Friedman's invocation of Einstein as an argument for a free enterprise system is strange too. Einstein was a socialist. His early work was facilitated by a public sector job (patent clerk). His research was made possible by public expenditures as well.

Someone needs to put this on Reddit and make it a viral meme. "Move to higher ground ..." right, you use your Yang Bucks to build a paper house. Or, go to polymer based currency so your Yang Bucks can be used to raise your house foundations a few metres. All you need to do so is polymer Yang notes with denominations of around 0.00001 dollars, and a crane, and some glue.

Milton Friedman is, I think objectively, one of the most evil people to have lived in the 20th Century. His evil was not banal.

@54:10 the argument against the strong Yang sentiment is simple: a Job Guarantee program is better for the economy as whole, PAYS BETTER WAGE! (a living wage), is better for society and healthier for the individual (less social isolation, less depression, more social cohesion, even for introverts). Work done for a job guarantee program can be aligned with the interest and skills of the person. You just individualise the work agreement with the (future) JG department. Any social good purpose work is acceptable, it could be painting murals, composing music (for free copyleft public sharing), the world of freedom in work with a JG program is endless. Endless. The core of the problem of Andrew Yang is total lack of imagination, and yes, defeatism. It's not only incredibly bad, it is fascinating.

I never quite realized how incredibly stupid Andrew Yang is. Surely, he cannot possibly be serious about "moving people to higher ground".

Joel Smith

Maybe he will say he meant higher moral ground to cover his incompetence
