As I featured George Barnes in the album of the week, I thought it only right to pop up the transcription for my playthrough on this classic tune of his. I've included both the chords and the lead. This one is a GREAT workout for the fingers!.. and again, check out how effortlessly we glide from the key of C to the key of Eb at around the 55 second mark!

If you give this one a go, do comment below and let us all know how you're getting on! I'd love to be able to follow up with you all and see how youre doing with these lessons and performance pieces!

That key change :-) ! Great stuff again, I heard of George Barnes but never really listened to him, until now.

George Nichols

Nice stuff ,heard of George never listened to any of his material.

Julian Gross

This looks great. Thanks for including the Guitar Pro files, I find those are the best for learning, because you can go through the piece and loop section by section until you learn it

Julian Gross

Strongly encourage installation of guitar pro for anyone who doesn’t have it yet! I think the iPad version was free? Or cheap anyway

Alex Farran Guitar

absolutely agreed Julian.. it's an amazing tool for practice.. interactive sheet music at it's best. A must have tool for all of my students for sure!

Alex Farran Guitar

Glad you enjoyed in George.. well worth taking a deep dive into his stuff.. he's one of the most recorded guitarists in history, even appearing on some Big Bill Broozny cuts!.. supposedly the first examples of recorded electric guitar..

Julian Gross

Spent too much time with the paging the devil solo last weekend - but somehow also not enough!

George Nichols

Thanks for the reply .Got to see George Van Epps play his seven string one time in California.Friend of mine that knew the family said they were all very very smart.I have a lot of jazz LPs got to check them.

Randy Yount

I really love how the solo plays over the changes. It's a bit too advanced for me, but I'm still going to study it just to practice playing the changes.

I've never heard of George Barnes before, but I'm having fun listening to his music. Thanks for the introduction Alex! I'm currently working on Chatter Box and Beautiful Love BTW... and thanks for all you do!

Alex Farran Guitar

That’s great Michael!.. so glad you’re enjoying his music! Awesome to hear you’re working on Chatter Box and Beautiful love also my friend, I really appreciate the feedback 🙏🏻🍻

Alex Farran Guitar

Great idea Randy!.. even if it’s technically challenging, there’s always so much wisdom and inspiration to harvest from these tunes 👌🏻

John Green

Love this, is there a tab and chords for this, if so the link doesn't seem to be displaying?

Alex Farran Guitar

Glad you like it John! Yes indeed, I attach all the lesson materials to all of these posts! Make sure you’ve actually clicked on the post to open it (rather than just looking at the preview), and you’ll see the downloadable stuff as an “attachment” link at the bottom of my text description 👍🏻
