in traditional chinese medicine or TCM, it's normal for the doctors to check the tongue as part of the diagnosis . how it looks/ color/ swelling will tell a different story along with checking the pulse, looking at at the face for any puffiness, etc. they do need to open their mouth and their tongue out, not just a little blep for the right diagnosis

The symbolism with Jinshi is crazy, the fertility, but also the moon (iykyk). There is probably other points where the comparison is still possible, but I don't see them yet.
