Andile

Hi, Alex, I enjoyed this lesson. The only problem I never heard this tune. I liked when you used triads because someone is teaching me how to use triads to navigate jazz standards, this is a study that fascinates me at the moment because I also want to know how to navigate the fretboard. The real book used very difficult chords for beginners to understand and I always wish for someone to demystify all the chords standards in Real Book and show improvisation using triads. Thanks.

Thanks Andile, glad you enjoyed the lesson.. this is definitely a good tune to check out.. I’d recommend listening to as many versions as you can in order to really get to know it. Yes, the Real book has never been a resource I’ve been particularly fond of.. some of the chord choices are a bit odd to say the least. Tell me a favourite standard of yours and I’ll make sure to add it to the list if it’s not already on there 👌🏻

Marty Wisott

Wow this is truly beautiful. One I've not heard before. Seems accessible, not easy. Very tasty.

Alex Farran Guitar

Thanks Marty, glad you enjoyed this video. Such a lovely tune and one that gets called quite often at jazz jams etc 👌🏻

dan gardiner

can you recommend a recording device, whereas I could, say, strum the chord changes to Louisiana Fairytale, then record the solo over the top... (once i can play the solo!). I guess it would be two-track recording? I used to have a double cassette boom box that would achieve the same results, many moons ago...

Michael Sosebee

I play along with the recorded track. I think I've got it. I had to really lift my playing to get this far.It seems so easy watching you. It ain't easy! Thanks for all of your work.

Alex Farran Guitar

Thanks Michael, I’m so glad your hard work paid off!! Nice one matey! 🙏🏻🍻

Gert De Groof

Hi Alex, could it be that both chord pdf files contain the same chord changes? The fancy chords file contains the same file as the basic chords. I’ll probably be able to figure it out from the video, haven’t watched it entirely yet.

Alex Farran Guitar

Hi buddy, no, just checked and they appear to contain very different chord changes! 🤔

Gert De Groof

You’re right, the under title got the best of me 🫢

Alex Farran Guitar

Haha no worries! Get that monocle on and dig into them sweeeeeet chords 🤪

Gert De Groof

I got a flu, probably seeing double 🤒

Alex Farran Guitar

Oh no!.. sorry to hear that! My girlfriend has the same thing so I reckon I’m probably next! 😬 Get well soon buddy!

Gert De Groof

Thanks man. As long as I can play guitar I’m good.

Frederick Berg

Have to say I've spent some time listening to this on You Tube. I've become a big fan of Kenny Burrell.

Frederick Berg

Alex, thanks for your patience! I have both fancy and basic chord change sheets now!
