A value 1911 review with TacticalDoodle in attendance! We shot this thing way more than we should have for the review but our emerged data are solid. We focus on a WW II them with the ATI "Military" 1911, full sized version. The value is incredible but of course it don't mean crap if this dog don't hunt.  So here in our meandering GRV we'll get to that for sure.  You'll have our complete opinion on this Filipino produced 1911.

In the meantime we have to dogfight an ME109 and P51 and then give a shout out to Elite TNP Donors who make this nonsense possible. Another fun not to be missed GRV, esp. for our 1911 friends.

PS Also in attendance: paratrooper stocked M1 Carbine

1911 speaks to my heart. My first "War pistol." I have a Kimber custome 2, love it and it works great. Reguardless of how this opinion turns out, I love 1911 stuffs. Thanks Nutn and T Doodle. And I love the extra subject info.

Shawn Kuse

Luv me some 1911 GRV’s!!!!

The Nutnfancy Project

You are most welcome JJ and we still love the 1911 for the reasons indicated, so fun to shoot. We got a Tisas one coming at you later and a few more high end ones too! "And I love the extra subject info." We do too thanks for that support, we are here to have fun!

David Perez

Perfect timing 👌 for a WW2 vid, always dig these . Keep up the good work !

Shawn Kuse

Rock on brother Nutn and TD!

James and Whitney

Love the 1911 reviews! Have you done the Taurus or Rock Island? I don't remeber now. Anways, we all have our poly GTW pistols but some steel frame stuff really gets me all warm. Maybe you'll have time to do the 92x, PDP or storm someday. Love you guys! If you're making a list, the the wife and/or I would love to come shoot with you sometime. Thanks for all you do.

Matthew Hargis

Love this review. Thanks. I cannot wait for the SDS imports Tisas 1911 GI review. Picked mine up to fill the GI void as you guys explained. For sub $400, at the time, it was a great buy. No malfunctions either. Thanks again. -Sharkey

Todd Strelka

I like how simple it is. A 1911 is the smoothest pistol I ever shot.

Rho

This seems like it would be a good confidence builder for a new shooter beyond a .22. I have one of those Sig1911s that don’t look like a 1911 (Great Shooter) but this or that Turkish one might be the remedy to scratch an old style1911 itch. Thanks for the review.

Dr wolfgarb Sheep licker

Great video nutn. i actually own a SDS Tisas GI, really fun gun but does fail to go into battery sometimes. not a big deal for me considering its just a range toy. put some original GI grips on and it (almost) looks like the real thing. -Gabriel

brontoab1

I love the 10mm PCC mini rant. I'm right there with you. I roll my eyes when I hear people say they'd buy it if it was 10mm.

Zack

Awesome another 1911 video!!!! Nutn how come you havnt done any RIA 1911s? I have the tac ultra FS HC, nothing like 16 rounds of 10mm in a 1911, really tames it, and ultra reliable. They have so many options and are high value, right up your alley. Also that new stk100 looks cool.

Cory Risseeuw

They also manufacture the 1911 in the jungles of Cebu with primitive tools. They are shockingly good considering.

Brad Fegan

I have a ATI Fatboy. Neat little gun. Draw back is it came with only one mag and been unable to find more. Would I edc carry it.....nope. still fun though. Off topic but, I just purchased a 1952 Colt Offical Police in .38 special and is in really good condition. Sadly dealer didn't know its history.

Brett B

I have one of these and have been happy with it. I paid $350 for it a few years ago and I was shocked as to how smooth it is. The finish wears off easily on my example, but otherwise a great pistol.

Jen S

I picked up the Springfield MilSpec defender right before all this pandemic crap for around $450. I cant wait to see the Tisas vid. Saw one in my LGS for $409. tempting

Dylan Campbell

I Love my ATI Omni AR so much I have got to pick one of these up. There products are great in my eyes !!!

Tygre

Old Slabsides can still get it done.

RobK

My GF got the Tisas 1911 GI and replaced the grips with some wood US marked grips and could not be happier with it. fun range toy. sadly our range is closed for the foreseeable future due to damage from all the flooding of Ida

Andrettski

Thanks for the shout out and the GRV. 10 yrs ago when I was always stashing ammo I kept telling myself "You need to start buying 45, you know you're gonna get a 1911 at some point". Needless to say I don't have any 45 ammo and no pistol either. It's still a bucket list gun but it's really all about ammo.

Mike S

Glad to see a budget 1911 review for guys who can't spend over a grand on a 1911 pistol. When I saw footage in your bonus patreon preview, I thought this gun was that Rock Island Arsenal USGI style 1911. Was surprised that this was the actual gun, but it's good to know that this ATI 1911 worked pretty well.

NatvMan

Thanks for the shout out Nutn! Love the WW2 stuff. I am Navajo and thought it would be cool to have a WW2 code talker load out. So guns and new coms(the old stuff is super heavy).

Jordan Parker

Excellent GRV. I own a parkerized Tisas 1911A1 and it is a fantastic shooter. Based on my example of one, I would recommend it. I love having the second cool of the WWII period look without having to worry about wear and tear.

Jardine

What a bargain. The price for this 1911 is unbelievable.

Cheesewell

Oh man, I needed this! If there's a pistol that I would like to have, but don't yet, it'd be a 1911. I'm leaning towards a two-tone Smith & Wesson, something to share mags with the Marlin Camp rifle.. I've been out of the project for too long! Just been busy with life, have a ton of content to catch up on, as always thanks Nutin and Doodle.

Hold Fast Joe

Cool review! I'm famous! Woohoo I will die happy now lol Very impressed by that accuracy. Great shooter. Anyone else would've bought that right away but since both of you have amazing collections it's funny to hear TD gripe about the markings!

Christopher B.

Every collection demands at least one 1911. I wonder how the ATI would compare to a Rock Island Armory? My friend got a 3.5" barrel Rock Island during the pandemic panic. I'm currently tasked with function checking it and cleaning it to make sure it's reliable. Of course he's a lefty and there is no Ambidextrous safety so, the big box sporting goods gun store basically jacked my newby friend by selling him the wrong gun. I'll probably end up buying it from him for $350. That bare bones WW2 1911 aesthetic is irresistible.

Hugh Amlett

Auto Ordinance makes a GI 1911 for a fair price, I believe it's US made.

duroSIG556R

My cz 1911a1 was kind of a steal around 700 or a few years back.

Bluegill097

I have a TISAS, GI model. I love it, but the front sight flew off after about 700 rounds. I haven’t bothered to get it replaced yet. Aside from that issue, the gun has been rock solid with no jams.

Stan White

I just bought a springfield 1911A1 loaded modle. Use it as my "BBQ" gun. And my buddy got a budget 1911 just like the above and it shoots great no issues to date and looks awsome to.

A

17:45 Bill Richmond's brother (Louder With Crowder). lol

EthanRX

Maybe I need one to go alongside my "new to me" CMP Special Garand!

JC

I agree with the title. waste money on ammo not guns right now.

Lorenzo

Yes, infield footage, bueno.

John Bruce

Thanks for reviewing. I love these 1911 U.S. Government reproductions. After looking at a few including the ATI FX45, I chose the Tisas 1911 A1 U.S. Army model. It is a fun gun to own -- shoots flawlessly and is a close reproduction of the actual WWII U.S. Government model. Please review!!! You can't go wrong with any of those guns.

Lon N

A 1911 bonus GRV, thanks Nutn, TD & Sean. I think TD has a wonderful point - buy it to learn and tinker with. That's where I started a $250 1911 (1985 dollars) and reading a pile of books on gunsmithing. It's not magic, just a precision machine that makes loud noises.

Chris Fischer

Shot a few 1911s and haven't been impressed yet. For this price I may get one now!

Paul Griech

i have colt 1991 series 80 but i had issue with front sight not being staked properly! lol and it felt like i was carrying a brick lol too big of a gun for my small ass!

John

Neat-oh. My grandpa went to flight school with the pilot of that Mustang, John Landers. My dad has a photo of the two of them standing outside their barracks together in California. I believe a copy of Landers’ fighter hangs in the Imperial War Museum in England.

Jerome J

It looks really nice, with an old canvas holster this would look cool. I always wanted to own a 1911. I will keep my eyes open for that one.

Sean

LOL!!! That’s funny. I always think the same thing when they say “half Asian lawyer.” I’m pretty sure he would out shoot me though. Nice catch.

Scott Reichard

I must be older than dirt. 80 percent closer to the end of my days than the beginning. I have loved 1911's for over 40 years and I shoot them quickly and well. I just like the single action trigger and the thin form factor and the balance. I sure understand the good things about a light weight plastic gun with lots of capacity, but they dont offer much in the way of emotion for me. A 03 springfield or garand or mosin make me smile as well. The men that carried them into harms way and trusted those guns and their ability to keep working under horrible conditions. So a 1911 feels like it was made for my hand. I dont need to think about how it operates. It just works the way my brain is trained up on it. You know many modern things are awesome, but a DC3 or C47 or B1 bomber did the job for a long time and made no excuses. The 1911 is like that.

Tacticaldoodle

Kinda funny that the DC3 never got replaced and there's not much out there that could work as a viable replacement.

Tacticaldoodle

We did that with my aluminum framed taurus 1911 and I still love the dang thing. Surprisingly holds up over time, too.

Tacticaldoodle

That would be super cool. Too bad everything's skyrocketed in price. I once had someone ask if I had any old GI boots for sale because they're not just collectible, but pretty well made. With enough repro stuff you'll be fine, but it's funny to think how much the full ensembe has appreciated.

Tacticaldoodle

Too bad, I pitched the ambi safety on my taurus for being a little too spongy over time. There are worse first guns, I guess. At the time it's a good amount better than whatever was left on the racks during high tide.

Scott Reichard

It really is in use in a lot of places. Rough strips. Cargo thru the jungle and remote places. Still works great. You want a plane with satlink computerized systems in bolivia on some dirt runway ?? Or you want to fly home. ? A toyota hilux or land cruiser will run 30 or 40 years. Not as good mileage as a corolla. But in africa the land cruiser and old LR 2 from the 1950's still works every day. Imagine a bmw 7 series. Bad sensor and the battery needs to be coded.. bring it in..

Jerome J

Awesome pistol. I went to a local store today and they had two Rock Island 1911. Also made in the Philippines. About the same price. Not sure if it’s good.

Tacticaldoodle

Really quite sad we've killed our aviation industry in so many ways..... if it werent' fo the lawyers, the paperwork, etc. you'd see smaller shops being able to turn out low rate production to replace them. As-is people just drop millions to get the STC, stretch out the fuselage, and toss in some turbines. Really such a weird system. People talk about cuba's 70 yo cars, but that's what we have at every airstrip in the states. Imagine dropping $400k for a VW beetle with an Ipad stuck in the dash.....that's the C172!

Tacticaldoodle

One thing I've heard about the PC-12 is that the originals have some proprietary, unsourcable (now) parts from the 80's for the older tube avionics. They didn't plan that out so well, so unless you're willing to tear out the deck and go modern glass, you're scavenging up old ones. Kinda wild.

Lon N

A friend's son bought a RI 1911 about 2 years ago. He loves it, it shoots great. I wouldn't fear buying one. They also have a very nice lineup of double stack 2011's (HC in Rock Island Lingo) I lust for.

Christopher B.

At least he didn't get a Hi-Point, yeah. I'm trying to push my him towards buying a Glock. I can't think of anything better for a lefty here in CA with our limited selection. I'm also trying to encourage training. He can't even lock the slide back on his gun... so feeble haha. Could be a lost cause. You can lead the horse to water etc. We can't even get ammo here anyway. The local gun store south of San Francisco will only sell ONE box with a firearm purchase. The shortage here is getting worse, not better. Thanks for the reply TD.

Christopher B.

I have a compact 3.5" barrel Rock Island I'm gonna test fire soon. I'll try to remember to come back and post the results for you. One thing I will say for sure, DO NOT buy the compact. Get the full size. The disassembly on the 3.5" compact involves a paper clip being inserted into the recoil rod for disassembly. The recoil spring needs to be locked into place with a paper clip in order to take it apart. Reassembly is even worse. I almost had to take it to a gun store for help but, I eventually figured it out.

Dak in Back

Bf-109E-4 had 2x 20mm and 2x 7.92 (8mm Mauser) in the wings. Nothing in the prop hub.

Daniel Herb

Sweet find for the 1911 peeps out there
