Petri Heino

Hello Alex! I’m your big fan. I love every single tunes and lessons you do for us. Sorry my bad english. I make a lot of mistakes when I’m playing guitar and writing in english. Your lessons are very important for me. I’ll promise to do my best. I wish everybody best greetings from Finland!

Alex Farran Guitar

Thank you for the kind words Petri, that really means a lot! I'm so glad you enjoy the lessons my friend.. I'm very glad to have you here with us. 🙏🏻 And your English is excellent!.. so much better than my Finnish 😉

MarkF

Alex this lesson is ridiculous so rich in content and useful in practical application the only thing missing is you singing it too!!??

George Nichols

Hey Alex im stopping lessons for about a month will be back.Trying to straighten out some issues with paypal and going on a trip for two weeks to Greece in April.

Alex Farran Guitar

No problem mate, enjoy your trip to Greece! See you on the other side 🍻

Julian Gross

Nachocaster sounding great as always

Julian Gross

Maybe sometime for us Patreon Farran-ites you could do a quick video walking through the gear/mixing chain. I don’t know what the ox box is or the final mix board or whatever. The tone is great and I’d love to build a little better understanding 🙏🏼

Alex Farran Guitar

That’s a good idea Julian, I’ll definitely do that very soon 🍻

Jay Solman

CURTIS is the Man! I just love Curtis Mayfield's playing. I was working on "Think" from Superfly recently and "I'm Loving Nothing", have not played this one in some time. This lesson is great and a reminder to dive back in - thanks Alex!

Christoph Martiny

Hi Alex, this is brilliant again and so tastefull!! The only issue with your lessons is keeping the pace as you publish so much new stuff in such a short time. Homework is piling up😀😀

Mark Gavin

I first heard this by Sonny and Brownie. Great song - look forward to learning it.

Daniel Wiener

These lessons are truly amazing. I couldn’t help but join your Patreon. So worth it.

Roger Cambor

very nice- enjoyed this lesson thoroughly- saw Curtis M perform live back in the day. Great song study!

Alex Farran Guitar

Thanks Roger! Man, I’d have loved to have seen him live! Bet that was magic 👌🏻

Alex Farran Guitar

Ah thank you Daniel, that really means a lot. Glad to have you here buddy 🙏🏻

Alex Farran Guitar

Never heard that before, but just checked it out.. that’s a cool version too! Very different! 🤠

Alex Farran Guitar

Nice one Jay, ah yes “Think” has some really nice playing for sure! 👌🏻

Mark Gavin

When I saw Lloyd Spiegel (fantastic Australian blues guitarist) he told the story of when, aged 16 he came to the US to get immersed in blues, he actually lived with legendary Brownie McGhee.

Wayne America

The part in your video about essential pentatonic tricks is really useful. Let me review your previous lessons on American soul and Motown soul, as you recommended.

Alex Farran Guitar

I’m glad you found that interesting Wayne. Yes, definitely worth going over those two lessons also 👍🏻

Nick L

Alex, all of your blues/soul/motown/Americana lessons are amazing. Please keep them coming! I have a technical question. I understand if you are not able to answer it. The GP file for this lesson (5.8MB) is larger than the files in previous lessons. Is there any way to reduce the file size? I like to import the MP3 and GP files to SoundSlice to practice but this GP file is too large.

Guy Roberts

Great video Alex, Reminds me of my days n the”Caitlin Circuit” in Philly, Jersey, Delaware, etc. You’ve nailed the sounds and I’m having a ball learning your whys and wherefores. Makes a huge difference when you understand what you’re doing. In a couple of hours with this video, been able to substantially expand my range and understanding. Great program you’ve got!

Guy Roberts

That’s the CHITLIN circuit.

Alex Farran Guitar

Thanks Guy, really glad you’re finding the lessons useful! So happy to hear this! 🙏🏻🍻

Alex Farran Guitar

Hmm, I’m thinking it must depend on the size of the audio file I embed in the guitar pro file. I’ll see if I can compress it any lower but it may hinder the audio quality a tad.

Joseph Corso

Such a powerful and simply explained bunch of incredible information in this lesson, Thank you

David

Another gem. Thanks again Alex.

tyler taube

Thanks for producing the “essential roadmap” material. I’m sure it takes you some extra time but I print those types of things out and keep them in a notebook because it makes practicing easier.

Todd Stupnik

I am so thankful that I found your Patreon… pound for pound the best there is!

Gert De Groof

Thought I’d quickly catch up on this one, don’t want to fall to far behind later today. Thanks for the sus2/sus4 tip, really useful. Love these fancy chordal jams. Thanks Alex. Little busy at work lately, tonight we’ll be recording/broadcasting a Rufus Wainwright concert…I really can’t complain about my job 😀. Take care man

Alex Farran Guitar

Haha no probs Gert, just take on as much as you can, whenever you get the time.. no rush! Oh man, that is a cool job for sure, wow! Enjoy it buddy! 🙏🏻

Ronnie Wright

Thanks Alex, so enjoying working thru this. Bought a monk trem unit, any chance you could share your setting for the vid - new to trems in general, haven't quite dialed it in yet. Cheers

David Lockwood

Very nice playing Alex. Must come back to this as soon as I can turn around. Cool!!

Jerome Oks

I really like your 4 bar intro. I went through a bunch of different versions of "People Get Ready" . The greatest version in my opinion is Aretha's Franklin's from the Lady Soul Album. Although I have heard it countless times, I had never listened to it. The vocal intro "I believe, I believe, I do believe" left me floored.

Greg F Germano

Great lesson and choral breakdown, and I especially like the second half of the lesson about mapping out the whole fretboard with triads and pentatonics - great way to practice all of these fundamentals

Steve

really great lesson and actually my first one to start with after The Rain Song which I explored last year 👌🏽

Tom

So I am a new member. My wife came by my office today and poked her head in and said "that cat has impeccable taste! " I totally agree!!! Thank you so much Alex.
