In helmet-during-ride of the Nutnfancy Motorcycle Safety Concept (NMSC, yep another acronym!). Understanding these two concepts might change the way your ride and evaluate risk. I have you look at each riding situation and rate the level accordingly.  This is a highly individualistic system base on your experience, proficiency, familiarity with your motorcycle, traffic, road conditions, lighting, weather, and more.

I rode a silly single cylinder 200lb British bike for nearly a year. I think my risk work numbers were at least a 5/5. I sucked at riding. Quit after my first summer. I love the videos and enjoy checking out bikes. When I get a motorcycle behind me driving my car I'll hug the right curb and as they pass I'll let off the gas a bit so they get around faster.

Oh my. This is at the top of my mind lately. My next door neighbor got hit by a car a month ago and they had to amputate his left foot below the knee.

I'm not a rider but I enjoy the moto content.

I really wanted to get into riding but the Safety Course showed me I really don't have the right temperament to ride. That and I failed the test. Even a Trike takes a Motorcycle endorsement in my state.

Before even watching the video my first thought was practice, practice, practice. After watching the video, my thought was, “Sean is freaking solid!” When you made the pass he was ready to rock. I don’t have a normal commute anymore but I still commit to frequent riding, both dirt and asphalt. You’re right, it’s a lifestyle. Be present because laziness has consequences.

like I said earlier my neighbor lost his foot, I must admit it kept the new t7 quiet for a while. it is a risk. best lesson I can tell people is don't follow cars too close. I feel like a through bred ready to haul ass. but following too close makes it hard for cars to see you. I also cover the front brake lever if I see a car that can pull in front of me. I practice hard stops too. I have noticed the front brake can handle alot more braking once the bike has transferred its weight forward. not so much if you just stab the front brake. I also plan my route and take the way I feel is safest. at the end of the day, I could choose not to ride, but wouldn't that be like already having a debilitating injury already?

Was this an emergency video stop?

Timing of this video is good for me since my truck has been in the shop for repairs. Currently riding a dual sport Honda CRF 300l. Using my bike as primary mode of transportation gets me in higher risk use. Driving on freeway during busy commute hours or getting rain when roads are still slick. One of your previous comments in another video about trying to own the one perfect bike made sense to me. Starting to plan owning a 2nd bike instead of changing bikes. Thanks for the motor cycle video.

The Nutnfancy Project

That's awful, wish he could have see this first. I hope you're doing well Steve

The Nutnfancy Project

Sorry to hear that. But maybe that's the right call. Better safe I'd say. Crazy a trike takes an endorsement there.

The Nutnfancy Project

Great comment and thanks. I like your idea of a 2nd bike. And riding all the time makes you good and much safer. I wouldn't worry too much about interstate: keep a bubble around you and good SA and you should be fine.

Nutn, if you ever want to check out an outstanding and high value radar detector, the Uniden R7 will not disappoint. I’ve ran some budget radar detectors from Beltronics for years, but sprang for the R7 a year ago. The detection range is at least 3x as far, and the directional arrows telling you where the threat is coming from is a game changer. No, I do not need a review to feel good about this purchase… (haha) but seriously, I wanted to make the recommendation.

Like the Philosophy. Most of my riding been in the city. Have to admit riding is not fun in cities.
