Another by request video designed for new shooters! In attendance and representing the female shooter is Mrs Nutnfancy too. I talk about safety basics which are paramount to anytime you handle or decide to carry a pistol. Then you'll see me discuss dry firing, stance, grip, sight alignment, breath control, arm postioning, trigger press, follow up, consistency, and more. This is all kept simple and easy to understand. This isn't designed to turn you into a Tier 1 Operator...maybe Tier 4. It's really just aimed at getting you to get ALL your shots in the circles drawn and give you confidence in your pistol shooting progression.

Knowledge is power and good knowledge is monumental and I know I’m not very proficient with my pistols and a vid like this is a great even though I’ve grown up with firearms but mainly rifles & shotguns and here and there a 22lr pistol using subs to clean out mice in a grain bin

David and Elizabeth

All sound advice that's fundamentally solid. Thanks, Professor Nutn! Class dismissed!!! 👨‍🎓👩🏼‍🎓 ❤❤❤

Have been tuned in since 2014, and I keep getting so much value out of every video. Live CA, so fml. But this was a great refresh for me. Thanks for helping us keep our families safe. Much love Keanu

David Gaines

This is gonna be awesome! Even for us experienced shooters it’s always good to go back to the basics and also see what works for others.

Todd Strelka

Wow, This is great. I still consider myself to be a newb. Been ten years carrying concealed already. Always love to learn more.

I had a terrible time with my P365 not staying open on the last round. I never had this problems with my Glocks. I started to think it was the gun’s problem. Finally, I realized it was my grip. Now I curl my right thumb over the top of my left - problem solved. I was brushing the slide release with my right thumb and didn’t notice. This would keep the P365 from staying open. I also noticed that adjusting my thumb that way gave me a smoother, more straight back trigger pull. I’m cross dominant too. So, try to be ambidextrous. I make a point to shoot left handed for at least a mag or two when I train. Being cross dominant really helps when you shoot a long gun ambidextrous - kinda makes it easy.

Paul Kwiatkowski

My better half listens to advice from everybody but me.

Hold Fast Joe

Good video! Great seeing the Mrs instead of an operator like jardene! For indoor airsoft or some kind of laser setup is cool for practice! Also grip trainers never hurt but they can be addicting. I've broken a few haha

Dang I wish this would have come out 9 yrs ago when I turned 21 n bought my first handgun lol. Wouldn’t of struggled as much in the beginning but hard times builds strength ! Great vid Nutn!!

Lon N

I always was cross dominant eyed until cataract surgery, I got corrective lenses implanted that fixed my near sightedness & the surgeon implanted a slightly further focused lens in the right eye, making it dominant. Dead on right on relaxing - a handgun is no more dangerous than a pair of pliers unless the muzzle is pointed at you. The sole thing you did not cover that I think is important is placement of the pad on your trigger finger - at the moment of sear release your finger should be pulling straight rearward on the trigger. Thanks Nutn and Mrs Nutn..good stuff. (Edit) Try some old school dryfire - with a penny balanced on the front sight.

Nutn, thank you Sir for another great video Nutnfancy style. Thank you also to Mrs. Nutnfancy, always a pleasure to see TD or Mrs. involved. Nutn, do you shoot with one eye or both eyes open?

IndianaBen

Applause deserved for talking about stance so plainly. Great minds think alike. Pat McNamara has a great short and sweet vid where he says about stance/footing, “Go ahead and stand up… You’re probably right.” Lol. I believe in his bio he was the sergeant major in charge of Delta marksmanship training at one point? Which makes him about the most qualified pistol instructor on the planet. If he says don’t overthink it, don’t overthink it. https://youtu.be/1g2-46CxSLA

Phillip Robinette McKracken

On breathing, I always let, but not push all the breath out. Just like....that... Then at around heartbeat number 3 or so, the round gets sent. Then I go to the range :)

Racing Psychosis

Lucas @ T.Rex Arms was just talking about youtubers and instagram trainers and how most of them cannot shoot well on his Twitch stream. He kind of threw out a challenge to you and Mr. Gunsngear to a shoot off and doing what he calls a one take on shooting. That would probably be fun to see. I know what he means about some of these people doing this are not what you think they really are. I will say he certainly appears to be fast and accurate and that certainly takes time, money, effort, and practice.

Lee Harrell [W5GCF]

Great video! Perfect for my wife and children! What gloves are you wearing?

The Nutnfancy Project

THank you Anthony and I SHOULD have done this a long time ago. I know by now your a combat pistol expert!

The Nutnfancy Project

"“Go ahead and stand up… You’re probably right.” Exactly. That's what I wanted to impart head. KISS principle, have a stable stance, rinse, repeat!

The Nutnfancy Project

"..and that certainly takes time, money, effort, and practice. " Yep it does. I'm not the fastest gun but I can match most in accuracy. I've never heard of TRex but may look him up. Thanks as always RP!

IndianaBen

KISS is right. Comfortable. Stable. Consistent.

Jonathan-James

Very much enjoyed the video. I was giving an individual some instruction on firearms handling and marksmanship just this last weekend. Thanks for the thurough breakdown of your instruction method. Got a few nuggets for the tool box.

Andrettski

Thanks you two, much appreciated the Nutn fam techniques. I think I might be 'too much forward lean guy', slightly I think. Might ask my wife to tape me shooting some from the side then I can watch myself. I already know my trigger and breathing discipline needs a lot of work.

Andrettski

I commented in an earlier vid about maybe a TNP weekend. A pistol day tutorial followed by a rifle day. I know, I'm dreamin'. I don't own a .22 pistol but I could just find a really good used one for cheap for the practice.

Jeremy doblinger

Sweet purple shooting glasses bro!!! Looking good

Christopher Davis

Great video, Nutn. Even for the experienced shooter, it’s always good to occasionally revisit the fundamentals of firearm safety!

John

Good video thanks, will use as intro for new shooters.

Joshua Lund

Good video for practice tips

hoplite ⚔️

Great suggestion on the penny! Will try that.

hoplite ⚔️

I bet looking at a video would be extremely insightful. Top athletes do that.

hoplite ⚔️

It’s nice to see how consistent FA people are in safety.

Dawson Rabb

Loooooooong time pistol shooter here. This advice is SOLID! I loved the video Nutn. I always have something to learn and I appreciate the vid!

Harold Galen McPheron

I've got small hands and I grip the pistol like you do, been doing that since the late 70's, and I'm pretty accurate...

Alex Dodez

Thanks for another awesome video, nutnfancy.

Bruce Andrews

Do not give TRex much credence. I have seen him flag his camera person with a loaded gun repeated times in his run and gun videos. Yeah he can shoot quickly in his drills. How many times are you going to be suited up with a 3 gun specific holster and a perfectly adjusted two point sling with a SBR carbine? As a RSO I watch him with gun safety in mind and am not impressed. I know he has an almost unlimited budget for night vision gear. Watch the shadow of the camera person if you do not believe me.

Racing Psychosis

I don't follow the kid much. But I do like the holsters his company has made. I know one thing he seriously offends a lot of butt hurt trainers and RSO's out there that cannot shoot and really are not that good at training people either. Seen that with my own eyes a number of times.

The Nutnfancy Project

Thank you Dawson! All the commenters here will be shown in scrolling in the next GRV I edit, thanks for the support.

hoplite ⚔️

Love this video. Thank you for doing it. Plan on watching many more times and integrating at the range. We salute you sir!

Elijah Ballard

I have shot guns my whole life and I am a terrible shot with my pistol! I will definitely be using your advice Nutn!
