Avevo già capito durante lo shooting che That Smile sarebbe rimasto uno dei capitoli più surreali e divertenti realizzati con Bea, ma rivedere tutto in video fa ancora più effetto.

Nelle fotografie finite resta l’istante scelto: una posa, uno sguardo, un’espressione precisa. Qui invece si vede tutto quello che succede intorno, e soprattutto quanto fosse diversa l’atmosfera reale del set da quella che si potrebbe immaginare guardando soltanto gli scatti.

Bea è completamente a suo agio, ride, scherza e vive tutto con una naturalezza che rende questo backstage decisamente diverso dal solito.

Se That Smile vi aveva già incuriositi, questo video vi farà capire davvero perché quel sorriso è diventato il titolo del set.

I already knew during the shooting that That Smile would remain one of the most surreal and entertaining chapters I had created with Bea, but seeing everything again on video makes it even more striking.

In the finished photographs, what remains is the chosen instant: a pose, a look, one precise expression. Here, instead, you get to see everything happening around those moments — and especially how different the real atmosphere of the shooting was from what you might imagine by looking only at the final images.

Bea is completely at ease, laughing, joking and moving through the whole situation with a naturalness that makes this backstage very different from the usual.

Buongiorno miei carissimi FANATICs!

Conoscete già That Smile, quindi non ha senso che vi racconti di nuovo le fotografie. Sapete bene che tipo di set fosse e quanto alcune pose fossero audaci. La cosa interessante, qui, è vedere cosa succedeva davvero mentre quelle immagini prendevano forma.

Riguardando il backstage mi ha colpito soprattutto quanto cambi la percezione rispetto agli scatti finali. Nella fotografia vedete un singolo momento selezionato, pulito, fermo. Nel video invece emerge tutto quello che succede fra quegli istanti.

Ed è proprio lì che Bea è meravigliosa: ride di gusto, scherza, guarda direttamente verso la videocamera, partecipa alle gag e gioca persino con un finto imbarazzo che dura giusto il tempo di una battuta. Anche nei momenti più intensi continua a conversare e a vivere tutto con una naturalezza totale.

In alcuni momenti eravamo talmente presi dalle chiacchiere e dalle risate che rischiavo quasi di dimenticarmi di scattare.

Con That Smile avevo parlato tanto della sua naturalezza e della complicità che si era creata durante il set. Qui finalmente potete vedere tutto questo in movimento, esattamente com’era mentre stavamo scattando.

Good morning my dear FANATICs!

You already know That Smile, so there is no point in describing the photographs all over again. You know what kind of set it was and how daring some of the poses became. What makes this video interesting is seeing what was actually happening while those images were being created.

Watching the backstage again, what struck me most was how much the whole perception changes compared with the finished photographs. In a photograph, you see one selected, polished, frozen moment. In the video, instead, everything happening between those moments begins to emerge.

And that is where Bea is wonderful: she laughs genuinely, jokes around, looks straight at the backstage camera, joins in with the little gags and even plays with mock embarrassment that usually lasts just long enough for another joke. Even during the more intense moments, she keeps talking and moving through the whole situation with complete naturalness.

At times we were so caught up in chatting and laughing that I almost forgot I was supposed to be taking photographs.

With That Smile, I talked a lot about her naturalness and the sense of complicity that developed during the shooting. Here, you can finally see all of that in motion, exactly as it was while we were working.
