing sky.

Fearful, yet determined to defend his family and livelihood, Daichi slowly opened the front door. To his surprise, before him lay a small creature, lightly stained with blood and rain. The creature was crying, but she was warmly wrapped, and her stomach was full.

With a clear look of concern, the brothers stared at each other for a few seconds and then went out in search of the ruffian who had left the little one in such a vulnerable situation.

There was no success. It was almost as if the wrongdoer had vanished into thin air.

Daichi was the first to extend his arms and lift the baby. Beautiful. With naturally ashen-colored hair.

Around her, a velvety little blanket clung to its tiny owner.

The baby's body was completely dry and warm, despite the roaring, icy downpour that covered the wasteland. She cried from fear, from sadness, not from hunger.

Puzzled, the brothers carefully examined the basket.

A note…

On it, a name with a legible surname could be read: “Arisa Absentis,” entwined with a beautiful pendant bearing a small gem that, like its owner, was soaked in vital fluid and rainwater… or so they believed.

The only drops running down the baby's face and over the necklace left as her relic were, in fact, blood, mixed with… salt water…? Yes. Tears.

Misaki is the surname of her adoptive father. They never managed to decipher young Arisa's true surname. But that was not a bad thing.

Few memories of her mother drift in the deepest recesses of her mind. One of them is an incomplete lullaby, sung to a mythological princess with feline features and a grayish hue.

She was too small to remember it fully, but it was there, lingering.

Arisa grew up with the insecurity of early abandonment. Perhaps her life had not truly mattered to her mother. Why had she been abandoned?

But if that were the case, why are fragments of her mother burned into her, not in her mind, but in her heart?

To this day, that inner conflict continues to wreak havoc on her mind… And if the mind is in conflict, the body falls ill as well.

This was the voice of humility and innocence: Mamaki Mamakusa. I mean, Arisa.

As a fun fact, did you know that from the very first event in which the character is introduced, when Shunnaru says “Mamaki Mamakusa” as a joke about Arisa's name, it was actually a play on words with the lost surname?By simply removing the first four letters and reversing the order: “Mamakusa Mamaki”.

Kusaki Arisa.

No hubo éxito.

Kusaki Arisa.
