A beautiful and inspiring video on just how tightly connected emotion and imagination are with music and the process of composition. Angelo talks us through his experience of writing "Laura Palmer's Theme" from Twin Peaks, with David Lynch beside him. Together they turn words and imagery into a stunningly evocative and moody piece of art.

This is the kind of thing that’s hardest to teach, as it isn’t exactly quantifiable. In my opinion, learning to connect emotionally with music happens through osmosis: from listening to a vast range of music in every style and mood, to learning to play hundreds of songs across those same styles and moods. By understanding how those who came before us translated their feelings into music, we also learn how to speak the language ourselves.

Hi Alex, Ron here, I went to high school with David Lynch. I did the music for the grandmother moved to LA with him from Philadelphia. A close friend that I talked to just before his exit. Just a note of trivia, as the big wheel turns.

That’s amazing…Twin peaks aired when I was a little kid, don’t remember how old, but it left a huge impression on me. I mainly remember the music for some reason.

Yes, beautiful and interesting. I was hooked on Twin Peaks when it came out (shout out to Log Lady) and I do find this fascinating, the way these guys worked together, and the music they produced. Very very interesting! Thanks for sharing Alex.
