🇮🇹 ITALIANO

Buongiorno miei carissimi Patreons,

🇬🇧 ENGLISH

Good morning, my dear Patreons,

Melyra was the right person for a shoot I did not want to over-control. I wanted to live it all the way through.

I had already photographed her in the studio, in a more controlled, guided and protected setting. But when I started imagining this return outdoors, at the Parco degli Acquedotti, she came to mind almost immediately: free, instinctive, a little cheeky in just the right way, with that ability to play with the camera without ever becoming stiff.

I wanted Rome at sunset, natural light, and a real space around the body.I wanted to remove things, more than add them.

After so many months in the studio, going back outside felt strange and beautiful. In the studio, I build the light, choose the backdrop, control the distance, decide almost everything. Outside, I have to listen to what is happening: the sun changing, the wind, people in the distance, the ground under our feet, the way a figure truly enters a place.

That is why I chose one camera, one lens, one way of looking: Fujifilm X100VI, 35mm, no lights, no backdrops, no total control.

One camera. One lens. One muse. Rome.

With Melyra, the shoot quickly found the direction I was hoping for: less “perfect pose”, more real moment. She walked, laughed, moved through the space, looked into the camera with that slightly mischievous attitude of hers, as if she knew exactly when to be sweet and when to push the game a little further.

And yes, this project also has a freer, more physical, more reserved side.

Here, I can only hint at it. Inside the FANATICs, it will arrive in full.

Of course, not everything went smoothly.

There was a small technical issue too, one of those things I would have handled very differently in the studio. But outdoors you cannot always stop everything, rebuild everything, and start again from zero. You have to understand whether the shoot is still alive, whether the model is still inside the moment, whether you can keep the thread without losing the energy.

With Melyra, that is exactly what happened: she did not stiffen up. She stayed present. She kept moving, kept suggesting, kept playing with the light and the space. And at that point, the best thing I could do was very simple: keep shooting.

Because sometimes a shoot works not because everything is perfect, but because the person in front of the camera can turn even a problem into energy.

This post is only the first glimpse.

Inside the FANATICs, the complete set will arrive, together with the backstage, the video content and the most intense part of this return outdoors. And for those who have already seen Melyra in the studio, I think it will be beautiful to see how much her presence changes when she leaves the controlled space of the set and steps into a real place, with more air, more light and more instinct around her.

What I loved about this shoot is exactly this: it is not only about a model or a location.

It is about an afternoon that really happened.

Rome, the sunset, one camera, a few unexpected problems, a lot of freedom, and Melyra in the right place at the right time.

Join the FANATICs to discover the complete project: Melyra’s outdoor set, the backstage, the videos and everything I can only hint at here.
