An extra Patreon bonus this week, and one I'm making available to all tiers as a thank you for being here. A fun little jazz blues number by the great man himself. This solo is very much based on his own.. an abridged and simplified version if you like. Very nice entry level jazz-blues solo to learn as it focuses on C minor Pentatonic scale shapes 1 and 2 specifically and has a bit of "self accompaniment" going on too.

Here's the backing track I used for this one;

The piece of music that got me into Jazz guitar! The whole album is beautiful, but for me, this is the standout track. I still listen to it regularly over 20 years after first hearing it.

I was JUST listening to this for the first time in about 6 months and was thinking ‘I should learn this’. Perfect timing! Thanks Alex.

Nice one Andrew, certainly a great gateway drug into the jazz guitar world! ;)

Joop Vanzeir

Such a nice tune, love the midnight blue version of this!

OK next is tabbing out the Stevie Ray version :-0

John Ortley

Thank you one of my favs. Kenny and Grant Green were my gateways to jazz guitar.

Always loved the congas! Agree it was the album you’d put on as a young buck for friends late at night and say man I’m a jazz cat-ha,ha and agree Grant Greens “Idle Moments” was there too, but more for romance!

Matthew Casey

Woohoo yes! I have been working on this already, thanks for the help!!

Arthur

Okay, That was fun :)

TinchoLegarra

Hey Alex thanks so much for that! Honestly, it costs me more than I thought to get each phrasing right. Great song and exercise dude!

Dana

Starting on this. It’s tagged as entry level and I have attempted it before. I know the tune well and love Kenny Burrell so we shall see how it goes.
