Apothecary Diaries is a rare story. Most stories are like a journey you go from the start to finish. Apothecary Diaries is more like a building. Each half a season of the anime or each book is like a new floor of the building. Each building on top of the support of the other floors.

SouldeLuna

Somehow i suppressed my memory of this story line. I remember now why.

WWEdeadman

The Empress Dowager indeed is voiced by the same VA as Hinako Inui from Food Wars, who is also Elsa from Re:Zero and Gabimaru's wife in Hell's Paradise.

Thanny

13:14 No, that is Jinshi's lady-in-waiting.

Alderanex

There is absolutely no random episode, the last one was only masked as one too, and there will be a door to be opened later, maybe with some people around that we haven‘t seen in a while, or… Also to clarify, there is no empress right now, just the consorts and the widow of the former emperor.

виина

Anshi (empress dowager) was like 10 when she got pregnant. Or was she still 9 and gave birth at 10

Augusto Sossai

We didnt have naruto this week? T.T?

AttackRunRepeat

Now begins the decades long suspicion war between Luke and Shisui. One day she'll stab him in the back but when? I dare say WHEN?! Maybe tomorrow, maybe next week, 10 years from now. It doesn't matter Luke will turn around all the same and say AH HA! I knew it. Even if it never comes and she was in fact just a bug loving weirdo. Lmao.

Natalie E.

I think she gave birth at 10

Anthony

Yeah Shisui likes bugs and MaoMao IS a HUGE fan of Frogs

Anthony

the live stream for the pain arc is saturday and the vod maybe uploaded on sunday

Anthony

Btw he's doing the whole pain arc all 22 episodes

patros36

Subathon for pain arc tomorrow, dont worry.....also he was on the ADO concert on THursday, there are posts on Youtuber

Omar Ramadan

Do you know what time the subathon is??

GhostZethAaa

Yeah, especially the sensation FROGS have between her hands.

Marcio Neves

13:17 no, LOL!!! That's the old lady that serves under Jinshi in his place. We saw her before when Maomao came back into the palace to become Jinshi's servant

Marcio Neves

13:48 she is NOT the empress. There's no Empress, currently. She is the FORMER Empress, wife of the previous late emperor. None of the current Emperor's concubines are his "formal wife", so none of them are empress, yet

Marcio Neves

If one pay attention to the collor of the eyes, the collor of the hair, the shape of the face... I wonder how that took me so long to notice 😁

Marcio Neves

Yep, she did. She is only 10 years older than the emperor, and she was approaching 30 when she gave birth to his brother (so he was near 20 by then). And it was at "Maomao's age + 1 year" before, so she would be nearing her 50's and the emperor his 40's, by now

TheKnightwatchOfficial

Is it weird that when I read the "AH HA! I knew it," I actually read it in Luke's voice?

TheKnightwatchOfficial

2:30 BST, from what I remember. It's going to start early and go late.

Carmi Malig

This anime cheated me into watching it relaxingly, it caught me off guard on the big reveal.

Carmi Malig

I’m glad you are enjoying this anime as much as we fans do. Sadly , it’s not everybody’s tea, as it is a romantic anime.

виина

Romance is in the last place here. It's mystery and drama with only a little pinch of romance

виина

And now u trying to spoil. It's way funnier when the reveal hit hard and someone like waaat how I didn't notice this

виина

Me too, and I was making the Lukes ah ha face when reading 😂

виина

Omg can already imagine Luke's face if he sees it 🙈

Joshua Vaughn

Just wait till they reveal Maomaos friend Xaiolin to have been the emperor in disguise all along. I mean she's been there since the first episode and hasn't been revealed evil yet. Just remember to not trust anyone, even the cat!

Ian Fan

The one and only Bowel Hunter

Lucjusz Kusiński

Funny how in one show she is the one slicing people's bellies, but in AD they had to cut her belly open.

Madison Flowers

This is nowhere even close to being a spoiler. It’s not a spoiler to say that simple things connect together???

Sean

How does a concubine become a wife and thus empress?

Sean

(Spoiler possiby) im nearing end of season, but dont they say she was actually older than she appeared when young, she was actually more able to have kids than what her appearance suggested? Made me think she was 4-5 years older than the emperor believed

Marcio Neves

🤷🏽‍♂️ That's up to the show to explain. But there's one possibility, but that could be a spoiler
