These Bond Arms derringers seem highly rated. I had big doubts about them and therefor never sought one out for review. This one came to me through a family contact and he too was raving about how awesome it is (the Snake Eyes .45 Colt/.410 Shotshell version)...just like lots of online reviewers. They seem cozy with the Bond Arms company. It must be nice not being an outcast in the firearms industry!

But maybe I'm wrong about this Snake Eyes and we take it out to see how it does. Sadly it fails to impress as I had suspected.  In fact it was worse!  Rants to follow. Also I'll rant about the propensity for even having to kill a rattlesnake! Another fun not to be missed Nutnfancy GRV.

Greg Malcom

Love your rants! Blessings to you brother.

Nathan Simms aka Darkpriest

All derringers are gimmick guns in the modern era that were only ever meant to be card table pistols. If your target is more than 4 feet away the shoot is questionable. Keep ranting nutn.

Pedro

What a shame cause it definitely gives off euro spy vibes.

Aaron Hine

Woo hoo! Thank you nutn, I've been chompin at the bit for another grv, made my day buddy.

Matt

TBH I never liked the Derringer style guns. Purely second cool functionality. At least at Cabela's you walk in expecting to get ripped off lol.

Dawson Rabb

I grew up and work in CA on a cattle ranch in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada foothills. I have never seen a Couger (I know there are here though). We have never had them take any cattle either. 2nd point of agreement. I carry a gen 1 G17 in 9mm and use cci shotshells for rattlers all the time. No need for a .410. I can verify those 2 points with first hand experience Nutn. Love the rant.

Lon N

Dude dude dude..... I live in eastern Nebraska and have seen them 2 times less than 1/2 mile from my house, trust me when I tell you a mountain lion 30 yards away makes you wish for a golf bag full of weaponry instead of a puny pistol. I reserve the right to remain at the top of the food chain. That being said, I do not, nor will I ever own a derringer . Probably 30 years ago I shot one in 44 magnum - one shot- and handed it back. Best use for that one was to throw it and run, bad guy ain't gonna hit you and he will have a sore hand.

Im Brooks

Man I used to love hunting cougars when I was younger and they loved hunting me too. But I have never hunted mountain lions.

David Gaines

I’ve always thought these looked stupid

Hold Fast Joe

20 min in, love it lol I think the darringers are cool! I like the lever and break open like a little shotgun. It's unique, a 38/357 would be very fun. Bet on who will shoot a high power 357 through it lol I'll never own one unless it was dirt cheap. But someone who already has one and wants to share I would pitch in a box of ammo to play a little

RY

NAA Pug

Shawn Kuse

Owned one Bond Arms derringer, then sold it. Too big for EDC. I will keep my smaller NAA 22 mag derringers as my secondary backup.

Hold Fast Joe

I get more of the I'm in a western vibe

Pedro

I can definitely see that too. I’m imagining a waitress as a ball keeping it super close and tucked under a dress pant or something

Cyborg009

Huzzah Nutn for ranting on the “Kill everything” pussies. There’s no reason to kill snakes and cougars unless they are about to chomp on you. In California you run into rattlers all the time just chilling. Cougars are barely hanging on. Leave them alone!

Schmuckatelli

Never really had a boner for a derringer. The wife wants one (a derringer, that is). I told her if she starts wearing petticoats and garter belts on a daily basis that I'll buy her one (just not a Bond Arms Snake Eyes). Glad you are not in bed with any sponsors. Some friends will sometimes ask me about a gun before they buy it and tell me they've watched positive reviews on CommieTube. Without fail I tell them all they have done is watched a commercial, because those reviewers would never risk losing their corporate sponsorships by making an honest review.

Trevor K

Okay so first I would have that space between the barrels hollowed out to save weight. Then buzz off the sights and just have a big open notch and a bead sight. Then after that I would get rid of it and buy an airlite 38 and just load it with Cci shot shells.

Connor Murphy

Fantastic thumbnail! Every time you get a Derringer, it ends up with a rant. Keep up the great rants!

Paul Kwiatkowski

That was a well-balanced review and I see that you worked hard to get some positives in there

Christopher B.

Saw the word "derringer" and almost skipped the review. Until I saw your screaming face and the downward pointed thumb. Then I knew I would love the review.

Brievet

Emergency room hahaha

vrich3733

I'm laughing so hard. 12:34 "hold on I'm gonna blow his head off"🤣🤣🤣 I wanna make that my ringtone.

Moe Mansour

The stories about your dad are awesome. Dude was a maverick. Speaking of stories, I think we'd all love more Air force stories. Maybe some of the lighter more humorous stuff. Kinda like the ACE Iona review.

Adam Boyd

Rant! Rant! Rant! 😁

Adam Boyd

Seriously though, a poisonous snake would have to be within 3 feet and threatening to be considered a threat. Anyone carrying a gun should be able to hit with a pistol round, at that range, without relying on the "spread" from a 410.

Cyborg009

Sure, but then I think you need something closer to actual derringers of the Old West. The ammo used for real Old West Derringers like the Remington 95 were the equivalents of modern .22 short to maybe .32 S&W at the high end in terms of energy and velocity.

Cyborg009

I have seen lots of rattlers and other dangerous snakes. They either don't care about humans or are scared of them. There's no need to kill them. And I agree if your pet is stupid enough to tangle with a rattler, let natural selection do its work.

Cyborg009

The only guy who should be using a derringer is Sam Cobra.

Glenn Rawson

Sometimes dispatching a poisonous snake is the best option for when you have a dog going crazy around it at the house. My wife killed a rattlesnake last week but definitely didn't do it with a damn derringer (Benelli Nova 20 ga).

Jay

I have a Great Western derringer in 38 Special, a great collectors piece from the 50's. It is promised to my grandson who loved a plastic derringer since he was a youngster

DuginIN

Yeah P365XL. Try a Swampfox Sentinel optic. When I’m on an outdoor adventure a hat is better than a Bond Arms, what I’ll most likely kill is annoying insects.

Ruben Lopez

Hey Nutn! Just finished my first term of school, I'm 9 months into my Electrician Apprenticeship. Only 9 more terms and 4yrs, 3mo 🤣. Your words on self/positive talk rang so true during my final on Monday! 👊🏾 Thanks! You're tha man!

Tacticaldoodle

Smart smart man. If/when stuff really falls apart you'll be the closest thing to a wizard roaming about the landscape. Just make sure to call electricity "the thunder ghosts" and you'll be able to build the biggest harem in the state!

RowdyRon

Interesting review. Second cool is about all I could give it. Looks well made though. At least your brother in law is a gun guy. Thanks Nutn!

Harold Galen McPheron

SASS is a fantasy game, the Bond derringer dominate the side matches, and they are tuned to provide some amazing times for two shots...

David Gaines

Talking about how rare a snake bite is and I literally have a patient in the ER 20 ft aware from me that I’m treating for a copperhead bite lol. But that’s in GA.

Ol Retired Fed

One is none and two is one more that none in a handgun. They better be close and you better be accurate with just 2 rounds. My experience with snakes is watch where you walk, pay attention, leave them all alone (poisonous or not), and if you get bit it's usually because you didn't follow the first 3 recommendations.

Nicolas Royston

If you are in cougar country you are probably also in bear country. So you should just have your glock 10mm which will take care of both. Most of the people who have trouble with cougar and bear are ranchers when the cows are calving

TechNeck

Ive seen cougars 4 times in my life... Twice i was being hunted. First time in scouts, second time while hunting.. cougar was coming into our half shelter my buddy woke up let of a blast of 12 gauge... He somehow missed, cat jumped like 6 feet and bolted. I have pictures of the paw prints in the snow, they are as big as my hand (i wear xl gloves). A 2 shot 410 is not what i would want. My buddy is one of less then 500 people in canada with a wilderness carry permit for hand gun, he carries a 10mm glock, and in Alberta i feel he is under gunned lol

Logan Verner

The Bond Arms Backup was the 1st pistol I ever bought 10 years ago or so. Well made guns. It’s a great 2nd cool gun. I take it kayak fishing every now and then but not much. The bull pup 9 that they remade from boberg is by far their best gun. You have cost me a lot of money over the last decade. Keep up the good work.

Scott Reichard

I like snakes. You can avoid them or move them carefully with a 5 foot stick. Very few reasons to ever kill them. By the way.. without getting into personalities or such. Snakes are venomous. Ie they have bad toxins in a bite. Poisonous means you ate something bad. So dont eat snakes or things that make you sick. Its like confusing powerful and dangerous. A man with a glock 20 and 8 spare mags has lots of potential energy.. does not make him ill tempered or angry. Most snakes want to avoid you. They are not hunting you. They just want space. Cougars are great creatures. Wish we had more around. If your dog or cat is not controlled in your yard or home then a hungry creature is going to confuse them with dinner. Please dont get into a mindset of killing everything you can. There is no reason for it. Just because you have a chainsaw does not mean every tree you see should be cut. If your not grown up enough to deal with walking thru the woods without getting scared you may need to learn to stay in your car and off the trail. And the stupid heavy 2 shot pistol seems like a stupid answer to a question not asked. Rather carry a s&w 638 revolver in aluminum. Or a glock 26 that has actual capacity and function ounce for ounce. Lugging around heavy stuff on your belt gets old fast unless you are truly in a place with very dangerous folks or critters. I carry a large can of bear spray a lot and a mid sized knive.

Moe Mansour

Thunder ghosts. Nice! 👌

Brad Fegan

Love the rant, I will admit the craftsmanship is good enough for a display case but that's about it. Not much in the way of practical use. Love the Sig P365. Love the 365XL even more.

Chris Hibler

Speaking of men killing things...It sounds like you look back on bullfrog target practice much differently now. Good for you. Yep...those derringers suck. The worst part imho is being hard to grip and cock with one hand.

Brettano

The next gun is the Tarantula slayer

Cyborg009

Fully agree about snakes. Don't step on one and keep your dogs and cats under control. Snakes don't hunt humans or pets bigger than rabbits. Bears can be very cranky and I understand the point of bear guns. But the bear better be charging you before you shoot it. Most of human/bear encounters involve the bear looking for that picnic basket, à la Yogi Bear.

Nancy Merrell-Robertson

It's pretty, so I would display it. But I don't really enjoy shooting any non-semiauto pistol.

Nancy Merrell-Robertson

I'm in North Georgia and I have friends in Dunwoody, Roswell, Cumming, Sandy Springs, whose dogs have been bitten in their backyards. I have about 3 years of leaves at the very back of my yard; I'm afraid to go down there...

Nancy Merrell-Robertson

Agreed! Leave the beautiful cougars alone. They are magnificent. (Kill all the rattlers and deadly snakes though. I hate 'em.)

Schmuckatelli

Any TNP vid with "Rant" in the title is a popcorn-worthy mode of entertainment and information.

Guy Actual

1:48 in.... THATS LAST SUSPECT!!!!!! OMG!!!

David Gaines

I don’t blame you! I’m up in the northeast corner on the other side of Gainesville.

Guy Actual

5:25 ... People hunt mountain lions? Why do I feel that be kinda messed up?

Guy Actual

8:43... You know you ruined that gun for him. lol

Guy Actual

11:45... I'm pretty sure the majority of the people here passed judgement the moment we saw what was in the thumbnail.

Guy Actual

14:54..... SIX HUNDRED AND THREE DOLLARS $$$$...WHAT??

Guy Actual

22:25 .... No LS for the table top?

Guy Actual

26:27... Didnt the 329PD draw blood on a few TMPers??

Guy Actual

31:41... Can you really get 5 00/000 buck shot in a 410 shell? Thats kinda cool if you can.

Guy Actual

42:11... All I can think if now is Jeff Goldbloom in the movie Silverado. He had a little twin shot stuffed up his sleeve in the movie. Is that how I'm supposed to carry this 24oz (Unloaded) twinkie? Up my sleeve? .... Didn't he die because of this gun? (Horrible movie)

Guy Actual

43:59... my grandfather used to build Lightnings! They used to be my favorite plane.

Bravo

I gotta know what watch last suspect was wearing early in the vid was it a gravity master? I just realized I need one of those!

Joshua Pulliam

Ok Nutn, I have to let my BS in Conservation and Wildlife Management out and correct you. Because I just can't let it go. . . . And it is a rant! Snakes are not poisonous! They are venomous! I totally agree with you on this gun. I would never buy one. In fact I'm pretty much out on anything with limited rounds capacity like this. Thank you for all your hard work keeping us entertained!

Robert Avery

Completely random request, but could consider doing a review of your truck? I know you've had it for a good amount of time. Any interest in getting a new one any time soon?

Tacticaldoodle

Their new bobby actually looks a bit better than the old one. I'm curious about one, we tried the older one a while ago. Kinda cute, too.

Tacticaldoodle

I have nearly zero animosity towards wild animals. In fact, the only creature that I lay eyes on and immediately start doing the algebra of lethality: Pitbulls. (Yeah, yeah, NAPALT, but good trainers are even rarer than regular dog owners. From what I see of the girls around here, they have a fetish for power tripping and spooking everyone in public, while telling themselves they're strong enough to reign it in if needed. They never do...)

Tacticaldoodle

Kinda, but it does depend on the area. If you see some of those places at night, with a hundred plus big fat three pound frogs, then you feel less bad about culling a couple here or there. They do help with the bugs though...

Tacticaldoodle

Yes in practice, but it doesn't have the same power you'd want it to....

Guy Actual

I can understand the BS. It gets to me sometimes when people use "Good" when they should use "Well". Both my mother and my grandmother were English teachers and speech pathologist, and their wording OCD was passed down. Somehow they were punished with me... A dyslexic and disgraphic child. lol

Guy Actual

I have to disagree... I've been chased off a few banks and lake shores by water moccasins. I know their just curious, but then I move and they get on the defensive. Either way, I don't want to get struck due to their curiosity/ignorance.

Joshua Pulliam

My degree really drives my wife crazy because I call things what they are supposed to be called. Not what most people commonly call them!

Guy Actual

(Clairafication - I do not agree with hunting down water moccasins, only stating that I disagree they don't hurt humans.)

Scott Reichard

Joshua i covered the poison / venom issue. It is another of the many things that just makes me crazy. If you spend any time around a courthouse guns just constantly go off by themselves. And the folks that are too stupid to be around firearms and assume that that happens to everyone.. no it does not. Its not an accidential discharge when you were too stupid to check and handle the gun correctly. Most of the news idiots finally stopped saying drunk driving accident.. when you drink 2 liters of booze and drive 110 mph and run a red light and hit a family its no accident.. its just a crash. So now i had a rant of my own...

Scott Reichard

Robert.. i agree. Would love a detailed truck review. I drive an old superduty w manual 5 speed. Looking for a sequoia or land cruiser. Maybe an expedition. Would love to hear about the nutn truck.. i know its been well maintained. But i trust nutn to say whats good and bad.. just like guns.

Scott Reichard

Doodle. I think dogs are fine.. been bit by a 125 pound black lab while sitting on the side door of a van doing my job. Terrible owner.. she did nothing to control the animal and according to the police i was the 6th person bit by the black lab that year. Found out my employer charged me for vacation days because unless your off several days they will not give you workers comp. I worked in the news business for decades. As a technical engineer.. had nothing to do with the liberal lies and bs that came out the stupid box.. i have seen many pit bull attacks.. the outcome at least. Many on children. And the scars and terror are forever. The owners were NEVER able to control the animal. The typical woman walking the dog had no ability to control verbally or physically an animal with intense drive and sudden anger. A german shepard is strong, so is a doberman. But the bite force is not quite the same level. My daughter has a red tailed boa.. and I have been around zoo and wildlife folks a lot. Snakes in my opinion are easy to avoid and dont need to be killed because you come across one. I would not ever allow a venomous snake to live in my home, but I sure dont fear them being around. I am not a fan of dog owners that cant control their animals. Seems a lot of inner city thugs like to keep untrained dogs around to act like some sort of bad man street cred. What a world we live it.

Scott Reichard

Guy actual. If your trapped by a snake I agree it might need to be dealt with.. nobody is saying threats dont exist. We were just trying to say that every snake you see should not be killed because it exists. I remember in college trying to get a drunk woman home so she was in a safe place. Not my date or girlfriend, but I saw a potential problem leaving an attractive girl with too much alcohol in a house with a bunch of guys with too much alcohol.. and I ended up with a cheerleader bite. Really.. it was my favorite scar..

Ben Wagner

Love the rants. I don’t understand the appeal. If you want a single action, get a revolver with a grip that actually fits your hand. If you want to shoot 410 in a handgun, get a Judge or Governor.

Ben Wagner

My Shield Plus has 13 round capacity and weighs 17.9 oz. Bond Arms are pure 2nd cool.

Cory C

I think you’re off on the hunting thing. “Especially with dogs”, the more of this kind of thing we give up to the dems the more they will take. People legally hunting cougars usually eat em, and biologists set the bag limits in order to prevent over hunting. Illegal poaching is a different story.

Phake A'Count

If I'm ever killed by a mountain lion, you can be sure that my last words were, "Kitty, kitty, kitty." I'd rather see snakes than rats. What is it with domesticated dogs that compels them to start fights with wildlife that they cannot possibly win? They attack cougars, bears, porcupines, wolves and coyotes. Just why?

Phake A'Count

Also, the Vought Corsair was awesome. The Japanese ended the war with the same airplanes that they used at the beginning. Meanwhile, American aviation kept improving. The Hellcat in 1943 must have come as a nasty surprise to those Zero pilots. The Corsair was even faster and more deadly, even if the USN had trouble landing them on carriers at first. The P38 had a pretty storied history in both war theaters, too. I saw one at the Wright Patterson AF museum in Ohio once. My grandfather used to work on P38s during the war.

Lon N

It is"interesting" to find cat tracks near the size of your hand in the mud along the creek. I heard one "tomcat yowling" just after dark one night. I would guess he was less than 200 yards from the house, the yowls echoing in the trees had my hair dancing the macarena.

Lon N

Scott, if you use the "balloon" next to the heart under the post you want to comment on it will nest under the post like this one, and should notify the poster, depending on account settings. I suspect one reason emotionally driven liberals fear firearms so much is that they cannot imagine themselves owning a firearm without turning into the "perpetually offended serial killer"....speaking of rants.

Lon N

Because they are exhibiting the same behaviors that we bred them for when we first domesticated wolves.

Paul Griech

That was the one of your best reviews Truth is why I watch! Smells like shit looks like shit it’s probably shit! Overpriced paper weight! lol keep em coming

Green Mountain Boys

Don't own any Bond arms products, and don't understand the appeal...however, if a family member or friend came up to show theirs to me, obviously excited about the purchase, I also wouldn't see any benefit to being a dick about it. YMMV.

Kenny VanCleave

It was good to see Last Suspect in the project again. He was missed. I owned a Bond a few years ago. Worst gun purchase I ever made. Gimmick guns don't last long in my collection. I.e. the Shockwave.

mm80121

WE WANT MORE RANTS AND RAIL SESSIONS AND POLITICAL VIDEOS….if you please, oh and sorry for yelling I just get excited sometimes

Sheepdog

Wow, we just had a LastSuspect sighting. Very Rare! "How about you walk around him (a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake)" Exactly. Seen many a rattlesnakes in my back country hiking and never had a need to do anything but that.

Hugh Amlett

Came here for this comment, no need to trash legal hunting. Legal hunters provide more money for conservation than any lefty crybaby

Racing Psychosis

Exactly. Poaching is a whole different thing.

CincinnatiDan (Ohio)

Respectfully, why is Last Suspect wearing a mask outdoors? Even more so when he's with a family member?

CincinnatiDan (Ohio)

what are you using to tag the bottom of the magazines, especially LS's rig full of P365 mags? Does it last or just long enough to get in and out of the desert? I have several similar mags... 92FS, P229, PX4 and custom floor plates are too expensive and yellowish masking tape looks crappy.

TechNeck

Snakes can be serious problems. In Afghanistan they liked to crawl into boots and sleeping bags, if you disturbed them you got bit... When you are dealing with covras and vipers... You get bit you die. There was only two anti venom doses in afghanistan for the vipers.... Mer hours away... Even ran into a viper in the showers... It met its fate via the head of a spade.

Tacticaldoodle

Sometimes it's funny to see the disparity in people talking about the mishmash and dead ends of equipment development the germans had, and sometimes the hodgepodge of the Japanese, but we never really acknowledge the US variety too. I think the size of our country lessened the impact of all those different airframes and types being churned out all the time. We didn't do a ton of small arms dev, but it's not like there wasn't any big changes throughout the war, y'know? Just something I've been thinking about lately. Well, we didn't do dumb giant railroad guns, those were just stupid.

Clint Allison

That is probably the funniest review you've ever done 🤣 Idk why but.... I still want one. I think I'm just in love with everything 45LC 🤷

Green Mountain Boys

Tough to compare a nation that was able to produce the vast majority of it's own raw materials and casually load them on rail lines directly to multiple factories staffed with skilled employees to those with little resources, under blockade, strategic bombing, that were eventually forced to manufacture weapons systems underground with slave labor. In regards to small arms, since the M-16 and variants have been in production (beyond the fact that the StG-44 wasn't developed because the Germans were sick of winning...), we have gone thru 4 generations of fighter aircraft... Boeing and McDonnell Douglas must have better lobbyists than Colt and FN I suppose. Crickets.

Andrew H

Nutn's review of the gun is worth more than the gun itself LOL! BTW, I'm sure there's a video out there that says it, but what the gloves that Nutn's wearing in the video?

Patrick Brichta

Totally off topic...But: Time to Get Political boys and girls. I'm Not sure if anyone else has shared this yet, but we need to make our voices heard. These two links will take you to the automatic forms to share your thoughts on the proposed bans through the ATF. If our forefathers could stand up to British Redcoats for our freedom, you can take 5 minutes to fill out these forms. Actually the GOA has already supplied a form letter, so you won't even need to wrack your noggins too hard for what to say. Time to act is now, not after a ban takes place. I always handled cougars by laying on my back....and keeping a good supply of wine....(when I was much younger, don't "Judge" me.) (They really seemed to like snakes.) My second cool derringer would be in 38 spl rated to +P. Goes to backpack flight or fight backup, and crossover ammo from my other gear.

david rockwell

Fill out some information, enter your name and send some ducats to the GOA. Thank you for posting the links. Get involved; next time they come for you.

The Nutnfancy Project

Copy guys I will do it. I am not planning on getting another one....I love my 2011 Titan!

The Nutnfancy Project

Yes it was, great eyes...that's the gray one I think with my yellow hands mod on it...really xlnt watches.

Robert Avery

Love the old 5 speeds. I have a Tundra which although may be dated has been dead reliable as I'm guessing so has Nutns Titan. I used to own an xterra too which was also very reliable. Looking forward to an upcoming Titan review for sure. 🤘

Zak Orendorff

Lol “it’s shitty”. I’m so glad I’m back on TNP Patreon. I missed this channel.

Jesse (Sphinx)

I have the roughneck in 45 ACP. Always wanted a derringer and this was brand new, made in Texas, for $269! Bought it for kicks and we get a laugh setting off 230gr ball in it trying to hit a 12” plate (we don’t). Just wanted a derringer in the collection and at $269 and made in Texas grabbed it. Fuggedaboutit at $600. Fun fact that I’m sure you know: P-38s had to invert before the pilot could bail out or else they’d have an unpleasant encounter with the tail.

Derek W Tiller

snakes and cougars ARE cool. nobody should be shooting them willy-nilly.

weston wilson

Ok ok nutn. you hated it, i can see that. BUT BIG POU. when California bans everything but 2 rounds, this will have its day!

A

With prices the way they are, maybe you can only afford to buy 2 rounds. LOL. Good review Nutn!

Tacticaldoodle

Kinda weird, I had a GF bite me too. She was an emo "rawr dinosaur" type, and it gave me a cool scar for a while. Too bad it healed up.

Daniel Herb

Not a fan of the derringer.... there is some second cool in the old western derringer stuff but not really pumped about this Bond Arms one....

William H

The derringer has a very specific POU: poker games and costume parties, unloaded in both instances, for safe handling demonstrations to firearm neophytes. There you go!

Jordan Wolfe

My buddy got one of these last year. It's been for sale ever since. Last I heard he was thinking of trading it for a webber kettle.
