An almost weightless black dress against a pale background, Valérie barely pulling at the fabric, shifting her posture and then looking straight into the lens with that confidence I have come to know so well.
Sheer Intent is built almost entirely around this: transparency, silhouette, and Valérie’s ability to make even the simplest setup visually powerful. Sometimes all it takes is a slight tilt of the face, a hand moving the fabric, a sharper expression, and the whole image changes.
And if Valérie has already caught your attention in previous chapters, the FANATICs have much more than this single set waiting for them: an entire path we have built together through very different images, moods and interpretations.

Buongiorno miei carissimi FANATICs!

Good morning my dear FANATICs!
Today comes Valérie – Sheer Intent, and while working on these photographs I realized that their strength comes precisely from their simplicity.
We did not need a particularly elaborate concept. The background is essential, the dress works through transparency and contrast against the skin, and from there the set relies above all on Valérie: the way she shifts her posture, uses her hands, tilts her face and, above all, controls her gaze.
After so many shootings together, this is probably one of the things I appreciate most about the way we work. With Valérie, I do not need to fill the set with elements for an image to have character. We know each other well enough to begin with something very simple and let expression and posing do the rest.
Looking back at the full sequence, this balance is what struck me most. Valérie always manages to bring the attention back to herself, and some of my favorite images are precisely the ones where she does very little: a direct gaze, a more composed posture, a barely suggested gesture.
This set also arrives at a particular point in her journey on the page, because it essentially completes the main Valérie cycle I still had open. I like that this part of our work reaches this point with a chapter so simple and so representative of the photographic understanding we have built together.
I am curious to know which images strike you the most: the ones where Valérie works primarily through her gaze, or those where her silhouette becomes the main protagonist.
