It's not the same super lightweight Aegis that we knew before, but it's good. Here we look at the Gen 2 Aegis, now much stronger but it's gained a bit of weight in the process.  The features and colors are good: cryo-treated D2 steel, super fast, good handle and blade shape. The tanto version of the new Aegis AT-XR is tantalizing; check out that red version! The blade steel proved sharp and durable in my cardboard cutting testing.

SOG Aegis AT-XR: Strength in the Numbers

This knife is like me. I've gotten stronger the older I get. But I've also put on more weight.

I don't think Lt. Colonel likes when I give info about deals on knives when it's not on bladehq, but a popular site(won't say who) has some of the SOG Aegis for $39.99 if anyone is interested.

The red Casio is cool! Wish it came stock with those solid white hands I think they would've sold like crazy

Nutn, you've been holding out on us! Didn't know you had any Primary Arms stuff. When will you be reviewing that Primary Arms prism sight? Been thinking about getting a PA prism sight. Would be awesome to hear your take on it and the ACSS reticle.

This is weird. I'm waiting for the Altair XR because I don't own a SOG knife. So i've been looking into something to pick up in the mean time. Spent all night at work watching videos on the different variations. Then BAM here;s this video.

Lee

I'm interested!

Thanks Nutn. From all of your circa 2012-2013 SOG reviews I became a big SOG fan to the point where I have bought several discontinued knives just to have. The original Aegis Mini is my favorite SOG of all time. I was gifted the “Nutnfancy” ed. Blue Flash AT and love it, but one other fantastic new SOG is the Blade HQ special ed. Terminus XR in green G10. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite blades. Thanks again. -Sharkey

REview is done on it! I will try to post it soon for ya. A tad heavy but dang, great clarity and functionality. Also very tough. Link is above!

Oh good timing, I like that! I do like like the newer SOGs, Flash AT might be my fave full size one.

The Nutnfancy Project

Great to hear Sharkey. I too love that Mini Aegis, so lightweight and easy to carry; a fave backpacking blade of mine. The blue Flash AT as you note is also a favorite. You have great taste!

Nate Berglund

Sweet! Looking forward to it. I have two Primary Arms scopes and have been impressed with the clarity.

Still have my sog flashes that I bought off your review all those years ago. Never getting rid of them. Love the blade shape. So useful for edc tasks. Kind of reminiscent of the Benchmade reflex.

This kinda felt like an older school knife review, listening and watching it. I dunno if anyone else got it, but just a hint nostalgic. And that's a good thing.

Andrettski

All good Nutn, most of us are on the 'Best Bang for Yer Buck' wagon, and I know you look for that too.

Love SOG blades! Have some from back in the day. Bought redesigned Flash AT in urban gray when it 1st came out & love it. Got new Aegis in Tan & Blaze Orange & one knifecenter exclusive in Orange with tan accents. Terminus rounds out SOG collection. Really like the new direction, though also mourn passing of the classics.
