It's regarded online as one of the if not THE best AR pattern shotgun out there. At least by a lot of reviewers.

The Typhoon F12 sure comes across impressive with its highly quality camo CeraKote finishes and quality components. Maybe it's time to get to the bottom of this Typhoon in TNP. I'll chart a truthful course as always. Made in Turkey just like some good and not-so-good shotguns, the F12 is expensive at around $1000. You can buy a lot of proven shotguns for that amount, like the JM Pro 940 (below).

For that price tthe F12 should be a star performer in terms of SAWC, reliability, ergos, ease of use (and gas adjustment!) and features. Does it deliver?

Good distraction from the Ukraine news. Thanks Nutn!

Great review as always. I'll just stick with my 930.

A gun company could make a killing if they designed a magazine for these 12 gauges with a follower that locked at the bottom so the mags could be left loaded without spring tension and when you were ready to use them all you have to do is push a button to disengage the follower lock and the magazine would work as normal. The button could even be an ar-15 style ping pong paddle.

Excellent review. I love me some shotguns! I was happy to watch this, even though this one didn't fare well. I only own pumps now. Had a Mossy 930SPX, however it wouldn't run light loads at all. Maybe a 1301 or an M4 would work. Thanks Nutn.

nice motorcycle in the background, Yoshi just released an exhaust for that crf300.

Hold Fast Joe

It looks great! I can see why it sells!

Downtrodden

“Turkey!” Every shotgun review needs some TD audio but maybe it was best not for a thumbs down review.

Tom

Not me - give me a Mossberg or Remington anyday! Thanks Nutnfancy!

Jarrod Hessel

I’m not sold on the advantages of a mag fed shotgun. From everything I’ve seen, semi-autos in general tend to be picky about ammo as well. However, as I only have experience with pumps, I can’t attest to that. Either way, I guess I’m just a fudd that prefers a solid pump shotgun over any other.

I got the Panzer AR12 Pro a few years back and yes, it is HEAVY, but it's just a range toy for me and my bros. The 2 times I've left it at home they go all nuts on me for not bringing it. Everyone loves shooting it. Mine has cycled everything except 3" shells(only tried 1 brand of 3")and no issues from leaving the mags loaded for months at a time. I paid $449 for it. Got a SXP Defender for HD. Paid $195 for it.

Patrick Brichta

Great way to wake up! I just have a soft place for shotguns, they're just so dang fun. Thanks for the great video Nutn! Any chance of reviewing the Beretta 1301 tactical?

Andrew H

No plans on getting any mag-fed shotty, but that Cerakote job (or whatever coating) is wicked cool. I'd like to have something like on an AR or AK.

Alex Dodez

I'm in the market for a shotgun for home defense. A Mossberg 590 variation is winning out right now with me. Although the Kel-Tec KSG is just so enticing for it's round capacity and compactness. This gun just looks like a video game gun to me. And a 22 minute review from Nutnfancy??? Did I wake up in a different world this morning?...LOL

Bernal

Got the lead out last Friday. The Mosberg Maverick 88 ran flawlessly- again!

Casey Jones

Ashame, the gun is sexy. I think the review is fair. Some people may have good experiences with the gun but it’s the luck of the draw

My philosophy of use on shotguns has evolved away from being the primary home defense system in favor of the AR15 rifle platform due to better ergonomics, less recoil (especially if my wife has to take over the fight), lighter weight ammo, and having more servings of medicine on board in case you need to serve a rowdy group. Plus, the 5.56 penetrates fewer layers of sheetrock than buckshot or slugs, so it is safer on overpenetration risk. I see shotguns now in two roles: recreation (3-gun, 5-stand, sporting clays, etc) and hunting. It is a good utility player from a survival perspective due to it's flexibility with a wide variety of loads. Like Jarrod's comment above, I don't buy into the mag-fed shotgun fad, whether pump or auto. Simple and proven is good. If you need a mag fed weapon for an engagement, you should have brought a rifle to the fight. If I were starting from scratch, I would buy the Mossberg JM 940, as mentioned by Nutn. My oldest son has one, and it is excellent. For Alex, if you are looking at a Mossberg 590, be sure to consider the new 590 S which is engineered to feed the short shells, as well as 2 3/4" and 3" with no changes or adjustments to the gun. That gives you an easy option for less recoil and more rounds on board. I used to have a Maverick 88 and a 590, both were rock solid, but I traded those towards a pair of Remington 1187s about 15 years ago, one in 12 gauge and one in 20 gauge. The 20 is for my wife and children, as well as teaching youth to shoot. I have since upgraded the 12 gauge with a lightweight Nordic mag extension tube and clamp, Speedfeed pistol grip stock, Nordic knurled charging handle, and a flat dark earth Cerakote job. My kids all call it the Frankenstein gun, but it runs flawlessly with low-base bird, buckshot, and slugs. It is one of the top two guns in the safe that are mentioned by the kids in terms of inheritance interest. Hopefully that will be a long way off!

You know that's why I'm a sub to TNP Nutn, I'm always going for value for the best deals out there.

I don't know what to say bruh......lol....

Joshua Pulliam

I’ll pass. Another HD shotgun is so low on my firearm priorities list anyway. And almost all of these AR shotguns don’t appeal to me. My next shotgun will either be a Browning A-5 or a Mossberg Michulek.

kylenor

My local gun store has a couple of these. They aren't moving. Nutn, are you going to review the IWI TS12?

rjw

Not a fan of the shotgun but i love the hat.

maxmfs

Not my cup of tea. Buy a Benelli M4 or a Beretta 1301 (would love to see Nut’n review that) if you want a semiauto. Otherwise, get a tuned pre-bankruptcy 870, and you’ll be good to go.

CDK

I worked at a place where we sold those. When they first came out they were requiring 250 round break in before they’d look at reliability issues. I agree with everything, they look pretty cool but otherwise complete dumpster fires.

Matt Elliott

I picked up a Stoeger M3500 this Fall after watching your M3000 review. My POU was hunting and a do everything shotgun. I read or heard somewhere that it also needed a break-in period but it has worked flawlessly since day one. From 2 3/4 to 3.5” it eats everything and just works. The guys I shoot with all shoot Benelli’s and they are blown away with how well the gun shoots. I remind them every time there gun jams that I got mine for less than half price of their Black Eagles and Vinci‘s. I also have an 870 tactical but I want a Beretta 1301 for around the house. Hint, hint, for an up coming review…. Here in Canada we can’t even get most of the guns you review but I still love everything you do in the project. Thank you and please keep up the great work!

Thanks Nutn for your consumer advocacy. I see rigs like this at my LGS and have always wondered if they just look cool but would fail to be truly reliable. Makes me want a 930 even more. Cheers to TNPP!

Typhoon catches the lawn dart of truth right in the forehead. Another excellent grv . Thanks Nutn.

whiskey papa

Thanks Nutn, more money saved! (lol)

Kyle Fiss

I don't know of any mag shotgun worth the risk.

Paul Kwiatkowski

Its the 20” barrel VR-60 FDE for my $600. Yes the mags deform the shells over time.

isaac

What type of watch is nutn wearing it looks good

The Nutnfancy Project

Roger that and thanks for the info. From this point on I will call out any mfr that demands a break in period: they need to do that, not the customer. Also it's a carte blanche way to get out of reliability problems. They'll say "Well you just didn't 'break it in" right"

The Nutnfancy Project

So good to hear that Matt and thanks. The M3000 Stoeger is a real winner as you've also found out. I bought that one and it ain't going nowhere. So fun to humble the Benellis with it. I would like to review the 1301. Maybe my Vursan 2000 because it's close. Thanks for you support here.

Joshua Mount

If you bought this instead of a Berreta 1301 I feel bad for you. They are quite reliable and are about the same price. I'm partial to pump shotguns and I still believe they are the most reliable and reliable ones like the 870 and the 500/590/88 were like 200-350 dollars. You should of bought like 3 when you had the chance. I always thought AR pattern shotguns were janky. Stick to what works.

Lee Harrell [W5GCF]

Thanks for the recognition and thank you for all you do!

Nathan Simms aka Darkpriest

thanks for the shout out. I've never liked shotguns, I'm small and the recoil sucks. I just think in 2022 there are better firearms for every POU that a shotgun covers.

Any anti tank reviews, looks like us alaskans may need some soon

Chris carr

Air Force up here looks like a shook up bees nest. Alaskans are preparing for a fight, and while this dumb ass administration spreads our troops thin. Hug your loved ones tonight. What’s happening in Ukraine can very well happen here

FN SLP MKI has upgraded to a single universal piston for its gas system.

Living in Seward, highly doubt anything is coming state side.

Chris carr

Normally I doubt it too but when pee pads and knee pads are treating putin like an 8th grader out of line everyone sees the incompetence in our administration and wonder if putin will use that as a chance to take advantage. Wasilla here long time tnp’r and civilian sheepdog. Hello neighbor.

I'm still rocking my good old 870 with a mag tube extension making it a 7+1 with 00 Buck. Then I put an Olight Odin just forwarded of the barrel nut this is my home defense gun of choice. I tend to always store it with an empty chamber, so if and when I ever have to pull it out. The first thing Mr bad guy hears is that infamous pump racking. It's been serving me well for over ten years although the light has changed on it a couple times over the year's. I do have to say this Odin is by far the best weapon light I've used yet it's awesome. With my house totally blacked out it flood's my entire living room and kitchen area like daylight highly recommend.

My FN-SLP needed loctite, stock and sight rail came loose.
