A stand has an effective range it can be away from the user before it become weaker. You could think of a stand as a ball of yarn connected to the user, the further you throw the yarn the smaller it becomes, but in this case the weaker it becomes.

I think it was shown that Jonathan's body stand is similar to Joseph's Hermit purple since DIO could also do the spirit photography to figure out where they are. Plus the stand that's harming Holly currently are vines too.

Anime portrays this poorly, so to clear up - DIO can't fly. In the manga you can clearly see that he just uses his stand to jump from building to building. Also, they did Kakyoin dirty for the whole Egypt arc. They immediately took him out and sent him to a hospital for 80% of the arc, then after he came back, they made him lose twice, then killed him off. The only saving grace is that he's the one who figured out The World's power.

I will never get tired of the ending of this episode. Seeing Jotaro face Dio after we the viewers have just had all hope crushed and put in total despair and then Jotaro just "I can't beat the shit out of you without getting closer". Instantly reminding us that we still got our boy Jojo! The renewal of hope I feel whenever he says that is unrivalled!

they showed it weird in the anime but hes technically not flying hes like using his stand to kick off the ground and jump, you get like one flash of it when hes chasing jotaro around but its never really clear and a lot of the time he seems to change direction midair so it doesnt really make sense how they animated it
