A new style to review! Homaging the excellent and traditional Zenith pilot watch, we look at the the Stührling 4004. It is very affordable and has the same look. But you'll miss the high quality, super strong case of the Zenith, and there's no auto movement. But at less than $100 it's a fraction of the price and may provide you with the same wrist fun.

TNP Lambo in 1:24 scale and the Stuhling are more in line with my budget, thank you very much....but agreed the style of the Zenith and this Sturhling are excellent!! I actually like how the gun metal of the hands match the silver of the case...but your mods are always sweet. I may need to send that link to Mrs Ram and the kids with Father's day around the corner!

Lol love that intro... also love those orange numerals! Looks rad!

Also, I never got the hate for people that have nice things. Sure, some people are mean, rude, etc. But, every time I see someone driving a Viper, Lamborghini, etc. I always choose to be inspired by them. That if they could achieve that level of sucess, maybe some day I could as well.

I watch all of your watch reviews but I have yet to buy one. Maybe one day I’ll understand the need for a watch.

I used to go without a watch because I always had my phone to tell time, but Nutn has converted me into a watch lover. It's totally a 2nd cool thing for me now. Watches are to men what shoes are to women. I explained it that way to my wife and now she supports all of my watch purchases.

Even if I could afford it, I'm not really drawn to the Zenith, nor the Sturhling. Lately, I've been really digging the Casio Pro Treks. I have purchased both a PRG-600 and a PRW-50 recently and I love both of those rugged time pieces.

I think it really comes down to what you do for a living. If you're able to enjoy your money and hobbies often, it makes sense that you don't really need one. For anyone who is away from home a lot, or isolated in a cubicle/cockpit/shop for lengthy periods, there really aren't too many things you can enjoy that you can take with you all day. I think that's a big element in why EDC stuff is so popular with dudes, they can bring their toys to work and fiddle with them at a desk.

Tacticaldoodle

I have only come to further loathe quartz and battery watches. Having to stock 17 different types of battery just to keep my meager collection running is getting old! As long as the auto is accurate enough for a 24 hour period I'm going for that one every time. Sure, they can be more long term-finicky over time, but I've had fewer movement issues than battery ones. There are just way, way too many battery types , and you can't seem to just stock up and keep them forever, because they'll die in storage, too!

These days, I don't think I'd ever, ever be able to enjoy a truly high performance car. They're so hi performance you can't even enjoy 1/5th of their power without incurring felonies, but that pales in comparison to the people. Everywhere you go, if you park at all, you are beset with questions, intrusions, like "hey what do you do for a living? How did you do that? Could you give me your number? I wanna do that too, lemme ask you how all the time". Worst of all, you have people using it for an insta photo op, so you come out to find husky-britched skanks sitting on your hood bragging about their sweet ride, or like that guy who had his toddler jumping on the hood and standing on it. It's for social butterflies for sure!

Bryan Palmer

Lol Roger that! I have a friend who owned a Ducati 1199 Paigale and the story was the same. Sure, it didn't garnish anywhere near the fanfare of something like a Lamborghini, but he couldn't rev out of 2nd without exceeding most every speed limit in the US.

Kelly McClellan

That’s a great point TD, I’m big into knifes, and I use them dozens of times a day as a carpenter. Perhaps when I move out of my current field will make more sense.

Kevin Tanner

Would love to see a TNP special edition watch of any variety!

Clint Allison

Thanks for the review. I actually picked one of these up last fall for my grandfather in law as a thank you for talking me for a ride in his T34. I think you would approve of it... Anyway, it reminded me so much of the gauges in his plane, I thought he needed it. I was really impressed with it for the cost. I believe the one I got for him was a dark green. Quite a handsome watch.

Moe Mansour

That Lambo sounds like it needs an oil change 😬

Hold Fast Joe

Really enjoyed the watch show! I liked both of the deberts! I've been using a cheap Timex Chrono for several years. Scratched the heck out of it. Got a more expensive chronograph but it tends to stay in a box because I just cry over the wear and tear. The timex I just don't care lol These were fun to look at. Thanks!

TechNeck

Haha.. yeah, my old Army surplus Iltis (Ole' Irene) was like that, i would cone out of a store and people would be actually in it "checking it out"

TechNeck

I really like watches like this one... Ill never buy one though lol .. i kill timex expeditions in 6 months To a year. I bought a 500 citizens watch... It lasted 2 weeks... No warranty (it was sitting at the jewlery shop for 6 years, warranty is only good for 5) lol. They wanted $300 to replace the crystal that shattered when it fell 20" off my night stand onto laminate floor. Told them to keep it. Weld shop usually does every watch in pretty quick... Im a 1 watch guy... So timex usually lasts the longest so thats what i buy... Just turffed another expedition last week... Hands jammed after doing some hammer forming.

Bluegill097

Wow! I definitely dig that brown one, which is weird for me. Have you ever checked out any Pagani watches? They do some high value homage stuff I’ve been checking out lately. Anyway cool stuff thanks for the vid.

Hold Fast Joe

He has reviewed Pagani mixed in with other watch reviews. If I remember right they all got the thumbs up!

Bluegill097

Thanks! I knew he definitely didn’t do a whole vid one one, but I couldn’t remember if they showed up in other reviews or not.

Nancy Merrell-Robertson

This is a watch face I love. It's a pain to always find my glasses so that I can see the numbers and hands on my watch.

Daniel Herb

Another cool watch! Really enjoyed the look on the Sturhling Original 4004 with that peach color. I'd say a must add to the collection. Those Debert watches where ok, I don't really feel like I would need one though. It doesn't speak to me like the Sturhling Original....

Paul Kwiatkowski

I like the ‘value’ aspect of it. I currently wear a Momentum Smokejumper daily with a Glycine for easier days.

Thor Allen

Any hiking or camping content in the works?

The Nutnfancy Project

Great choice Clint. It's a looker and the price is right. That's awesome about the T34 ride too!

The Nutnfancy Project

Thanks Joe, watches are just plain fun. A great way to freshen up our EDC. The best addition I've made yet. I wore a Timex Exped. Chrono for days last week, loved it.

HappyFrancisMacomber

Cool, reminds me of the glycine big crown GMT you reviewed - I picked that up and threw it on a brown Panatime aviator strap then switched the grey / orange stock strap to a trintec pilot watch... man so fun

HappyFrancisMacomber

Right! How good the smokejumper is?!?Dress it up on leather or down on a para strap, fits under cuffs, super legible.

david rockwell

The Stuhrling is an excellent design and format. Pilot watches are innately appealing with a price tag for working people. America certainly appears to deviate further from founding principles every day. Thank you for the continued effort and dedication.
