Nice watch. I like the blue.

Hold Fast Joe

Wondered if you would review these. Mark from long Island watch puts out a lot of videos and seems like a really nice guy. I think this is a great option!

Shoutout Marc Frankel! Marc has capitalized on meeting specific demand on a budget. He understands his target market extremely well. We wish him much continued success.

Yes, I agree with you about 44mm watches. It cracks me up that the watch snobs think 44mm is too big. You know what other watch is 44mm? The Casio MDV-106! As I'm watching this WRV, I'm modding two of them. It's a Miyota quartz movememnt, it has a screw down crown, a screw down case back, a sea creature (Marlin) engraved on it, a date window with a positive display, and an adequate rotating bezel. It comes with a mineral crystal, so you can either make a crystal protector for it, or you can slap a sapphire crystal in it. I bought some sapphire crystals for this watch for $19 a piece. It comes in several differnt colors and there's a ton of info out there about modding these watches. There! I did the WRV for you...now just turn on your camera and it'll be done.

I’ve been watching Marc for a couple years. Haven’t pulled the trigger on an Islander. I appreciate your perspective on a brand I’ve been on the fence about. At that price I could go up a little and get much more or down a little and not lose too much, so I’ve passed so far.

I bought a strapcode jubilee bracelet from Marc for my SKX009J and I love it. The SKX watches were all originally about a $200 watch. First there was no hacking or hand winding. Second, mineral and not Sapphire. Mine just had a rubber strap but the Seiko bracelets weren’t great at this level. No drilled case. No ceramic inlay bezel. Marc did all the right things with the islanders and I think $300 is fair. I’m ready for a TNP Islander (Samurai or Sumo case) listed for $500 with a 30% coupon code.

Hey, I’m wearing that Pagani right now! I like your hands mod on it, but I’m also happy with the stock hands on this coloration. It’s my first automatic, and I’ve been wearing it daily for about a month, and I haven’t been disappointed. It’s a great watch for the price. I’ve enjoyed watching Marc’s videos, especially the “Watch and Learn” series. Like you said, he seems really genuine, which is rare among youtubers and even rarer among watch youtubers. Long Island Watch is basically the only dedicated watch channel I can stand. Oh, and that watch does look sweet. Great assessment.

Tacticaldoodle

That's funny, a friend was just educating me about this little thing. It's a great deal, compared to the increasingly expensive SKX's. I'm glad I never got one of them, I have the landshark/atlas and the non-hand wind drives me crazy, I just get real sick of having to spin it around to keep it alive.

Nice! I’ve been wondering if and when you would do an Islander review. You put me onto his channel. I’m liking the blue face Type A dial pilot watch he does.

hoplite ⚔️

I freaking love the MDV. Got the new green bezel version in the mail..

hoplite ⚔️

I’ve daydreamed about a TNP Islander before too!

Jeremy Corrao

That's my buddy Marc's company! Great watches!

Chris Lacher

I like the watch - which seems to be out of stock ... but there are other similar ones there. I too have liked the Island Watch and find him genuine and informative. Aty some point I'd like to get an Island Watch.

Chris Lacher

One feature I would like to see added to dive watches - a power reserve meter. Getting low on time isn't as bad as low on air, but it would be very disconcerting to have a timepiece stop working during a dive.

hoplite ⚔️

Agreed. I’d like to support his biz too.

Great WRV. Thanks Nutn. I’ve thought about the Flyboy before. Love the name and the clean looks. Glad to see they are still producing it.

RowdyRon

Absolutely gorgeous. Lumed ceramic bezel?! Wow, that's sweet. The color is sick, and the waffle pattern adds a nice touch. I never can seem to find the Deep Blue watches available/on sale at the same time. I really want a watch with a ceramic bezel some day. Thanks Nutn.

Charles New

It's time for a TNP edition watch.

Chris Lacher

Actually I was thinking mainly about automatics. There are several available with a power reserve meter that indicates the state of the spring. (None are dive watches that I know of.) It's fairly common for people to use a dive watch that isn't a daily driver. Nice to be able to look at the face (under water) to see whether it's wound enough. I agree, not an essential, but a nice feature to be able to check in an environment where unscrewing the crown is not recommended.

HappyFrancisMacomber

Been waiting for an islander review!!! A TNP edition collaboration would be awesome.

Andrettski

I get it, but my credit card can't take the abuse.

Andrettski

MORE green please. Knives, guns and watches.

Andrettski

Whoa, Nutn using the 'Peppermint Psaki' "I'll circle back to that" reference. Nice lookin' Islanders. My watch budget is tapped out right now. Too many new guns and knives.

Andrettski

Never been a bracelet fan. It grabs arm hair, ouch! Neoprene or rubber bro.

Bravo

Hey nutn I think a lot of tnp’rs have slightly larger than avg wrist size because, (and I’m just spitballing here) maybe tnp’rs are more blue collar workers and just built bigger than most (not all) desk workers. No offence if you are an accountant and a TNP guy but I think maybe could be part of it 🤷‍♂️. What do you think?

Bravo

The hands are a “second base hit” … that would be a double 😂 lovin the WRV keep em commin!

The Nutnfancy Project

Such a great watch, that version like many of them is long gone. Wish they'd keep making it.

The Nutnfancy Project

You're welcome RR, great to hear from you. My biggest frustration as a watch reviewer is most of these aren't avail. when the video posts!

The Nutnfancy Project

Charles! It is on the list. Giving the CCs a rest after the special edition Spydercos.

The Nutnfancy Project

Copy that. Glad you're here as always Andrettski. I got more adventures and philosophy vids coming up to give the CCs a rest a bit. Oh yeah and some crappy non rec'd stuff too.

The Nutnfancy Project

That's a fresh take. LMK if that's true guys. I have been doing more smaller watches b. I thought they were smaller wrists out here.

Bravo

I have said before but I have a 7 1/4 wrist but just prefer the smaller watches on the wrist. I just like the more classic look. Like back in the 50s small watches were really popular. And for analog watches the biggest I like to go is about 45, my citizen Avion chrono. Also check out the Casio MTP-S120 next to no reviews on it. It’s a solar powered field watch and I’m really liking it (aftermarket bands are a MUST however)

Daniel Herb

Nutn, when you tape your watch hands what kinds of tape do you use??

Tacticaldoodle

Gun guys aren't really the same as watch literati, so they don't have that same sense of "balance, panache, style, FLAIR" that those fashionistas do. Most all watch guys I've talked to to IRL have been ambivalent about size, or matching their watch with their belt/shoes/pants/ensemble. Size is kind of the same, if you're wearing it because you like seeing it when you look down, that's the end of it. Style hounds are always acutely aware of how they look to others, the watch is part of their branding so it has to pull off certain looks. I've never had anyone point out their IRL watch size and its ratio to their wrist for anything other than fitting it under sleeves. I don't even know what good proportions are, anyways. It's not like black stripes are slimming to the wrist, anyway!

Downtrodden

I’m a CPA and I know a few others who would likely not fit into the stereotype. If you look at the size of the classic standards (Rolex, Patek, Cartier, etc) hardly any of them are over 39mm. Picking a watch in a boardroom situation is a reflection of the kind of person you are. Do you want a client to be impressed by the size and cost of your hardware or do you want to show them you have an appreciation for the classics and have modesty and respect? Are you the boss or do you provide good service? My SKX on a jubilee bracelet works 98% of the time. Wearing a Submariner or Daytona in public is kind of like open carrying a Colt Python. It may be badass to you but it will attract the wrong attention.

CincinnatiDan (Ohio)

Nice review Nut’n. That watch did have awesome lume set, even the bezel numbers… something my Omega Planet Ocean does not have even at 10X the cost. Could you mod the hands by ‘brushing’ the shiny metal to give it a duller finish?

The Nutnfancy Project

Very thin high quality 3M automotive tape. I got it at Amazon, works xlnt I was trying to find the link for you but couldn't see it. Hope they still have it. Also a auto body supply shop should carry it. You can use electrical tape too.

The Nutnfancy Project

I don't think so. The hands are very delicate easy to bend. All are stamped out of aluminum it seems. Paint's the best way I've found. I try a couple of lume paints btw and they were a disaster.

Bought my dad a Deep Blue Master 1000 for Christmas this year. Deep Blue had them on clearance for $99.

Hey Nutn! Really liking your WRVs. I've been into watches for probably the past five or six years. I'm definitely one of your viewers who appreciates the smaller sized watches. For context I'm roughly 6'1, 250 pounds (former Marine and currently studying to become an accountant) with a 7-1/4 inch wrist and my collection as far as watch diameter goes from an old 34mm Seiko (my dad gifted me his old watch for my birthday when I was younger) to a 43 - 44mm Seiko Samurai. However, I find myself appreciating and preferring the smaller sizes. My sweet spot is definitely around 38mm - 40mm, but I do have a few 42mm divers that I love and wear regularly like the Marathon GSAR, the smaller auto version of the Marathon that you recently reviewed that I also bought from Marc at Long Island watch last year. Anyway, I really appreciate the time and work you put into your videos. It really reflects in your content.

William H

The Islander is a really nice looking watch.

Mark seems like a super-smart guy that apparently came from the aerospace engineering community. These are fantastic watches and well worth the $. Keep the WRVs comin'
