Another touchstone Nutnfancy Life Philosophy video! This is long form life content for my TNP friends. We'll talk about 10 proven ways that you can repair, improve the relationship with your Father and in the end earn his respect.

Why is this important? Because all sons seek to have the respect of the Dad. They want his approval.  But younger generations confuse the love vs respect aspect of the Father and Son relationship.  Love is given and he does love you.  But you have EARN his respect and in most cases when a boy reaches manhood, it's not a given. To get it, you'll to embark upon a sojourn of self discovery, hard work, failures, and in the end successes. But that process will make you happy and give you peace.

Some fathers are dysfunctional and flawed. They've cause emotional and maybe even physical injury to their families. We talk about his and I give you insights to my own addiction and sometimes violence ridden family. Been there, done that. But most Dads are good and they just want the best for their children. You'll find gaining his respect means you have proven yourself to be your own man, responsible, reliable, and hard working. This puts your Dad's mind at ease by you having proven you can make it on your own.

Among the 10 Steps I talk about here you find my (and my Dad's!) Life Philosophies echoing again. But you have some surprises too.  Some if applied, can heal the possibly broken relationship with your Father, bring healing, understanding, peace, and respect.  You'll see lots of comments below through the years supporting this.

Delivered to this troubled world in February 2021 in the hopes it will improve lives, mend families, and make better Dad's and Husbands in the future!

Kelly McClellan

I love your philosophy videos. I started watching when I was 14 and I feel they have really helped me along life’s path. Keep em coming!

The Nutnfancy Project

THank you Kelly. I talk about you young TNPrs in this video! And lo and behold, here you are! Thanks buddy.

David Gaines

Love these philosophy videos. They have been a great addition to my Christian faith on what it means to be a good husband and father. Can’t wait to give this a listen. A lot of the TNP philosophy videos have truly impacted how I am as a father, changing both how I am as a man and a leader of this family but also how I interact and train my children. Really looking forward to this. PS: I think of you story about Jade often as I love and care for my two girls. I aspire to have a relation with my son much like the ones you have with your boys.

James Mabe

Haven't watched yet started watching nutnfancy when my wife had my first born/third son up to 5 boys 4 with us. We had a miscarriage as well. Haha to the point where you're talking about earning respect has a son. I literally had this argument with my oldest I said you think we're equals but you have to ask me how long to heat something up in the microwave. Another point I constantly remind them when they're not fulfilling their full potential High School can be literally the easiest thing you will ever do in life! (For them)

Tacticaldoodle

It blows me away how undervalued and derided fatherhood is as a concept in modern culture. So much societal rot can be traced directly to its root at the lack of a dad in the kids' life, but it's an inconvenient fact that's easier to ignore and try to buy off.

Parker Jones

Thank you Nutn! This video couldn't have come at a better time for me!

Todd Strelka

I love this! I just finished watching this video before midnight after finishing up chores and getting the kids to bed. There are many things that are insightful to help me be a better dad while teaching them how they can be productive in society. I see a bright future for my kids if they make good choices. My wife and I are always sharing life's lessons with them such as discussing with our daughter recently how much it costs to live with expenses like a mortgage, utilities, food, insurance, healthcare, etc. She was shocked at how expensive it is. We love our kids and want them to be successful. It's neat to see their traits, talents, hobbies, and personalities develop as they get older. In just a few years, they'll all be adults. Thanks for another great life philosophy video, Nutn.

Hold Fast Joe

Will enjoy listening to this tomorrow! I love that mark 2 savage in the background. Years ago when that dropped about 6 months later I saw one on the rack and snagged it on sale under a hundred bucks. It's had many thousands of rounds sent through it! Great purchase! I never corked it though but I like having the option if one day I want too. The mark 2 is a wonderful trainer! I got my appleseed rifleman patch on the first weekend with it. Since then I've requalified with it a bunch of times. Very happy with it

TC Carstens

Gonna need some sound dampening lol

This topic hits close to home for me since my father passed away when I was 13 (my "Gene's" name was "Sonny") and this has been the philosophy I've tried to instill into my son and daughter and I just pray it sticks. Thanks for reinforcing and spreading the word Colonel sir.

The Nutnfancy Project

Amen my son! The undermining of masculinity and fatherhood is key to the destruction of our society and where we find ourselves.

The Nutnfancy Project

Very humbled to hear that Parker, it's delivered from the heart. I pray it serves you and all TNPrs well.

The Nutnfancy Project

Great gun! Indeed that is a Savage Mk II FV-SR. Great to hear you got such a deal and earned the Appleseed patch with it.

The Nutnfancy Project

You are welcome. I think you'll find a lot you can relate to in this video as I reveal how cheated I feel that my Dad died so young. It hurts to think about and you'll feel that in the video I think.

Rob Miller

22 minutes in and it hit me that you ARE Doing a good life’s work. What a blessing to find your calling. Not sure but I think God had me write that line in my note to you with the knives I sent to be signed. Pretty cool when He speaks to us and we have ears to hear. Back to laundry....then more video!

David Englehart

Love the philosophy vids! I can't wait to watch this after Church tomorrow 🙂

3jeep

Awesome Job Nutn! Your philosophy vids are what brought me to your channel. The gear is cool, but why we have the gear and train to be protectors is what is really important. Thanks for sharing your deep thoughts and life lessons.

Aaron Martin

1 way to earn Nutn's respect, pass a gear check & have your rifle zeroed.

Racing Psychosis

I was almost in one of those rest homes at one point 6 years ago. But in the back of my head my parents are saying get your damn ass up and fight.

Connor Murphy

I really appreciate your wisdom and I always take away valuable principles from these philosophy videos. Thank you, Nutn. Also, I'm so sorry to hear about Veri, I missed the livestream where you mentioned it.

Jpez

I really do enjoy the life philosophy vids...the right words at the right time can be life changing.

Richard Leonard

Great topic, and good presentation. I share your concern about the future of our country and the people that will be representing our values going forward.

Brad Fegan

Definitely wasn't overstating when, said making it real. I like it real. Thank you for that. I wish others would follow suit. Values, morals and ethics, is definitely being significantly diminished/demonitized in today's state of affairs, in this country. It's disheartening to be witness to. Being apart of TNP and the values it stands for, says to me, that they are NOT dead and WE are NOT going to let it die.

Michael McAtee

Started watching at 14 here I am at 25! This topic is very important to me because on paper I feel like I am doing well but m my heart I know I’m lacking. This is why we love you Nut’n.

Laylit

What a great video. It was very moving and even funny at times! I bet some of it wasn‘t easy to talk about. In any case it will help with self reflecting and taking time to slow down and think for a moment. Thank you very much, Nutn! This is highly appreciated.

Sheepdog

Philosophy videos like this are the true "meat" of the Nutnfancy project. They are the highest value "premium" content from the project. Second are the adventure videos (of any kind - backpacking, shooting, boating, van living, wolverine and the like), followed by the gear reviews, which, don't get me wrong, I enjoy a lot. I was super happy to see notification of this in my email. Just getting ready to watch it and savor it. Hopefully it will live up to classic TNP philosophy videos like "Live to Impress Yourself" , "Lessons of my father" and "concealed carry protocol".

Michael McAtee

3/4 of the way through this I got guilty and had to clean my house. Haha

David and Elizabeth

This was all extremely valuable that will serve one well throughout an entire lifetime. Not only as a son or daughter but also continuing on as a spouse and parent. We appreciate your humbleness, humility, and openness when it comes to sharing that you're imperfect just like the rest of us. All while pointing to God and your relationship with Him as the true source of ever becoming a better person. Your service here is appreciated more than you know. We love you, Nutn!!!!! 👨‍👩‍👧❤

Schmuckatelli

When you are genuine and sincere, it comes across to the people you are talking to. I don't think I've ever seen the Col display these qualities more so than in this video. Thank you, LtCol Nutn for being so generous with your personal and sometimes painful true-life accounts. This is definitely one of...if not THE best philosophy video produced to date. These points hit home with my life as well. I had a lump in my throat when you related how losing your dad made you feel, because I feel the same way about my father. My dad had a long list of faults (as we all do), but he truly loved me and my brother and I think my dad did a great job of raising us two boys. As an adult, my father often told me how proud he was of me and I cherish the memories of those quiet, personal conversations between the two of us. Thanks again for sharing this info with your audience. There is no other content creator on the internet that provides the extremely high-value material that you give the TNPrs. Thank you.

Schmuckatelli

Today is Valentines Day and I am spending it with my wife at the range zeroing a new scope on one of my ARs.

Schmuckatelli

Stay humble and seek the Lord's guidance and you'll never go wrong. I am encouraged to hear someone in their 20s that already has the measure of wisdom you do. Keep it up. I don't even know you and I'm proud of you.

Jeff Johnson

Great message Nutn. As one who's parents have passed on and am seeing my sons go through this with their kids I agree with your advice. I think my boys feel loved. I know they have earned my respect and I tell them they have. I appreciate you emphasizing the importance of help from Heavenly Father. So necessary.

Aaron Martin

Now that's a date! Congrats, have fun!

The Nutnfancy Project

I hope you like it Sheepdog, I am glad to put some more "meat on the bones" for TNP!

The Nutnfancy Project

Love you back, thanks so much D&E. As always your comments and participation here are appreciated.

The Nutnfancy Project

Thank you very much RG, I appreciate all you said. I think the best content is REAL and not doctored up. So very little of that these days. I sincerely hope to strengthen our relationships, even the flawed ones, with all our family. We will find peace and strength in this. I sounds very much like you get this very clearly. I appreciate what you said about your Dad too.

The Nutnfancy Project

" I appreciate you emphasizing the importance of help from Heavenly Father. So necessary. " You're welcome and I will continue to do so. We have entered the societal phase where the good people will cling closer to God and find strength from it. Thanks JJ

The Nutnfancy Project

"It's disheartening to be witness to. Being apart of TNP and the values it stands for, says to me, that they are NOT dead and WE are NOT going to let it die." I agree. It's a downward slide. But we can and should make our own homes refuge from all the hate and craziness we are seeing everywhere. And yep, these are the TNP values. So when you clip that TNP knife to your pocket, it stands for that.

Robert Fuller

The secular point of view of human history is that man has left the puddle and is heading for Paradise of his own making. Biblical view is that man was cast from Paradise and is descending to the puddle due to sin of his own choosing. Deep Huh?

Sheepdog

You delivered for sure. Destined to be another TNP philosophy classic!

Tex

what an awesome video

Michael

please do one for daughters!

Andrettski

I'm assuming that Mrs Nutn is the rock of your family as my wife is mine. I wouldn't be where I am w/o her. We couldn't have kids but we were very instrumental to our niece and nephew because their father was a full blown alcoholic. So I had some fulfillment as an Uncle I guess and they've made me proud.

Andrettski

As for your sons, I would just give them some advice that dating is like fishing, if your line isn't in the water you'll never catch anything and you'll go hungry.

Trustful Marksman

Nutn your life philosophy vids are the best part of the project. I love to re watch lessons of my father, live life to impress yourself, dangerous things. Workers are few especially resonated with me. I feel like an outsider in my own generation (millennials) surrounded by entitled wimps with no work ethic. Keep telling the truth and i'll keep listening.

Phake A'Count

I wouldn't say the secular paradise is inevitable or perhaps even likely. That's a very whiggish reading of history. In truth history is a complex story of advances and setbacks of the human condition.

Phake A'Count

Not sure my Dad lived long enough for me to impress him. He died in 1999 at age 51. I was 33 then. I had a financially shaky law practice. I think he appreciated the effort I put into paying my own way through college in the '80s (not really possible now) and in packing up my life and moving from MA to OH in my old car to attend law school. He never talked about his feelings. He started from humble origins and worked his way to corporate middle management. He started a Xmas tree farm, retired from corporate life, and promptly dropped dead. I became an assistant DA four years later. (THAT would have impressed him.) Well, his early death taught me to live in the present and not to assume better things are coming tomorrow. Life's to short to be a workaholic like my Dad was. Once in the 1990s I told him some things I read about astronauts and said that I would never do something as insanely dangerous as landing on the moon. He looked at me and said "Yes, you would have." *shrug*

Tacticaldoodle

Maybe the real treasure was the room we cleaned along the way

Tacticaldoodle

It's really sad to see what popular culture is thinking about the idea of fatherhood. I once had a conversation with a girl who reacted quite poorly to the idea of guys wanting to be a dad. To her, the only reason one would be a father is because he was forced into it by external circumstances. According to her, the only reason a guy would want kids is for some nefarious purpose (she actually said worse, but) or as an ego trip to aggrandize themselves by bullying a little slave kid around the house. More distressing that one kooky statement was the other girl in the room nodding her head like it was a good sermon.

Andrew Baldwin

Awesome video! I so appreciate how honest you are about where your inspiration for these philosophy vids come from. The Lord has given you an incredible platform to bless the lives of TNPers the world over and it's so awesome to be a part of it. Keep it up Nutn!

Paul Griech

Great stuff Nutnfancy the problem with the world is parents are not parents there friendships with children!

Brettano

Wow. was not expecting this. Real talk ❤️️ 🤜

Brettano

Also what rifle is at the bottom please?

DACampbell

Great Video Nutn. Just imagine what you would do if you knew your Dad could not communicate with you five years from now. Take action now! Nutn provides a great framework to start.

Steve Ouellette

Took a few days to get the courage to watch this. Glad I finally did so thanks

NatvMan

Finally had time to watch this. I’m 35 and married for 12 years. Have 4 kids. One thing I learned from my Dad was helping others. We had a widow for a neighbor growing up. As part of our chores growing up included pulling all the weeds in her yard. I am glad I was taught this, and hope I am able to teach this to my kids. Keep up the good work Nutnfancy!

The Nutnfancy Project

I will buddy, thanks for the nice words. Glad to hear you stand apart from the other Ms.

The Nutnfancy Project

Wow, what a great story. I read it with great interest. Sorry about the sadness it holds. It sounds like you made it and you know your Dad, like mine, IS impressed with you. And you're right: don't work yourself to death. Balance out life.

HairyPost

Thanks for this sometimes it needs to be herd! Never to late to be a good dad or son!!

James and Whitney

Great video Nutn! I hope you called the fire department for your sons after inflicting those 3rd degree burns. I'm just kidding of course. I feel for them. Two years ago I was in their shoes. It took me the better part of two years to find mine! I was on every dating app and trying to set up dates for every weekend. It was rough, ton of rejection and "ghosting." I never gave up and when I was ready, God gave me her!

watchman5

Umm...Yes! That's what we're missing in this society! Thank you Nutn for getting to the heart of the matter!

William R. Stevens III

This is why I Love u man!! You are so spot on! Also thanks for always being so transparent with sharing the hard stuff because life is hard and rewarding!! Some day I hope to meet you and be able to buy you dinner some time!!!! 🙏

Greg Weber

I grew up the son of an infantry colonel. All the hard lessons taught, with tough love , and a bit of emotional austerity. He and my drill sgt taught me everything I need to know . I mean everything. How to survive, fight, win and be passionate about life. How to find something that gets you out of bed every morning . How to make a difference to your fellow humans and how to be the leader of your family . I grew up around a lot of brats that rebelled at the way we were raised and have turned out to be these wounded, worthless, little birds that resent their fathers . I will never get it . Gosh we did such cool stuff as kids , dirt bikes , shooting, karate , hiking , all of them wrapped in a lesson ., My dad was a master at teaching the hard stuff . He is a hard but fair dad . I love my dad .

david rockwell

Familiar relationships are fraught with difficulty and disappoints. Those closest to us often fail to live up to our expectations. Perhaps the greatest lesson one can learn in their short life to temper expectation with generous acceptance. Thank you for taking the time and effort to put forth these messages.

Daniel Ingoglia

Damn, I didn't know about your sister, Nutn. Very sorry to hear about that, and thank you for your frank talk about dysfunction.

Daniel Herb

Always great thoughts and philosophy Nutn. Thanks for your insight and willingness to be a voice that needs to be heard. Life is hard and we all make mistakes and fall short, forgiveness is even harder to give/get with the way society handles differences these days. I will try to do my part....

SeamasterSig

Thank you Nutn for another great thought-provoking philosophy video! It took me a while to get around to watching it, but I knew I'd have to be in the right frame of mind to appreciate it.

PapaEcho1775

The philosophy vids are the best of all of the other great content. Maybe all the philosophy vids could be transposed into a book called 'Truth Darts'.

Gary Gross

I'm sitting in my cruiser listening to this, and I can't help to think that at every step in my life you always have wisdom to share. I can honestly say I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for your work.

Elijah Ballard

21 working on becoming a journeyman welder. Hard path but beautiful work.
