CatNap plush from Poppy Playtime WIP 2: Body (Patreon)

ENGLISH/ESPAÑOL
Hello everybunny! It's time for another CatNap WIP. Today we will talk about how we made the body.
At first, the plush was designed to have a fixed pose. It was going to be sitting down, slightly leaning to the side, like a horror movie plush that appears at the corner of a room hahahaFor that, we worked on a first pattern that kept the pose they told us, and we added darts to the arms and body to give them a better shape. But just when we were about to make the final body, they sent us new references and info about the design, and we realised that their intention was that CatNap was a floppy plush, like those typical teddy bears for kids, that can sit down and their arms and legs are rather empty and soft, so they stand up when you hold them. So we asked MOB about it. We actually sent them photos showing the difference between makig it with a fixed pose or posable/floppy. The fixed pose would be the exact same pose as the first reference they sent us, detailing the folds and such. But the floppy was able to pose, stand up, sit, lay down... Like a kids plush.
And, as we suspected, they liked the idea of making the plush floppy. We usually prefer plushies with fixed poses because they allow us to be more perfectionists with details and poses, but for this plush, the perfect option was having floppy arms and legs.
Here are some photos of the tests we did and another photo we found extremely creepy and cool hahaha
Finally, we also want to comment a bit about the tail and zipper. For the tail, they wanted it to be SUPER LONG. Like, it was way longer than the plush itself. They also wanted it to be floppy, but not emprty. So we decided to use quilt batting. It would give the tail some volume while keeping the floppiness. It took so long to sew hahahaThe zipper was going to be embroidered at first, just decorative. But with every new references and specially when they told us that the plush would appear in videos, we decided to make it a real zipper. It was difficult to find a zipper in those colors and size, but it looks so good! Also, we added a fake pocket inside so if you unzip the plush, stuffing won't come out and it would be a black void. We did everything to give the plush as many spooky details as possible!
In the next WIP we will comment the resin pieces we did for the plush. Without doubt, the biggest challenge of this plush x_x
----ESPAÑOL----
Hello everybunny!
